Destiny Alteration!

With the journal in his hands, Aren was observing those runes closely. Those two triangles were the runes of time and space as claimed by Anthony. The inverted one was a space rune while the other being the time rune.

'That librarian also told me that one can't engrave these runes in one's spritual space no matter how hard he or she tries.'

'If I can't engrave a rune within five tries I'll have to face a spritual backslash. It certainly is very dangerous...' Aren was deeply concerned whether he should try engraving one or wait until tomorrow and ask Cowen.

'Whatever, I'll just try one for a trial. If I can't engrave a time or a space rune after third try then I'll return this book.'

Aren didn't just borrow this journal to read it. He wanted to try these runes. Time and space runes, even the name sounded awesome...

He then took out his runestone which was inside a sealing box. Then, according to how Cowen told him, put it over his spellbook. This was a ritual to awaken one's magical talents. To engrave a rune an apprentice needed a runestone, a spellbook and the specified rune.

Aren put his right palm over the runestone and closed his eyes. Very soon, a connection was formed between him and the runestone, just like when he activated the necromantic magic array back then. A purple light came into his vision and there was white mist everywhere.

He had once again entered his spritual space but this time it was different. He wouldn't deplete his spiritual energy by trying to chase that light like before. He first calmed his mind, then tried to think of that picture of triangle.

While chatting with his seniors he got to know how to engrave a rune. With the precautions given by Patrick and Cowen, he was sure there will only be a slight problem if he couldn't engrave it up to three times.

With the picture of 3D triangle in his mind, he concentrated on it. There was not any changes at first but after a while, a vague outline of the rune of space was formed. Time passed bit by bit and the rune of space was now very realistic. However, just went he had almost engraved it, time seemed to stop. He couldn't finish the last part no matter how hard he tried!

It wasn't that his spirit was depleted but there seemed to be a restriction. He maintained that state for a minute or two then reluctantly stopped concentrating. The rune quickly fell apart and dissappeared in no time.

This wasn't what he wanted. He only had two chances now. Opening his eyes, he looked at the hourglass. It was already the 23rd hour of this day. One hour later it would be 12 o'clock.

He took a rest for ten minutes and again tried. This time it was the rune of time but after a while the same frown appeared on his forehead. Again that restriction! This time the engraving process was not stopped but the whole rune dissappeared. It was like space itself couldn't accomodate that rune of time.

Because he tried engraving two runes within one and half hours, his head was starting to hurt. He was also feeling sleepy so Aren decided to sleep for now. He extinguished the lamp hanging on the wall and laid down on his bed.

Half an hour passed but he still couldn't sleep. He was thinking about those runes. When engraving space rune, time stopped and when engraving time rune it disappeared...

Thats it!

A brilliant idea came into his mind. If he engraved one rune then another will restrict it. So what if he combined these two runes and then engrave it?

He flung off his blanket and came before his desk. He did those procedures again then closed his eyes. When white mist filled his view, he started working on his combined rune, A hexagram star rune. He quicky pictured it in his mind and started concentrating. The process went smoothly as he had became more proficient after two tries. The hexagram star was constructed bit by bit. The process was slow but steady because it was bigger than other runes. When he finally finished the last part Aren was exhilarated. He had finally engraved a rune.

Just when he was about to exit the spiritual space, he noticed that the vertices of hexagram were glowing dimly and suddenly he felt sharp pain in his head. It was like six needles penetrating his cerebrum at the same time. Those vertices were getting brighter and bright and seemed like if he didn't do something the whole rune would blast into pieces.

At that critcal moment, Aren was at a loss as to what to do. Resisting the sharp pain he looked the rune and envisioned it to be enclosed by a circle. In one of the books he read in the library, there was written that a circle had a loop and binding effect in any magic. He didn't know what to do so he tried this. He wasn't sure if it could hold it from...

'Huh? The rune is back to normal?'

He looked at the hexagram star inside the circle which showed no sign of disintegrating and was dumfounded. The pain was also gone. He then slowly opened his eyes and saw that the surface of the runestone was black.

It no longer had the same luster and was more like charcoal now. He put it away and picked up his spell book. There was the same rune on its first page now. It was glowing with colorful lights. After a while, it dissappeared too.

Aren put the book away and dragged his exhausted self to the bed. As he laid down on his bed, his gaze fell upon the stars outside the window; he had a feeling that those stars were now brighter than before he engraved his runes.

He closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep but didn't notice that on his forehead, a dim purple light glowed from time to time.

...

In the faraway continent Regis, A rank 11 Arcane Prophetess abruptly opened her eyes. Her gaze peirced through the clouds as she looked towards south where Tanvr continent was. She followed the Endrew river's path, heading southwest. She was about to reach Wemtion Empire which was one the neighbouring nations of the Ashlar Kingdom. Suddenly her vision blackened and two streaks of blood flowed from both of her eyes.

She looked up and saw with her bloody eyes that a young man wearing black robes and a black pointed hat had appeared out of nowhere. He sometimes looked like a projection and sometimes real. Time and space seemed to be distorted around him.

He had 1.8 meters tall height and was unbelievably handsome. He had black hairs and a pair of purple eyes. If looked closely, one could even see small stars like dots inside his eyes instead of pupils. On his right had, was a long staff and on his left was an orb. There was also a spellbook tied to his waist. He looked at red eyed prophetess and smiled slightly; that smile further increasing his subtle charm.

"You've seen too much. So I shall change your fate." his voice was clam, sounding like a God's decree in the ears of mortals. Saying that, he pointed his staff at the prophetess.

That Prophetess had a horrified expression as she looked at the glowing tip of the staff. When the spell was almost completed and was about to hit her, she heard a booming voice.

"WIZARD FROM THE FUTURE, YOU CANNOT INTERFERE WITH THE MATTERS OF PAST."

That voice was very loud to the point a huge shockwave was generated. Then from a distance, a big ball of white light came into the view of prophetess. In no time at all, that light arrived in her location.

The Prophetess could now clearly see that it was an old man wearing simple white clothes. He had a long beard which almost reached his feet. He had dense hair which were all white and his temperament was that of an elder. Those white rays of light made him seem holy and untouchable.

Looking at the Old man, the prophetess was astonished as she cried out. "The God of Light!"

Yes, this was the God of Light, Victor. One of the Strongest Gods and the Only God of Human race. Apart from Sage Bertham, he was the only rank 13 High Human.

Every move of this God was closely watched by various Gods. So When he rushed over, there many powerful existences such as Demon God, Dwarf God of Craftsmanship, Three great elven Gods; Thundergod, Moon Goddess and even the Goddess of Nature, cast their gazes in that location.

Even after hearing what Victor said, the Wizard didn't seem to be intimidated and fired the spell.

"STOP!"

Victor hurriedly blocked the spell and it was broken with him suffering no injuries. He then looked at the Wizard and calmly said.

"Although you can project your powers over, your main body can't cross the Spacetime barrier unless you advance to a magi. Furthermore, you changing the fate of the only Arcane Prophetess will have drastic changes in the River of destiny. The Tide of fate and unpredictable probabilities generated from your actions may even harm you. It may be possible for you to shrug it off in your timeline but this is the past."

"That's my problem. I have seen in my vision that this Prophetess will be a great hindrance to my past self. When the rune of destiny is awakened then the fate of this Arcane Prophetess will change. This is her fate, it is my duty and you can't stop me!"

The Wizard's voice was not as loud as that of Victor but strangely it was heard by every existence of rank 10 and above. With his declaration, the spellbook tied to his waist floated in the air itself and opened. With a flurry of pages it stopped at a certain page and came right above the orb on the hand of Wizard.

The said Wizard then clasped his staff tightly, held it high and started chanting.

"With my title as the Wizard of Destiny, the thirteenth seer and Sage of Runes, I, Aren Constantine shall..."

Seeing this, the God of Light immediately attacked him in a bid to stop him. Not only Victor, but Other Gods and the usually silent Shadow Emperor and Archdevil of Hell also joined the fray. All of them attacked him with their strongest skills and spells but most of those would either miss the mark or weren't executed.

This Wizard from the future seemed unresonably lucky as no matter how much he was attacked, he would always evade those attacks. Even though attacks landed on him, the unusual power of time would make the attacks stop in their tracks.

This went on for seven minutes when the Wizard's robes started fluttering around. This meant that the spell was finished and only the last activation was left. When the Gods saw that their attacks were now completely inffective, they stopped their assault.

They just looked at this Wizard who was now in tattered robes. Even though his hat had many holes in it, there was still the same smile on his face. His body now glowed brightly as his aura reached its peak. Then almost every living being in the planet, be it plants or even underground animals, heard two words that they wouldn't forget for their whole life.

"Destiny Alteration!"
