The White Wolf Library

I glared at the wolf, admiring its beaming in the moonlight fur. It looked straight at me, as if studying my reaction, then stood up and went straight in the unknown direction. I was looking at him fading in the fog, and thinking about how sick my mind is. Can a wolf really be in the city? However, it's not the first wolf I saw in the city, so maybe I'm not that crazy.

{What's wrong here, or what's wrong with me?}

I woke up in the morning in the mood to explore the city and got some answers to my questions, so I didn't even have breakfast. Just took a quick shower, put on some usual makeup like cat eyes and red lipstick, and brushed my hair. Then put on black jeans and a light-blue organza off-shoulder blouse, and light-blue sneakers, then went out of the hotel. Furthermore, I decided to went down to look if there was still the same supermarket with tasty pastry, or if it was a sick dream in my mind as well as those two wolves. However, I'm closer to the thought that it was a reality and not a dream, and to prove it I need to go to the library and study some local books. There should be some mystery behind those wolves… or behind me?

When I got out to the street, a fresh wind blew my hair back and caressed my bare shoulders, then disappeared. I got straight to the place where I saw a wolf at night and noticed a piece of white fur that was stuck between the pavement and the road. I took it out, then put it in my purse, to turn to it later. Definitely, I can't study that piece of fur because I'm not a biologist, and I doubt there are any biological clinics to study this fur.

I went along the street, looking here and there for any interesting things when a building with beautiful street art of a big white wolf caught my attention. I looked up for any signs and saw a big sign hanging on the upper floor of the building.

"Moonlight Flower…" The sign made me interested in going inside, what I actually did and happened to be in a big supermarket, where a tasty smell caught my nose, so I looked around and followed it straight to the bakery. A young guy with shiny golden hair looked at me, smiled, then straightened up.

"Morning beautiful lady," the guy smiled, then looked at me, "What do you want to taste?"

"I'm new here," I blushed, then got closer to the bar and looked around for a lot of pastries looking at me. I felt my stomach grumble, then looked at him, "I wanna big Cappuccino and something very tasty… Maybe a croissant?"

"With what taste do you want a croissant? Chocolate, jam, or anything else?" The salesman looked at me, pointing to a lot of different croissants standing under the window and looking at me as if asking me to buy and eat them.

"I want a croissant with chocolate," I smiled, then looked at the guy who put the croissant on a plate then started brewing coffee for me. I looked around the bakery. It was a good-looking building with yellow walls, white tables and chairs, and big windows leading to the street. Then, I turned to the bakery guy and decided to ask one thing, "I wanted to ask… What that white wolf painting on the building means?"

"It's an honor to our Alpha, Aiden. He's the white wolf drawn there," he suddenly said, making the world vanish behind my toes. Is Aiden that white wolf I saw under my balcony this night? Wait. Aiden is human, humans can't transform into wolves… There's something missing here…

"Thanks," I said, took my coffee and pastry, paid the money, and went outside. I definitely need to go to the library and study local stories.

Questions in my head were making a long list, and each time I said something weird, my head was putting "error" in the front place, like a computer when something is going wrong. I couldn't unite all those things I had in my head, and I couldn't combine them into one single thing: amber eyes, two wolves on the streets of the city, sharpness of my own eyesight whenever I see a moon badge or a moon itself, and of course why the citizens of Zolf think Aiden is a white wolf. What does the world Zolf mean itself, and who's the Alpha?

I stopped, put a takeout cup of coffee near me, put a croissant in its take-out bag to my knees, then started massaging my temples, breathing deeply. The constant bombing of questions made my head hurt, and the world spun around me, even so, the massage hasn't helped. I took the coffee and made a few greedy sips when I heard a noise behind my back.

"Do you need some help?" A female voice behind my back asked, making me turn around. I saw a tall girl with dark brown hair, deep emerald eyes, and a thin body. She had perfect white teeth and a very friendly smile. She was dressed in a jeans' jumpsuit, a black T-shirt, a jeans' jacket, and black sneakers. The girl kneeled down near me, then touched my shoulder, "You look pale…"

"Just a headache," I gathered my things and stood up, "Do you know where the library is?"

"Right here!" She pointed to the building at my back, so I turned around and looked up. It was a small moon drawing near the sign saying that it was a library and a white wolf on the other side of the sign. "The library of a White wolf or White Wolf's library, as we prefer to call it. You're new here, right? Almost all locals know where the main building in the city is…"

"Yeah," I nodded, then went upstairs and entered the building full of the smell of old and new books as well as wood. I felt the girl enter the building with me, and turned to her to ask, but she was the first to talk.

"I'm Sally, the librarian, and that's my best friend, Ryuichi, who helps me to take care of all those books," she pointed at a girl coming closer to us somewhere from the deep of the bookshelves' labyrinth.

I looked over at Ruy to find out she, and Sally, actually were of the same height, and their hair colors were somewhat the same, though Ryuichi had brighter hair than Sally. Her eyes were green-hazel. Ryuichi had a more athletic body than Sally, and she was dressed in a skirt and a blouse. Ruy smiled at me, then looked at Sally.

"Who's our new guest?"

"A newcomer, and she's interested in books as much as we are," Sally smiled, then looked at me, "What exactly are you looking at?"

I took a deep breath, looking out for some piece of courage deep inside myself. I didn't want to look like a crazy girl, though I need to study some wolves' books to understand what was going on. How should I ask them?

"Well, I… Can I just take a look around?" I blushed from head to toe seeing their concerned look, but then both of them smiled.

"Sure!"

I knew the rules that we're not allowed to eat in the library, so I packed the croissant quickly, hide it in my purse then went deep into the library labyrinth, studying the book covers. There was literary everything here, and it took me a long half an hour to find out a section about wolves. When I looked around and saw no one is there, I took the first few books, then sat on the floor and started looking over their content quickly, trying to find the one close to the questions in my head. I needed to know if the humans can actually turn into wolves; if their eyes can change into amber and moreover if they are still called humans. What if my father hasn't belonged to the human world and that's why my memories were hidden?

What if my father was one of those humans who can turn into wolves? If I'm like him, my memories could be hidden, so I won't be able to tell humans about those creatures' existence.

{Am I mad, or I am about to find the key to the mystery?}

Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.
