Chapter 25: Cold Shoulder
After three days in the healer's ward, Azia was finally cleared to go back to the Bronson compound. She informed key staff members that the investigation into their spy could now resume.
The investigation council met for the next few days, and Zeke found himself struggling to focus on the proceedings. They still hadn't uncovered any suspicious activity by any pack members and it was becoming more disconcerting with each day that passed.
And yet, the only thing he seemed able to focus on was Azia, seated on the other end of the panel.
He spent all night agonizing over what she may say to him when they saw each other next. He tossed and turned, wondering what her mood would be. Would she be flirtatious, like she had been in the hospital? Would she admit to caring about him--the real reason why she threw herself in front of that dagger? The possibilities robbed Zeke of sleep.
