16. Lying without getting red

''Where is it?'' The Emperor already yelled from the door, as he saw General Wang entering his office with empty hands.

''Calm down and let us talk. I must tell you something...'' He closed the doors and scrunched his eyebrows.

The Emperor saw his expression and went to the other side of the room, where they had an enclosed space. As soon as the Emperor and General Wang entered the space, the runes appeared around them and nothing could be heard from inside.

''You rarely use this thing. What is it?'' The Emperor was curious.

''I told you that those cookies were made by my future granddaughter in law, right?'' General Wang sat down and looked at the Emperor.

Now filled with curiosity the Emperor dragged his chair and sat right next to General Wang. ''Who is it?''

''It's not time to tell you. She is a nice child and very young. She makes those sweets with some special method and she can make it only once in a full moon. And only if its a clear sky as she uses the energy of the night sky, stars and moons. That is the reason you like it so much. It has some spiritual energy in it.'' The things General Wang was sprouting made Emperor astonished. He lied even without showing it or getting red.

''Food with spirit power?'' The Emperor licked his lips. ''How old is the child?''

''Five years. She said that the cookies can be prepared only then and only a certain amount of cookies can be made. You stole my last one. And I had only two.'' With a sad expression, he poked the Emperor's head. ''Do you know how much I waited for them? Three months!''

''That is long!'' The Emperor jumped from his chair. ''To wait for three months... How did you deal with it?''

''I used the impatience to spar with my grandson. Do you know that he got three and he is protecting them with his life? I think he is even sleeping with them.'' He started chuckling as he explained. He is not crazy to tell him that Wang Weiming had a huge box full of it.

''If I ask him to give me...'' The Emperor saw him already shaking his head. ''Don't tell me he would refuse?''

''He would. You know very well how crazy he has been about sweets since his childhood. Now getting sweets from the chosen one... He will get crazy. Don't. I promise to give you my two when she makes another batch. I promise.'' He patted the Emperors back and with a straight face promised two cookies.

''Luckily I believe your promises. So two cookies. Right?'' His eyes narrowed and he saw General Wang pressing his lips and agreeing.

''I promise. Just leave the young one in peace.'' He smiled as he thought about his grandson.

The Emperor flashed with a smile and nodded. ''I give you my word. But another question?''

''Yes?'' General Wang looked at him calmly.

''Isn't that child a tad bit too young to be called a bride. You know we do not have those stupid laws anymore. If you accepted her as a baby bride I can't accept that.'' The Emperor's face was quite serious but saw General Wang smile.

''Did you ever hear our family breaking any law?'' General Wang rose his eyebrow.

''No. But, your grandson...'' The Emperor was still curious about that girl.

''He likes the child, but he is aware of the age difference. He will wait for her to grow older and see how it will progress. If she finds someone else and gets married to another person, he already chose to accept it. But you know that our kind is quite stubborn. I think he will find a way to make her think about him more often.'' He was doing so many things to make his wife get feelings for him, his son as well. Nothing was just given freely to them. And they like it that way.

''Oh, so you still didn't engage him?'' The Emperor sighed in relief.

''Of course not. Her parents would mind as she is truly too young. We just like her as she is seriously too cute.'' He took a small parchment out his uniform and carefully opened it. ''I stole this from my grandson's room so I could show it to you.''

The Emperor opened the picture and smiled brightly as he saw the cute child with two sweet buns and cute clothes. ''Wow. She is truly a beautiful child. And she doesn't reject him?''

General Wang started laughing. ''Not only that. That girl holds him tightly in her hands. When she says something to be done, he literally flies to do it. An amazing feat, when you think about his stubborn character. She just found out he liked sweets, so she did all she could to make some special cookies. She found a recipe from an old woman, so she said, and since then every now and then, she would send a few cookies to us. ''

Both of them started laughing while looking at the child's features. The Emperor sighed. ''Long time ago I met a woman that had the same dimples like this child. But she married another man and had a daughter with him. She came from a long line of spirit beings. Wait, this child...''

General Wang shook his head. ''From what I could see, her parents are commoners. I do not think she has a long line of Magi. She is just a cute child.''

No matter what, he will now definitely not tell the Emperor about her ability to open windows to other worlds. Magi were almost extinct as everyone is trying to make them their own. They would escape with their powers, but some of them were captured and killed with special weapons. They didn't want to obey the rules and needs of those that wanted to use them for their own purposes.

No matter how much he liked the Emperor, but everyone can change if there is a chance to get more power. He must protect that child no matter what. If she is a Magi, then having his grandson as her protection was really set up by the heavens.
