02. Goodbye

''Oh, they dare. How stupid. Did they forget who I am? And who you are? Lanlan, I will clean them up and you prepare your bags. This is just the start. I fear that if you two stay here...'' His dark eyes turned towards the men that already shook in fear and slowly started walking in their direction.

Screams of pain could be heard as Yang Lanfen packed her and Li Na's bags and rushed out. Two dozen men lied on the floor and there was blood everywhere. She sighed. He still can't control himself when he starts.

''Bai Lu, this is a mess. What now?'' She pointed at almost two dozen dead people in pools of blood.

''Lanlan, this is something they should have expected. You are after all the last of your bloodline.'' He turned his head and looked at her with worry.

She smiled at him and shook her head while lowering her head and staring at Li Na.

''My bloodline is still alive. Unfortunately, the gift skipped me, but maybe she will be able...'' She wanted to go back home. This world is even worse than her own.

''Let's hope. This world is not worthy of us. I am tired of this world. Let us go back. We don't belong here." He patted her head. ''But Lanlan, she can't come with us. Even tho she is your child she still belongs to this world. Do you understand?''

''I know. Let's hope Li Na can help us go where we belong. Right?'' She kissed Li Na's head and calmly stepped over the dead bodies while the child's face paled slowly. The eyes of the child became a bit blurry, while she listened to what was going on in her surroundings.

She called a number, and a voice that made her heart beat faster, answered. ''Lanlan, what happened? You would never call me...''

''It's time to leave, my love.'' Her voice became aggrieved as she talked to him while smoke started appearing in the house behind her.

''What happened?'' He became panicky. "Where are you going?''

''Home. Bai Lu came and saved me and Li Na. I guess they can't see us happy and alive. I hope to find someone that is able to open the doors again in ten years. I will be back then.'' She sighed as she walked away from the burning house. Sound of sirens passed her and he could hear it.

''I will wait for you. Sorry I couldn't protect you. How weak am I? Sorry, my love.'' He understood. He knew that she loved him enough to stop being who she is, but now... ''Li Na?''

''I will leave her at your sister's place. From the whole family, I think she will be the only one who can protect her. I will come back for both of you if I find a way.'' She sent him a kiss over the phone and ended the conversation while he still held the phone on his ear.

''Ten years...'' Down his face, two streams of tears run down his face and he finally fainted. The guards quickly rushed in and saw that his condition suddenly became grave.

''...Are you sure about this?'' A woman coldly stared at her with anger in her voice. '' We can fight them together. You don't have to go back to that place anymore. He just got you out there? Are you that unwilling to live a normal life here?''

Yang Lanfen chuckled as she gave her Li Na. ''Normal? If it's for normal that two dozen men to enter my house and try to violate me while my daughter is not even a few metres away from me, then no I am not willing. The place I came from might have such situations, but we still have real law. Oh never mind. Protect Li Na, we will try to be back in ten years. At that time...''

She was really furious. Her whole body was shaking as she thought what could have happened.

''Mother took me a few times back home before she died and I felt that the world there was too scary. But after thinking about it, this world is scarier. Where I come from there are strong laws. Here even laws became so watered down that even smaller criminals can slip out and escape punishment.'' Yang Lanfen smiled sarcastically. ''If I knew this kind of thing would have happened I would have asked Mingli to live with me in our world.''

The woman rolled her eyes. ''He was next in inheritance, do you think he would have made such a decision? He couldn't give up all the hard work father put in to leave with a woman to the world he doesn't know and where he would be nothing more than a commoner.''

''So what if he was. I would have lived with him comfortably.'' She was stubborn about certain things while the baby opened her eyes and stared at the woman with an icy expression. ''I could have helped him. And your mothers family...''

''If its so, how comes you don't stay here and help him now? Why didn't you help him when he needed you?''

Yang Lanfen rubbed her head. She knew this question would come.

''Do I have powers to predict future? If we knew someone would set him up, we would have prepared in advance. But the evidence against him was too strong. Now, all we can do is to escape for now. Li Na can't come with us, as she is still too little. Li Na, open the door, child. Mother needs to go. Staying here is just too much for me.''

The woman wanted to curse her, but suddenly got shocked as she saw a strange thing happening. A strange light shone nearby and Yang Lanfen smiled gratefully at her daughter one more time.

''Thank you Li Na. In ten years, I will try to be back...'' But Bai Lu grabbed her hand as he saw the shiny opening wavering and jumped inside. Just as they passed the shine disappeared and nothing was left, then a heavy breathing woman and seemingly asleep child in her arms...
