“You fucker, you scared our mate, I could sense her fear” Achilles my wolf grumbled

“Shut the fuck up, I didn't even want a mate to begin with, so you’d better get used to the fact that we won't talk to her again.” I said trying to ignore the sudden ache in my chest.

“Who are you trying to fool? We already feel the mate bond even if we're not marked yet.”

“And we won't fucking be marked she's human, she's weak, a liability, we can't have her as a mate, why is the moon goddess trying to punish us?”

“Ace, I felt her wolf, I don't know how, but I could really feel her, even if I couldn't smell her, I can't really explain it, I think she doesn't even know it. She might have a dormant wolf gene.”

“Enough of this, we don't need a mate.”

My wolf retired to the back of my mind ignoring me. I mind linked Chase to come meet me by the lockers with Carter.

“What's up.” Carter said

“We need to talk, let’s go to our spot, we need privacy.”

We ditched school and went to our spot by the lake.

“I had an argument with my dad yesterday, he's forcing me to mate with Trinity if I can't find my mate by my 18th birthday. You know that I don't want a mate, true one or chosen one, it doesn't matter, I don't do relationships, and you already know how I want to rule the pack, there are so many things that need to be changed, my father can't see that his ways are obsolete, and that the rogues are attacking because we're at our weakest. I want to secure my pack, I want it to be stronger, because I need to get rid of any threats but also get revenge on the rogues that killed my sister, I don't need a weak mate in the equation.”

“And what's the plan.” asked Chase

“I wanted to use my mate, you know mate with her, to take over the pack and when the time's right maybe have an heir, but I'm not planning on being exclusive.”

“We're friends Ace, actually we're more than friends we're brothers, our families swore allegiance to each other, but I won't let you harm Azalea, she might be your mate but.... fuck... I don't know how to explain this, I’m very protective of her, I have to talk to grandma about it....”

“Spit it out Carter, I'm not that patient and you know it.”

“Just like I said a min ago, I feel protective of her... I don't know how explain it, but I would die for her, I feel like I could do anything to make sure she's safe, there's a bond between us...”

I couldn't control myself or Archilles, we pushed past Chase, and strangled Carter.

“DO YOU HAVE FEELINGS FOR MY MATE?”

“No you shithead. Let go of me.”

I let go, of him and stepped back.

“Fuck you dude, so much for not wanting your mate, I have feelings for her, non-romantic feelings, I feel protective of her, I don't know why, all I know is that magic is involved, I need to do some research, and eventually ask grandma. And seriously, do you think that she would wait for you? Dude you've seen the girl, she's hot, everyone at our lunch table was checking her out, someone is probably asking her out as we're speaking.”

Well Carter has a point.

“Fuck, I don't know what to do okay? Yes I'm fucking attracted to her, She's fucking hot, and the mate bond is really strong. But she's human, she's weak, Archilles said that he could feel her wolf but couldn't smell her. Do you know something about that?”

“Well that could explain why Carter feels protective of her.” Said Chase.

“How so?”

“Do you listen to the elders sometimes? Do you remember the stories about the white Luna who will...”

I interrupt him “Do you listen to yourself sometimes? those are bedtime stories, white wolves were massacred centuries ago, plus she doesn't come from a family of werewolves… unless she was adopted.”

Carter answered instantly “Nope she's not adopted, I'm 100% sure. But I have to do some research....anyway, I have to go back to school. Azalea needs a lift home after her swimming tryouts.”

“Don't tell me she's in the swimming team?!” Carter nodded.

“Fuck, let's go to school now.” it's going to be hard to ignore her, she's fucking hot with clothes, I don't even want to imagine her with a one piece in school being checked out by the guys, fuck I used to go with Chase and Carter to hook up with the girls at the swimming team.
