They returned to the hotel early in the morning. After comforting Anping briefly, Gu Yuena went back to her room to rest.
Anping, however, stayed in the library, searching for some suitable spells to find people. This incident made him realize how much he lacked in tracking skills.
But he had his reasons. On one hand, he never had much need for such skills before. On the other hand, wizards had so many spells to learn that they couldn't master everything. In recent years, Anping had focused his research on space and soul magic.
The next day came soon enough. After spending the night looking for a suitable spell, Anping found one that seemed perfect for the situation: Destiny Movement.
Destiny Movement was a mysterious divination spell that allowed the caster to gain some insight into their fate. A powerful wizard could even use this spell to alter destiny. Anping knew that he wasn't strong enough to do that, but he hoped that finding the person he was looking for wouldn't be a problem.
He studied the spell carefully several times before trying it out. Even though it was his first time using it, he cast it smoothly. As soon as the spell took effect, an image appeared in his mind.
Anping was surprised by what he saw. In the image, Lin Qing was with a man in a police uniform. The man next to Lin Qing was none other than Officer Song, and the background of the image was the street in front of the hotel.
Anping released his mental power to investigate further. After all, he had specified Lin Qing's current location as the target of the spell. He confirmed that the image he received was real-time, which meant that Lin Qing was downstairs at that moment.
He quickly knocked on Gu Yuena's bedroom door and woke her up.
"Uncle Lin is downstairs right now," he told her. Gu Yuena used her mental power to check and verified that Anping was telling the truth. She asked with some confusion, "Why did he suddenly show up again after disappearing?"
Anping shook his head slightly and said, "I don't know. We'll have to ask Uncle Lin what happened to him."
At that moment, Anping's phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number. He answered it and found out that it was Officer Song, calling from the number Anping had left him.
Officer Song said that he had found Lin Qing and that he was waiting for them in the hotel lobby. However, he also said that something unexpected had happened to Lin Qing.
Hearing that Lin Qing was in trouble, Anping and Gu Yuena vanished from the room with a flash of silver light. The next moment, they reappeared in front of Lin Qing and Officer Song.
Lin Qing and Officer Song were startled by their sudden appearance and stepped back instinctively. Luckily, there was no one else in the hotel lobby at that time, so they didn't cause a scene.
Anping looked at Officer Song and Lin Qing. Lin Qing looked depressed and dazed, as if he had been lost in a fog and hadn't woken up yet. Seeing that Anping and Gu Yuena didn't show much reaction, he backed away. It was just a subconscious response of his body.
Anping asked calmly, "Where did you find him? What happened to him?"
Officer Song trembled as he said, "The patrol police found him at the door of his company's apartment. He was in a coma when they found him. And he seems to have lost his memory of the time he was missing. I don't know anything else."
He could tell from the way Anping and Gu Yuena appeared that they were serious about this matter. But he was afraid of offending them with his lack of information, so he quickly said, "Now that we've found him, I'll leave you to it. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask him yourself." He then said goodbye and left.
It was almost dawn, and the hotel lobby was not a good place to talk. Anping and Gu Yuena took Lin Qing back to their suite.
They sat opposite each other in the living room. Anping asked softly, with concern in his voice, "Uncle Lin, do you really not remember anything that happened these days?"
Lin Qing sat on the sofa, holding his head in his hands. He didn't say a word. He looked confused and uncomfortable.
Seeing his distress, Anping quickly cast a soothing spell to calm Lin Qing's emotions. After a few seconds, Lin Qing relaxed and fell asleep on the sofa.
Looking at Lin Qing, who had fallen asleep so suddenly, Gu Yuena asked, "It looks like his memory has been tampered with. What should we do now? Do we still want to continue the investigation?"
"Of course we do," Anping said. "I want to find out who did this to him. They kidnapped Uncle Lin for no reason, erased his memory, and sent him back quietly." His tone was calm, but Gu Yuena could sense his anger.
Gu Yuena asked, "What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to see if I can get him back to normal first, and then see if I can restore his memory of this period." As he spoke, Anping walked over to Lin Qing, placed his right hand on his forehead, and began to examine him.
Since it was a memory issue, Anping first checked his brain and found no physical damage. Then he carefully inspected Lin Qing's soul and found that it was intact, but weak, causing his spiritual energy to be chaotic.
The memory loss was clearly caused by mental trauma, but it wasn't too severe. Anping started to sort out his disordered spiritual energy. He was cautious, as he didn't want to cause any harm to his soul.
After about fifteen minutes, Anping finished sorting out Lin Qing's spiritual energy. He returned to Gu Yuena and sat down, wiping the imaginary sweat from his forehead. He looked very tired.
Gu Yuena asked softly, "How is he? Is it serious?"
Anping said, "It's not too bad. He was just confused by the mental trauma. I've fixed it now. He should wake up soon."
She nodded slightly when she heard that Anping had solved the problem. Then she said, "I also found out something unexpected just now..."
"What did you find?" Anping asked, curious.
"Let me finish, please. Don't interrupt me." She pinched Anping and then continued, "If I'm not mistaken, this has something to do with the Tang Sect."
Anping looked puzzled. "The Tang Sect? How is Uncle Lin connected to them?"
Anping had also thought of the Tang Sect when he learned that Lin Qing had gone missing in Sunset Forest, but he quickly dismissed the idea when he considered Lin Qing's strength.
After all, Lin Qing was a level thirty-plus Soul Master. He shouldn't have anything to do with the Tang Sect.
