Chapter 70

Within the Water Palace

Before the Crown Prince Voight sat a man in a loose robe with his legs over the desk showcasing his boots straight to Voight's face. Despite the blatant display of arrogance of this man, Voight didn't seem to care much and he was much more relaxed than the tensed situation he was in yesterday. The man had a violet coloured hair falling up to his shoulder and a dark purple coloured eye ball. This man was none other than Roger, the person whom Voight called for help.

He had arrived at the Water Palace early morning alongside three other Rank 2 mages. Just as Voight planned on discussing a strategy, Roger instead got up while asking Voight to lead him to the snake Palace.

"Don't be rash Roger. We need to be cautious and set a proper plan. I had already lost so many men while not knowing what had happened and what they had encountered. We had best send a group of assassins and scout the place to see how they had repelled my previous forces" said Voight while inwardly cursing the rash behaviour and arrogance of Roger.

Roger and Voight come from same sect called Sphinx which focuses on research of magical spells. After graduation from the mage Academy, mage sects tend to recruit talented individuals into their sect for further advancement. There were many sects with different specialisation. Some were battle junkies, some focus purely on improving spiritual energy and raising their ranks, some focus on research and innovation of new spells while some are adventurers seeking ancient magical tomes for power and immortality.

Being good at theoretical magic as well as with high IQ, Voight had been recruited to Sphinx where he spent a total of 10 years reaching Rank 3 and also being part of creation of quite the few spells. Despite being in the same sect and recruited at the same time, Roger was in the inner circle of the sect and was also from a large noble family of a different kingdom, one which is larger than Arcadia Kingdom.

The only reason for Voight to be able to request Roger was due to him saving Roger's life during a mission given by the sect.

"Don't tell me what to do and what not to do Voight. What in your opinion is dangerous is nothing to me. Do you think this backyard kingdom of yours will be able to threaten me?" said Roger in an arrogant tone while releasing his aura which made Voight tremble and say "Rank 3 completion stage!!".

Every mage Rank has Initial success, intermediate stage and completion stage. In other words Roger was infinitely close to Rank 4 mage. Knowing this Voight released a sigh as he knew that Roger was having a strength which was an absolute limit to be present in the Arcadia kingdom.

With the company of two Rank 2 mages brought by Roger, Roger and Voight made their way to the snake Palace. By the time they reach the palace, Roger had a preliminary plan of sending his two Rank 2 mages to test water before personally taking action.

Meanwhile within Snake Palace the second prince Lux and his uncle the Rank 3 mage decide on their next course of action. Without receiving any kind of message from the death squad, the second Prince's right hand man 'Faceless' had gone to collect information about the status of the mission imposed on the death squad.

With the attack force sent by Crown prince Voight dealt with the next would be to defend against further attacks.

With the shock of being attacked suddenly waning, Lux seemed to be in high spirits, especially with a powerful mage by his side things had become much more easy for him and he was already in cloud nine as if his ascension to throne was a given.

However unlike the carefree attitude of Lux, his uncle was having a heavy expression as if knowing that this battle was far from being over. Unlike his stupid ass nephew, he knew a bit about the crown prince as well as his connection with Sphinx sect and knew that if the crown prince was as prudent as he had heard of he would have one or two trump cards hidden just like how he was a hidden card played at the most crucial time by his ill sister.

Looking at the serious expression of his uncle, Lux tried to loosen him up a bit and asked his servants to bring drinks and also the girls to entertain his uncle. Hearing this Luther Lex Venice the second was livid with this good for nothing nephew of his while also cursing his sister for spoiling him as a child.

Luther was the third prince of the Venice kingdom and was named after his father. Without any interest of fighting for the throne, he pursued excellence in the field of magic and entered a sect called Iron and Blood sect. This Iron and Blood sect was quite small as compared to some bigger ones like Sphinx, Zeraphine, Valhalla etc which were active around the region of Venice, Arcadia and Sun Kingdom.

Sun Kingdom was a fabled place named due to never ending sunlight shone on the kingdom. In other words the kingdom never had night. This was a medium sized Kingdom unlike it's surrounding Kingdom or to be called as per the people of Sun Kingdom Arcadia Fiefdom and Venice Fiefdom which was small at best.

This was also the kingdom from where Roger hailed and any people from these three kingdoms had access only to these four sects to enter to pursue their study on magic.

Despite being smaller than the other three, the Iron and Blood sect was infamous and no mage sext thought them to be any lower than them. This was because this sect was a sect which trained elite battle mages. Each and every one of their members were cruel, ruthless, blood thirsty, battle maniacs who pursued excellence through fighting. This earned them the infamous phrase or more like an advice from the other three sects "If you encounter a member of Iron and Blood sect, Retreat. No repercussions would be imposed on the members for failure of mission".

Though Luther was cautious he too wasn't too tensed about the situation. So long the crown prince didn't bring a group of Rank 2 mages or more than two Rank 3 mages, he thought he had absolute confidence in killing them. This was a man who had survived the harsh training of the Iron and Blood sect and reached Rank 3. He had tonnes of battle experience that the other sect members simply couldn't comprehend.

Thinking of the crown prince bringing some Rank 3 mage from other sect, Luther became a bit relaxed albeit not too much. Despite him having the advantage, the other party would also be a Rank 3 at best, so he was a bit cautious as well.

Though members of Iron and Blood sect were blood thirsty battle maniacs that didn't mean that they were fools who didn't think properly. In fact they were cautious as well because of the strangeness they had experienced from different battles and exploration. Many who were just blood thirsty had also been killed by those Magi's who were of lower Rank than them. This made them never to take their opponents lightly and use their full potential in every fight and this attitude also made them rapidly advance in their fighting skills as well.

Not privy to all these information, Voight was bringing this group of Magi's who could at best be called researchers rather than fighters to a member of a psychopathic sect.
