Leveling up a monster
At the bottom of the tower, Darius didn't find anything. It was just a room filled with sand. After he used the compass, he found the needle pointing to a pile of sand. After moving it away, Darius found some traces of crystals… exactly like the ones he found the monsters guarding it.
When Darius found a bigger fragment, he thought that something would happen, but that wasn't the case… he tried to fix the crystals and connect the fragments. Still, soon he received a message when most of the fragments were on a single spot.
(Darius of the human species, we congratulate you for finding this place and surviving the first ambush. The connection won't last forever, so we can't waste time and need to go straight to the point. The being that tried to kill you is an old enemy of ours; he is trying to get revenge on our world alongside many others thanks to some things that happened in the past. To do that, you will need to make a crystal like the ones you saw before, and then we will establish the connection for you to return. However, some things are necessary to make it. First, you will have a large amount of aether available. Thanks to your domain and its growth, you already have that. You will also need the core of an extremely powerful creature, something at the level of dragons, and lastly, you will need to find a spot where the connection between worlds can be open. This tower is no longer one of them, it can barely be used for communications, but you will find another if you follow the Aether Compass. We wish you luck on your journey.)
Darius wanted to sigh… he felt like he heard a whole lot of nothing. While he didn't hear not many useful things, he saw with the fragments of the crystal that the world had been invaded too, and maybe that was the reason that god tried to kill Darius… that was as troublesome as it was annoying.
"... I should leave this place," Darius thought while trying to bury his thoughts in the deepest parts of his mind.
Although it was getting dark, Darius wasn't in the mood to climb up the stairs as fast as possible. It was rare for him to be in such a sour mood, but it couldn't be helped…
"I guess I will solve this like reasonable people who solved wars in the past," Darius thought. "Invade and crush them and then demand everything they have. When they give everything they have, they demand everything that they don't have. When they can't meet this reasonable request, extinguish them. That is how you peacefully resolve all conflicts…"
No one was there to listen to Darius joking around, but at least his mood improved. In any case, he checked both compasses again, and they were pointing in opposite directions… the chaos compass probably would lead him to trouble, but also to something that he needed… the core of a powerful creature… while the other would lead him to where he needs to go to escape once, he has everything that he needs.
"Come to think of it… if the god of this world sent humans, wouldn't that make things easier to conquer that planet?" Darius thought. "Unless the people here are really weak…"
Darius recalled what Leina had said. There are no strong monsters in that world; creatures like golems and orcs only showed when the invasion started… he wondered if the slimes would eventually spread across the world at that rare…
Regardless, Darius began to run in the direction he came from in order to find a dragon's core. It would be fine if he could find one ready to be used… processed as well, and not in the chest of a living dragon.
"I guess it would be cool to capture some and train them… with an army of dragons at my disposal, even the enemies of the eight gods wouldn't be able to do everything they want with me," Darius rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe I am dreaming too much, considering that I have yet to tame a single slime."
In any case, Darius began to run in the opposite direction while thinking about what he should do to improve in that aspect… After thinking for a while, he had a few ideas, and he wanted to test them as soon as possible.
After isolating one of the red slimes in his base, Darius slapped the creature a few times and told it to stop attacking, but the slime attacked again. Darius dodged it and then slapped the beast again, and then he changed the law of his domain to heal that particular slime. The creature soon got confused since it felt its body getting healed… still, it attacked Darius again.
After some more slaps, Darius changed the laws again, and the slime wasn't healed… the same process happened several times, and it didn't show any results… until the monster leveled up.
