Chapter 57

Brown hair, soft skin with a tinch of baby fat, cold blue eyes and a face filled with immaturity. This was the reflection that Sean saw when he looked at himself in the mirror and it felt almost strange, as if he was looking through the eyes of a stranger.

After yesterday's fight with the two assassins he was carried by his teammates while being barely conscious. He had already explained the situation to them and after looking at the scene and the bodies they were shocked to see a level 3 warrior could take on and kill a level 6 and 7 warriors who were part of the death squad.

Just as Sean had thought that he would most probably miss out on the mission which was supposed to happen the next day, he was healed by a mage with whom the Ms.Carmella's mercenary guild were affiliated with. It was a magical experience for Sean as he watched the mage call upon the powers of elements through spells and a white beam of light entered Sean's body instantly healing him from all the wounds.

This made Sean determined to quickly use regeneration gene serum which as per system's description could regenerate him even if his head was decapitated.

After returning to his room Sean had dozed off the second he hit the bed and only woke up after a nightmare.

While reaching his hand and placing it against the image which had formed on the mirror Sean rubbed the area of his his abdomen and thigh and had visions of his previous life where he was hung by the chains and being stabbed in his abdomen by a blade. The screams of his voice reverberated in that hell hole where he was being tortured currently echoed in his mind making him shake his head and bit his lips.

"I thought I had overcome those scars. Why now? Why after all these years? Why even after my death?". Questions swirled one after another in Sean's mind, however he did not have the time to think it as he felt a buzz from his badge, meaning that he was being called to the meeting room.

Changing his clothes Sean quickly made his way to the meeting room which was none other than Carmella's office.

Going inside Sean saw few members of the squad who are going to take part in today's escort mission and they greeted with a smiling face while looking at Sean.

They were shocked yet satisfied with Sean's performance as he had not only taken out two high level assassins, he was ruthless enough to make the assassins die a gruesome way. One look at the corpse made the members who were cleaning up the mess get chills down their spine.

The one who was dead inside the cubicle had a crack in his skull and stab on his foot but compared to the one who was dead in the floor of the bathroom, the dead one in the cubicle seemed too soft.

Pierced eye, empty socket filled with blood and squishy flesh, body riddled with strange circular wounds and stab wounds on his chest, broken elbow and broken and twisted ankle. This was the condition of the second body and along with the condition in which Sean was found one could see how brutal the fight was.

The office was soon filled by the members and started making small talks with each other. They also asked Sean how he was doing and whether he was ready for today's mission. They also asked him not to worry too much and that they would show him the ropes and guide him through the mission.

Just as Sean and others were making some small talk the door opened and Carmella, Cornelia and much to Sean's surprise and confusion it was Lucy. Though it only lasted for a moment Sean quickly composed himself but it seemed like Lucy had seen his reaction and just as she walked past Sean their eyes met and she gave a wink to him followed by a mysterious smile.

The confusion on the inside turned into a frown for Sean but nevertheless did not show it in his face and waited patiently for the meeting to begin.

The meeting started with Carmella calling Sean to the front and explain what had happened yesterday in detail.

Sean did not try to hide any fact and explained in great detail about how he identified that the waiter was suspicious and how he was attacked inside the restroom and also gave his reasoning on yesterday's scenario.

The members who were in the room were not idiots either and could easily guess that their meeting room was breached although they did not know how it had happened.

After accounting it fully Sean started walking towards the back of the room when Cornelia appreciated Sean for his work. Sean just nodded and gave a fleeting glance at Lucy.

The next few minutes was filled with final minute brainstorming of strategies to use in case of emergency. Despite the leak in their plan they made no effort changing it at the last moment as it would be dangerous to do so and would be reckless of them. Despite knowing that their enemies knew about their plan, the Cornelia's faction still held the absolute advantage whether in strength of forces or in their numbers.

Once the meeting was over the members started to walk out of the room to get themselves ready for the journey.

Cornelia also said that she was going to get room to make last minute preparation. Just as Sean was about to leave Carmella asked him to stay behind and that was when Sean noticed Lucy was holding a cup of hot tea and placing it Infront of Carmella.

"Thank you" said Carmella with a smile on her face and asked Sean whether he wanted to have some tea as well.

Sean simply shook his head and just stared at Lucy. Seeing this Lucy acted as if she was shy and joked around saying that she didn't mind being ogled like this and twirled around as though she was giving a show of her figure to Sean.

"Stop joking!" said Carmella and turned towards Sean and said "The reason I asked you to stay behind is because of her. Don't worry she is not Lucy. How can she be? after all you killed her".

For a moment Sean stiffened thinking that him sparing Lucy had been found out by Carmella but quickly recovered and just nodded.

"She is Phoebe and she is currently wearing the transfiguration mask that I lent her. I needed her to act as Lucy as she used to lead every important mission of the guild as the captain and now that she is dead I let her to act in her place inorder to not let the team panic. Further she is also a great friend and almost a sister like to Cornelia and she would be happy to have Lucy around. Make sure you give her help during the mission as you are the only one who knows about this and Phoebe isn't used to these kinds of missions".

Sean just registered every detail and nodded his head before leaving the room. Quickly moving to his room, Sean changed his outfit to get himself ready for battle.

Dark green camouflage suit which resembled the German KSK Jungle warfare suit was the outfit which Sean selected after checking the terrain they were taking to travel to the capital.

As per the member who explained about the route they were about to take to the capital the entire route from Golem city to the capital could be gone through various cities but it would take around 1.5 months to reach the capital and would have to go through lot of checkpoints. The best and the shortest route to take was through the jungle which only takes about 20 days to the capital.

Generally most of the people who travel go through the cities as the jungle was filled with dangers of bandits as well as danger beasts which are essentially beast which had Qi in them.

Normally no one would take the risk to travel through the jungle but as they were travelling as a group and strength of each member could be considered strong they could travel with ease provided they take necessary precautions.

After knowing they were travelling through a Jungle which had extremely dense vegetation and green scenery Sean decided to use the German Jungle warfare suite which was most suited as it would help him blend perfectly and since he was going to primarily be a sniper he had even prepared a ghillie suite and stored in the system.

For primary weapon Sean chose M4A1 assault rifle and a Beretta 92FS popularly called M9 Beretta which Sean had used during his time as a POO and as a PMC.

For sniping he had chosen Arctic Warfare Magnum (AWM) and had stored in the system. Every single weapon was calibrated by the system to kill a level 10 warrior and he had chosen green camouflage paint to be covered on them.

Apart from these he also had knives hidden on his belt, in the side of his leg and had also had grenade kept in the system.

Knowing that he had finished his preparation he set out of his room and instead of going to the hall and heading out to help others he walked to a side corridor in the second floor and hid in darkness while taking his pistol out and equipping a silencer to it.

Before he had gone to his room he had marked a certain room and decided to set an ambush in this corridor as this was the perfect place where the person occupying the room would walk by and was well hidden with dim lighting. In other words it was the perfect place to have a chat with a certain someone.
