Wolf's Zone

A young girl, Letty Black, understands that the last thing she remembers is her father's death. Her childhood, teen years, first kiss, and first love are a tabula rasa. Her memories are gone, and no matter what she did and how many qualified doctors she had seen, there's no progress in getting her memories back except for strange dreams: an unknown city, a handsome blond man with magnificent blue-brown eyes, and... wolves...? What do all those dreams mean? Is she mad, or that's a hidden world under her nose?

"Letty?" I heard Rick's voice and turned to him, blushing.

"Where to mop?" I pretended I'm not watching Aiden and poking my nose into his business, but looking over the nightclub where to mop.

"Between the blue and fuchsia tables, please. And be careful!"

I nodded and went to those tables, saying thanks inside my head to the unknown forces that helped me to slip from that uneasy situation. What I definitely don't want is the nightclub staff whispering about me and Aiden, but I'm sure they're already doing this under my back, and of course, thanks to me, who is constantly blushing whenever I see Aiden. It's ridiculous. I'm sure looking like a shy red lobster when I'm near him, and that's what I should stop doing.

The liquid on the floor was red, so probably it was wine. I started mopping it here and there, cleaning the dirty mop in the bucket of water Rick brought me, then cleaning the floor again so the visitors to be safe from slipping and falling. It can be very dangerous, though I didn't notice I stood in the puddle of wine, and it made my shoes slip. When I almost finished, I turned around with a mop and felt my shoes slipping, so I took the mop closer to myself to catch my balance. What a shame it'll be when I'll fall just here in front of all the visitors.

I tried to step out of the slipping area, but it only got worse. When my legs spread asides, and I tried to save the situation by taking them together in one quick move, I lost my balance at all and felt I'm falling. I closed my eyes not to see my epic fail when suddenly I ended up in someone's strong arms. When I opened my eyes, no wonder, I saw Aiden. He held me tightly in his arms, standing away from the slipping area. Our faces were close to each other, I could feel his breath on my lips.

"Thanks for saving my life again…" She blushed from head to toe, looking deep into my eyes as if drowning in there. I put her back in the safe place, away from the puddle of wine, and bowed my head in response.

"Always. Be careful," I turned away and joined my guests at the table, seeing Letty standing there as red as lobster. It took her a few seconds to gather with thoughts, then she quickly moped the floor in that area and got back to work by serving tables. I finally turn my eyes to my friends.

"Saving her life?" Mark asked with a smile on his face. He gobbled that whiskey up at one gulp, put the glass back on the table, swallowed leftovers of a sandwich with grilled salmon and some sauce, then looked at me again.

"Mind it?" I said back and took my glass of whiskey, watching over Letty. Each time our eyes met, she was blushing and hiding her face in her red, actually, bright red, more of a rose-red hair.

"Nah," Mark shook his head, looking back at her, observing Letty from a distance as if it would help him to learn more information about her.

"So, tell us more?" Victor asked, doing the same as Mark, observing her from a distance.

"Not for now," I replied and took a few sips of my favorite Scotch Whiskey, then put a piece of salty cheddar in my mouth. They looked at me and frowned simultaneously.

"I came here for news, not only to talk about the conflict and help you find those guys… Don't make me call her and ask…" Mark showed his sharp and white wolf teeth, then turned his head away, looking for Letty.

"She lost her memory, so even if you call her, you would not hear any news. The only person to know something is me…," I filled their glasses with whiskey.

Victor frowned harder, put the collar of his gray shirt in its place, then run with his fingers through his thick curly blond hair like he was preparing for an important talk. His dark brown eyes focused on me, but he remained silent. That was his typical behavior when he was trying to force me to talk.

"That's the biggest disappointment I ever had in my life," Mark rolled his eyes, pretending he was offended, then looked at me with his pup eyes. I sighed, then turned my head away from them, and took a sip of whiskey with no emotions.

"Your tactics have no effect on me," I shrugged, observing the nightclub slowly, looking for any of those guys who offended Letty. I haven't seen them leaving, so there's a chance they're still here, or at least their smell, so we can chase them. Mark and Victor caught my thoughts somehow and turned around, looking for anyone they know or had ever seen in their packs. However, even if considered our sharp werewolves' eyesight, it was almost impossible to catch anyone. The problem was in the building itself; it had too many places where you can hide. And I'm pretty sure if those guys are still here until they see me, they won't touch her.

"What if they left scared?" Mark asked, playing with his glass, rolling it on the table with a marble top from one side to another. Victor was watching the moving glass as if trying to put himself under some kind of hypnosis.

"Could be," I shrugged, taking a sip of whiskey. Suddenly, Mark's glass fell off the table and broke into small pieces, making all of us freeze.

"Dang…" He looked down at the glass and then at me. I sighed because I knew the cleaning lady had already gone home, so the only one left to clean was Letty. And they knew it as well, so I can't be sure it wasn't done specifically.

"Good job," Victor wasn't upset at all, knowing it would bring him a chance to see Letty closer.

I stood up, seeing her coming in our direction with a broom and a scoop, then I sat down near the broken glass.

"Don't touch it," I commanded as soon as I noticed stilettos near me, then looked up: my eyes went up from her long slim legs to her black pencil skirt, to the white transparent blouse, and froze at her blue eyes. She blushed seeing my gaze and kneeled down, having a broom and scoop in her hands.

"I will clean it, don't worry. You can injure yourself to the glass," she said to me, and blushed. Her red hair closed her face from others, so I was the only person to see her facial expression, however, Mark and Victor were close to us and could easily hear her words.

Letty started sweeping glass pieces into the scoop, and before I could resist or propose my help, she already stood up, having a scoop full of broken glass in her hand.

"Be careful next time," she said, smiling at Mark, whose broken glass was on her scoop. He turned to her, running his fingers through his brown hair.

"I'm sorry ma'am. Don't injure yourself while throwing it away or Aiden will eat me. He's overprotective when it comes to…" I kicked his leg under the table with mine, and he immediately straightened up, adding, "…his workers…".

"Indeed, he is, but isn't it a bonus to his karma?" She smiled friendly, then turned away and went to the trash bin. Mark turned to me and shrugged.

"I didn't mean to…"

"She needs to figure out everything on her own. Even if we're mates, I don't want to force her to be mine…," I sighed and looked at her approaching us with a new glass for Mark. She put it near him, then turned her head in my direction.

"Do you need anything else?" Letty asked, then looked over the nightclub while waiting for my answer.

"If you ever see those guys who offended you, let me know…" I took my number card from my pocket and gave it to her, then looked at a watch in my hand, "It's time to take a walk around and close the club…"

"You're working till noon?" She looked at a watch in my hand.

"The club is working till 3 p.m., but the bar and waitresses till noon…," I explained, then stood up, "Wait for me near the bar."
