Chapter 22: Unusual Excursion
“Oh, hi, Raul,” Melinda responded. It didn’t seem as if there would be time for any kind of private talk, because they had already reached the bus. She wondered whether Raul had heard what she and Garett had talked about.
They got onto the bus and Raul sat next to Melinda. “So, that guy really unnerved you yesterday,” he commented softly.
Melinda wasn’t so sure that it was wise to have that discussion on the bus, so she looked at Raul inquiringly.
“Didn’t it give you nightmares?” Raul asked.
“No, I didn’t,” Melinda replied. “Can we talk about this later?” she asked, because Raul was acting strange. He gave no indication of having overheard her and Garett’s conversation. It seemed as he was trying to act cool, as if she was some stranger he was trying to impress.
