The Guess

The boy looks at the paper once again and convinced that he breaks the codes. He wants to immediately bring up this matter to the girl. However, he decides to hold back because he thinks that the girl has too much to carry on her plate for now. Maybe he should also take a nap, rather than wait for the girl to wake up.

The boy lays his body on the sofa and stares blankly at the ceilings. He relaxes his muscles and controls his breath. He could feel that drowsiness weigh down on all of his senses. The serenity that envelops the room supports him to sleep. He blinks his eyes and starts to lose consciousness.

Even though the boy is dying to talk about the paper. Two days have already passed. It seems like the girl is in her best condition again. These days he finds the girl always roaming around him. When he's cutting the firewoods when he's cooking when he's reading books, and even when he's busy with his training.

He gets a lot of chances to talk to the girl. But none come from his mouth.

"I want to talk." Both of them say in sync.

"You could go first," The girl declares.

"I get a feeling what you want to talk about." He speaks as he maintains his calm.

The boy shows a scrap of paper in his hand.

"That paper…, where did you find it?" The girl's eyes darted.

"You have a secret room, near the lake," He emphasizes and then continues "That room has several weapons, and your massive plan to kill all the creatures. Am I right?"

"That….did you look into the room?" She gapes.

"No, I didn't" The boy assures her.

"How did you know then?" The girl's eyes widened.

"It's just a guess. I maintained information from this paper," he claims.

"How would you know what that means?" She corners the boy hoping for an answer.

"These numbers and words. They are not just random numbers and words." He pauses then speaks again. "It's serial numbers for guns. You're writing a list of guns that you could use for the next battle."

"And this scrap of paper is part of your notes. I think you're putting it right now in your pocket." He pointed at the girl's jeans pocket.

The girl looks into his eyes for a long period. She never thought that the boy could be so smart and sharp. She underestimates him because he seems clueless. He's more than that. His deduction skill is scary.

"You are right." She speaks in disbelief.

"Now…you are going to ask me, whether I could be a part of your plan. Is that what you want to ask me?" The boy's voice is firm.

"Yes. It is true." The girl lowered her voice.

The boy and the girl come out of their wooden house. The boy put one shotgun on his shoulder and one ghost gun on the right of his hip. The girl brings two ghost guns on her left and right hips. After the conversation they had, the boy agreed to help the girl kill all the creatures. To be honest, he thinks that this is a crazy idea.

Who would in their right mind throw themselves into a pit of hideous creatures only bringing several guns? Surviving in this apocalypse is hard enough and then they want to kill all the creatures? There is no rationalization for their action. Or maybe he is also just as insane as the girl. Even though they can't die and revive back. They still feel the pain when being attacked by the creatures.

As mad as it seems, they just seem to be right for this role. They could decrease the number of creatures by killing them. And since they can't die, nothing to lose. The boy and the girl already carried out several plans to kill the creatures before they decided to go to the city.

"Are you ready?" The girl looks at the boy and gives him a half-smile.

"I guess I am," He replies.
