C1. Unexpected Outcome

A few days after that particular night, everything continued as usual. I was able to carry out my daily tasks, and my health had somewhat improved. I had a brief conversation with Morgan, who provided me with guidance on how to begin my search.

He apologized for not immediately informing me about their temporary stay at their place. I reassured him that it was acceptable and expressed my gratitude towards him and his sister. It felt strange not to see Katy with Morgan during this time.

The following day, Katy was still absent, and this absence made me increasingly suspicious.

Just yesterday morning, I confidently woke up and prepared myself without any issues. I was pleased to be in good health and fully functional.

Occasionally, I would walk around the room, being considerate not to disturb others. However, my peaceful moment was interrupted when I received an unexpected call from Morgan, a peculiar man dressed in a combination of blue vests and polos.

The prominent insignia on his vest indicated something serious. As it turned out, the police were involved.

I glanced at Morgan, questioning if this had anything to do with my reincarnation, although his expression told me otherwise.

We were invited to join them in a secluded area, where they proceeded to inquire about various matters. Eventually, one of them divulged a crucial piece of information-

Katy was kidnapped.

I was taken aback. I experienced a sense of disbelief.

Wha-what?...

This… this… this is a joke! Right? Right?!

One of the police officer persistently questioned and shared some previously witnessed information regarding her abduction. Morgan calmly responded without displaying any signs of surprise.

No no no, what the hell is going on?!

A certain aspect of my consciousness starts to cause me concern. I find myself experiencing those familiar instances of solitude once more in the confines of my room. The feeling of loneliness is beginning to resurface, yet now I am uncertain about embracing it.

Please no! why. Why. Why!?

A rush of memories with Katy came flooding back to me, bringing back all those special moments we had shared. I'm overcome with a sense of surrender. I find myself speechless, unable to respond, just staring at the gleaming desk before me.

"Nathan. Hey, hey." Morgan called out to me.

Fortunately, I regained my composure and redirected my focus towards him.

"It's ok, they'll find them. Don't worry. She'll be ok." He caress my back with his hand for some comfort.

"I'll help." I said.

That's right. I have these powers. The encyclopedia system. I can find her!

"wha?" Morgan startled.

"Let me help you guys find her, I know her very-"

"ah! Ah! Sorry sir, he is my patient but I need to attend him quickly now back to his room because of his conditions." Morgan interrupted.

"Huh?" the officers questioned.

"Let's go Nathan." Morgan said.

As Morgan gently paced his hadn on my back, we started to exit the room with a subtle movement.

"Mr, Aguilar If it's ok with you would you likely please let someone attend him instead for we still need to ask you a few more questions." One of the police said as he interrupted Morgan from walking.

"I see." Morgan said.

Morgan waved at another nurse who was in close proximity and beckoned for my attention.

---

It was the last day, and after living in my limited, small, humble abode, I found myself bidding farewell. Just as Morgan described and Katy invited me to, I packed my essentials: a few spare toothbrushes, a comb, and necessary medications. I wore the clothes Katy had kindly given me, silently hoping she was well.

Despite the lingering disbelief of my current circumstances, I pressed forward with determination, aware that I had tasks to complete.

As I made my way through the hospital corridors, carrying a bag filled with my belongings, a hint of sadness washed over me, knowing that I would be departing for a while, but hopefully for a worthwhile reason. Some nurses, whose names and faces I may not recall, extended their farewells with gentle waves.

Although my memory may fail me in small details, I felt compelled to reciprocate their gestures, acknowledging their kind wishes.

Finally, after encountering several doors along my journey, I have arrived at the last one that stands between me and the outside world. And there, right next to it, Morgan awaits me.

"Nathan, let's go." He called out.

For a moment, I had an urge to ask him a question.

"A- Aren't we going do something?!" I asked.

"I- You know her very well! Shouldn't we be at least helping!" I exclaimed.

"No," Morgan said in a low tone of voice.

Why?! What is it?! What's bothering him?!

"Why?! Oh, are you scared? Why are you scared!?" I asked the first idea that may bother him in my mind.

For a moment, he didn't answer until he looked back at me with a straight face, Not mad but serious.

"I'm not scared, Nathan…"

"Then we should do something, Right?" I asked

"No, we don't…" He answered.

"…why?"

"Let's just go, please. Nathan." Morgan said as he looked back at me with a worried face.

I was perplexed as to why he seemed disinterested in everything, but a small part of me sensed that it didn't necessarily imply that he didn't care about what was happening.

Deep in thought, I contemplated my next move and turned my attention back to the hospital, observing the diligent workers as my gaze eventually went back to Morgan.

What should I do? I need to do something. But it should be something right.

"The police haven't left yet, so you still have time to talk to them. If you choose to do so, it's ok… I won't stop you, but just… don't bring me and Amy onto this." Morgan said.

What should I do?

"Let's go, please," Morgan said in a low tone of voice again.

*sigh*

"but-"

"Please.."

I took my first step out of the hospital.
