Wolf's Zone

A young girl, Letty Black, understands that the last thing she remembers is her father's death. Her childhood, teen years, first kiss, and first love are a tabula rasa. Her memories are gone, and no matter what she did and how many qualified doctors she had seen, there's no progress in getting her memories back except for strange dreams: an unknown city, a handsome blond man with magnificent blue-brown eyes, and... wolves...? What do all those dreams mean? Is she mad, or that's a hidden world under her nose?

The Alpha Father

When I got to the archive, it was almost closed. I managed to please the archive lady to give me the documents, and she agreed after I said Alpha Aiden told me to have them. When we got inside the archive, I told her the surname of my family: "Black", and asked her to bring all the documents she had related to that surname. After hearing my family surname, the lady was slightly shocked, and probably was about to ask some questions, then remembered about Alpha Aiden and went to the backroom for the documents.

I sneezed and sighed. I've been waiting already for a long time for that old-looking woman to find the right documents for me. Moreover, this archive doesn't seem to be so big, so I can't get where she got lost? Maybe some piles of the documents fell at her, and she's unable to move?

I giggled from my own suggestion and finally saw her coming out of the backroom.

"It was hard to find. Not so much information is left… You need to go to the burned area near our Pack territory, perhaps there are some things left after such a long time. But don't go there alone, they say there are strangers there! They are dangerous!" She gave me a thick old folder made from yellow paper and I arched an eyebrow.

"And that's all that you've been looking for so long?"

"All the other folders were in the different parts, I needed to collect them all together. Moreover, young lady, you should be thankful for having them today." The old-looking woman, wrapped in her gray shawl, looked over me from head to toes, then turned around and went in the direction of the street. "Hurry up, young lady, or you'll end up in the old dusty archive overnight!"

I rolled my eyes at her rudeness and hurried to get out to the street. She closed the archive door with her key, then closed the gate and turned to me. I just put the folders on the back seat and was about to get inside the car, when she got closer to me.

"What's your name? I need to know whom to ask if I won't get those papers in two days," she warned me and at the same time asked, standing on the pavement, a few steps away from my car. I closed the door to not distract other drivers, but remained standing on the road.

"Letty Black. I rent the room in the hotel and don't worry, I'll return them in time," I opened the door, sat inside, started a car, and drove in the direction of the hotel. The sun was already going down, and the owl light has come when I already reached the balcony in my apartment, so I just closed the curtains.

The documents from the archive I put on my table, near books from the library and my laptop, then went to the kitchen to have dinner. I was planning to read some documents after it, having high hopes deep in my heart it would help to wake up some more memories. I still couldn't forget my father's eyes from that memory in Aiden's office.

"Wait, what time is it?" I looked at my phone, putting the pasta aside. However, instead of the time, I found a message from Aiden I managed to miss somehow. He wrote that they had found something very important, and they need to sniff better, so the nightclub won't be open today. It means a night off for me and I can get myself into reading and studying, so I can face Aiden tomorrow with a lot of questions to get more answers.

I got my dinner, went to the shower, changed into pajamas, made myself a cup of tea with mint, and went to the bed with that folder I took from the archive. I planned to read them all today, however, when my body understood I reached the bed, I immediately felt I'm very tired.

However, I forced myself to not sleep and read at least one folder, and then we'll see.

And the first folder I opened was with a photo of a man, whom I had already seen in my dreams and the recent memory. It was a photo of my father, a tall and muscled man with thick black hair, deep blue eyes, and a square type of face.

"James Black, Alpha of the Black Forest Pack. He was born in an unknown place and an unknown year. He was married to Marriott Black. They had a daughter, whose name was as unique as her appearance - Letty Black."

I closed the folder for a second without feeling sleepy anymore.

Marriott Black is my mother?

Without waiting any more seconds, I opened the folder back and read further.

"James and Marriott Black lived on the territory of their Pack, bordering the current territory of the Moon Flower Pack. Marriott died after she gave birth to her daughter, while James was among those who happened to be alive after all the Pack was burned out. He brought up his daughter on his own in the house deep in the woods. It is believed that there are a lot of treasures he saved for his daughter in that hut, including his diary and his will. However, it is also known that James married a human, whom he believed could substitute a mother for his daughter, but he failed. After that, he took his daughter back to the house in the forest, where they both lived until his death…"

I blinked several times and took another folder. I need to read as much as I can, and after having all the information from the documents I can clearly think.

"Marriott Black was born in an unknown year and died after she gave birth to her daughter Letty. Her origin, nor her real surname, is unknown. It is believed that she specifically took a Greek name for her daughter because she knew werewolves would never choose such a name for their child. Marriott believed her daughter's name was unique, and to indicate that it's her daughter, she wrote a heart near her name before she died…"

She wrote a heart near my name. Isn't it the same tattoo Aiden has on his wrist? It means he knew all this information. Maybe it was him who left that information specifically for me to read it? What an unusual way of answering questions.

I started reading further, seeing how the amount of unread documents was decreasing.

"Marriott and James Black were original werewolves as well as the members of their Pack. James had silver fur, while Marriott had black fur."

"Original wolves? What does it mean?" I asked myself, then noted that question down in my diary and turned back to the last document that was in the folder from the library. I took a sip of tea in the meanwhile.

"It is believed that the Alpha of the Black Forest Pack – James Black, had a foresight gift. There are rumors that the Alpha of the Moon Flower Pack was the Beta of James Black, and due to his foresight gift, he saved his Beta's life as well as his family. He asked them to leave the Pack territory right before all the pack members died. People say he did that because he knew Aiden Moon is his daughter's mate…"

Wait a minute…

Aiden's father was my father's Beta? It means… we knew each other since childhood and had spent a lot of time together. If yes, then…

I stood up, put the folder back on the table, took a cup of tea, and went outside. It was already dark, the moon was seen on the skyline as well as some clouds around it. I took a sip of coffee, looking at the moon for some time. It was strange silence deep in my head and I couldn't understand why? I should already be suffering from the headache as the new bunch of questions would start bombing my head. But on the contrary, my head was empty, and my thoughts were too silent.

I finally drank all the tea from my cup, washed it in the kitchen, then took my diary and wrote a few words.

"𝔻𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕕𝕚𝕒𝕣𝕪,

𝕊𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕖 𝕀 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤 𝕀 𝕘𝕠𝕥 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕒𝕣𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕧𝕖, 𝕚𝕥 𝕚𝕤 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕖 𝕔𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕣 𝕨𝕙𝕠 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖 𝕞𝕪 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕤, 𝕙𝕠𝕨 𝕀 𝕗𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕔𝕚𝕥𝕪, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥'𝕤 𝕘𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕟 𝕓𝕖𝕥𝕨𝕖𝕖𝕟 𝕞𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝔸𝕚𝕕𝕖𝕟. ℍ𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣, 𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕝𝕖 𝕢𝕦𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕦𝕟𝕔𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕣: "𝕀𝕗 𝕀'𝕞 𝕒 𝕨𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕨𝕠𝕝𝕗, 𝕨𝕙𝕪 𝕀 𝕔𝕒𝕟'𝕥 𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕠 𝕒 𝕨𝕠𝕝𝕗?"

I closed the diary and looked at the last three or four questions I wrote instead of one. Then, as if someone took control over my body, I took my phone, and wrote a message to Aiden:

"Am I a werewolf, as you are?"

Early in the morning, when I woke up, the sun was already shining but wasn't playing on my face thanks to the closed curtains. I stood up, opened them, went to the balcony, and stretched my body.

I had such a good sleep at night, however, I can't remember when I went to sleep. Seems after I wrote a message to Aiden but…

A MESSAGE!
