It turned out that the Denali coven were another vegetarian clan, who considered themselves cousins to the Cullens. They lived in Alaska. Harry wasn't opposed to meeting them, not that he knew why they wanted him to meet them, but he warned them to not share his secrets with them without permission, which they easily agreed to.
Lunch ended with Emmett not being able to convince Harry to let him have any more of their food. He didn't need it, but he really wanted it.
Just before the end of the day, Harry was called into the principles' office. Apparently the rumour had spread to the faculty and there were concerns that Harry was taking advantage of the female students. Nothing specific was mentioned, but the tone of the conversation led Harry to believe they'd heard about everything and that he'd better stop doing what he was doing.
He'd refused to comment when he was asked about it, and they decided to suspend him from school for a week, for his wish not to name any names or confirm anything.
That's why Harry spent the next week at home. He had not actually minded, since he had other things to do, so he went home with a smile and took out the two Vampires, which he placed in proper cells.
"When we get out of here, you will regret-" James was saying.
"Blah-blah-blah, I'm an angry vampire, blah." Harry mocked, as he muted the creature, who instantly tried to break the bars of his confinement. He was completely unable to do so, but he was trying anyway. Turning to Victoria, he asked. "And you?"
"What do you plan to do with us?" she asked, calmly.
"Well, as long as you're able to speak and think rationally, we could come to an understanding." Harry said. "Laurent is currently learning of the freedoms of an alternate immortal lifestyle."
"What alternate lifestyle?" she asked.
"You'll learn all about it, if you're good." Harry said, easily. "For now, I'm just informing you that you'll be helping me with a few experiments. I'll start with James, because you at least seem capable of talking without threatening me, simply for protecting my friends."
"If you kill him, I will do more than threaten you." Victoria promised.
"I'd expect nothing less." Harry said. "For now, why don't you take some time to sleep?"
"Vampires don't-" she started to say, before she fell over, unconscious.
"As for you…" Harry said, as he looked at the other vampire.

By the time school was let out, everyone had heard that Harry had been suspended for 'undisclosed reasons'. The female student body nearly revolted, but calmer heads prevailed and many of the girls started planning on going to visit Harry, to 'keep him updated'.
The Cullen girls would not let that happen, though. Alice and Rosalie publicly discussed going to Harry's place to give him his assignments and to keep him up to date on what he was missing, ensuring that the biggest gossips heard them. It might lead to rumours about more shenanigans, but that was hardly their main concern. There was also the fact that Harry was publicly friends with the Cullens and none of the girls wanted to compare themselves with the beautiful vampires, which would just add another buffer.
So it was that the Cullens, minus Bella and Edward, showed up at Harry's house. Bella actually needed to do her homework and study, but Edward tended to sneak in and help her, when she could keep her eyes off him, which was what he was doing.
Harry knew it was them, so he made the door open itself and yelled, "I'm in a hidden room! Give me a minute!"
"The stairs are not there." Jasper said, indicating to where the staircase up had been before.
"Invisible?" Emmett mused as he walked over and felt for anything they couldn't see. He felt nothing. "Probably in some other dimension or something." he guessed.
"I was in a space a few hours from now, I think." Harry said as he appeared out of nowhere.
"Hours?" Alice asked.
"It's part of the whole infinite space thing." Harry said. "The space is empty in a few hours, so the technology manipulates the empty space from then, so that I can use it now."
"How does that work?" Rosalie asked interestedly.
"I have no idea." Harry admitted. "I only barely understood some of the concepts those people used."
"What were you doing?" Jasper asked.
"Setting up the next part of testing." Harry said. "I'm growing a human body for James. It should be ready by tomorrow."
"Just like that?" Rosalie asked.
"Yes, just like that." Harry said. "The problem is one of security. If I made one of you human, the Volturi might decide to either kill you, to maintain the secret, or turn you again, if they ever found out. I need to test a few things to ensure that doesn't or can't happen, before I proceed with a solution for you. I also need to see how his mind reacts and a few other factors. Fortunately, he's a bit on the irredeemably evil side, so I have no problem experimenting on him."
"And Victoria?" Alice asked.
"If I don't need her for testing, I'll likely make her human once I've achieved success, and then set her free." Harry said with a shrug. He'd not trust that woman, if her mate died in testing. "So, what are you all doing here?" he asked.
"We heard you got suspended." Emmett said. "The girls wanted to make sure you don't get too many unwanted guests, so they volunteered to bring you your school assignments."
"Cool." Harry said, as Rosalie handed him a few pages of paper. He looked at the papers, reading them over and placed them on the table, where another piece of paper appeared and writing started filling the page, until it vanished and another page appeared.
"Your homework does itself?" Jasper asked.
"Why would I want to do it?" Harry scoffed. "I've got other things to do."
He went down to the garage, with the vampires following him curiously, and started laying his hands on the Chevy, as he focussed his power into the vehicle.
"You're making your flying car, right now?" Emmett asked excitedly.
"I've suddenly found that I have a week to do as I want." Harry said with a shrug. "Might as well go meet these mysterious cousins of yours."
"You could take the bike." Jasper suggested.
"Shut up!" Emmett said, instantly.
"Too cold out that way." Harry said, smirking at Emmett. "I also like music on long trips."
"Dibs!" Emmett said instantly, pointing at the front passenger seat.
"You can take turns, if you're all going along." Harry said. "I suspect Carlisle will stay to keep up appearances?"
"He might take a few days off, for this." Jasper said.
"It's been a while since we've had an opportunity to see the cousins." Alice agreed.
"Edward will likely stay behind, with Bella, and Esme wouldn't go without Carlisle." Rosalie said. "When will the car be ready?" she asked, looking at the seating and space. It would be cramped if there was any more than those currently present.
"I could finish it by this evening, but I want to get the test with James finished before I leave." Harry said.
"So, we could leave in about two days?" Alice asked.
"Probably." Harry shrugged. "There's no rush of course, but I've got this free time, so…"
"Best take advantage of it, while you have it." Jasper agreed. He'd love getting away from all these humans. The temptation was still always lurking at the back of his mind and he was never able to really relax.
"I'll call ahead and arrange things." Rosalie volunteered. "You're set on two days?"
"Should be fine." Harry nodded, as he bent over and placed his hand on one of the wheels.
"What are you doing now?" Emmett asked.
"I like to have my car react in the sky, like when I'm on the road, so I add something for that." Harry said, as he focussed his power.
Over the next couple of hours, Harry spent a lot of energy on his new toy. They'd only started it up the once, but it was purring beautifully and his power informed him that everything was working as it should. Better even, since he'd hardened certain parts against wear and tear and added resistance to metal fatigue and exposure to too much heat. He'd be able to open her up all the way without fear of the engine sustaining any damage.
By the time he was finished, Harry was ready to test drive the Chevy. The others quickly entered the car, before Harry could object, but he wasn't going to complain. He'd started liking their company enough that he wanted to share this with them.
The Chevy roared to life and Harry revved the engine a couple of times, loving the sound of the turbo, as it kicked in. He opened the garage and exited slowly, waiting for it to be closed, before he opened her up and sped out of the driveway at speeds that would be considered reckless, to anyone besides the vampires in the car with him. He intended to test the limits of the car on the road before he took her up, so he turned away from the town and raced out of it at maximum acceleration, which was quite a lot, with the magical modifications.
"This engine should not be able to handle this kind of power." Rosalie stated calmly, even though she smiled. "You modified something?" she asked.
"Strengthened and protected the parts, so that I can push her past her limit." Harry said. "That's why I love the older cars. No computers that do things which I can't modify easily."
"But, you could do that?" Emmett asked.
"Sure, but without computers, it becomes infinitely simpler." Harry said, as he took a corner at a speed that should have seen the car skid out or flip, but it was sticking to the road like it was magnetized.
The others had not known to expect that and their excitement grew as the rev counter entered and passed the red, while he just kept on accelerating. Pretty soon the engine started being too loud, becoming a high pitched note, so he silenced it and continued accelerating. The vampires were still too shocked to speak and Harry was now doing things, still on the road, that they had not known to expect from even him. His reflexes were definitely on another level to normal humans.
There was still a limit to what could be reached on the ground, however, and pretty soon Harry slowed them down to only three times the speed limit, before he activated flight.
The vampires were completely silent, as they became the first flying passengers in Harry's car. He took them up and started accelerating again. They were all experiencing the thrill only Rosalie had experienced before, as Harry flew them in a large circle around the town, quickly exceeding the speed that commercial airliners could even achieve.
"We'll be able to visit the Denali in just a few hours at this speed!" Rosalie said excitedly.
"We're not even at max speed yet." Harry said. "I still need to add more, for us to go faster than this, but with a bit of a wind-shear effect, I'll be able to triple this speed easily. More, if I can get us to a higher altitude, to further reduce air friction."
"I really like you, man." Emmett said. This kid was just opening so many doors for them, and he was feeling quite attached to him.
"You're not my type." Harry said easily, as he turned them back to his house. He'd need more time to add vertical manoeuvrability, so he'd need at least the distance of his driveway to get them safely to the ground.
After they touched down, Harry bade them farewell, because his feeble human body needed to rest. He'd spent quite a bit of power, so he really needed the rest. They chuckled, but left him to his own devices. As they left, they saw a very familiar car coming up the driveway. Stopping next to the car, they informed Jessica that Harry was tired and had gone to bed. It would be best to let him sleep. She wasn't happy about being turned away by them, but agreed and left as well. She was not some needy fan-girl. She could wait for a bit more fun.
The next day, Harry set to work on James. He was surprised that he felt the presence of Esme, in the woods behind his house, while he was working and went out to go see what was going on.
"Hi Esme." Harry said, startling the vampire by his sudden appearance.
"Harry!" she exclaimed. "How did you do that?"
"I've got quite a few tricks I haven't shown you." Harry smirked at her. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
She had the decency to look apologetic. "Jasper didn't say why, but he felt that some backup might be a good idea for you, while you did your experiments today."
"He didn't tell you?" Harry asked.
"He said that he promised you to keep it between the two of you." Esme said. "I can only assume it has to do with your initial experiment with him?"
"There was a situation that happened while I was working with him, yes." Harry allowed. "That shouldn't happen today, though. You don't need to worry."
"All I'm hearing is that 'should' you threw in there." Esme said sternly, adapting a reasonable impression of a stern maternal figure.
"Fine." Harry said with a roll of his eyes. "You can come watch when I do the next part. It should put your mind at ease at least."
He led her into the house and into a new room on the hidden floor, where he asked her to stay behind the glass doors to the clean room. He went in and went through decontamination, before he donned a lab coat and entered the room proper.
On two futuristic looking medical examination tables, lay two identical James bodies, except one was not as pale and it definitely looked human. They were both in medical gowns and they both looked asleep.
"I was just about to start the mental transfer." Harry said, as he placed what looked like two diodes on the vampires' temples, before doing the same with the human body.
Going to a control panel, he pressed a couple of keys, confirmed a couple of things and then nodded. "There you go. The memories are being copied. According to the program… Wow. It'll take twelve hours. I've never seen it needing more than one." he said through the connected communication system.
"Is that going to be a problem?" Esme asked in concern, from where she was watching Harry work.
"I don't know." Harry said. "I don't understand this. We'll likely need to see when it completes."
"Will he stay under for that entire time?" Esme asked.
"Both him and the clone are under until I release them." Harry said, as he appeared next to Esme. "All we can do now is wait." he added as he removed the coat and placed it in a bin, which would clean it and return it to the clean environment.
"This is all very impressive." Esme said, indicating the lab environment. "Do you have any qualifications?"
"Not in this world." Harry said. "I could probably qualify for a few things, but I try to stay away from the sciences, because I don't want to be tempted into interfering with a world's natural technological development."
"You just build flying cars and clone humans." Esme said, with a raised eyebrow and some humour in her voice.
"I'm not giving this stuff out or teaching people how to do it." Harry countered, as he led her downstairs again.
The staircase disappeared as soon as she was off it and she showed shock only for a moment, before following him into the kitchen, where he was already planning on putting something together for them.
He pulled out a hose from under a counter and pressed a button on the side, with the nozzle over a large glass bowl. Out of the nozzle came a stream of what was unmistakably, blood.
"What's that?" Esme asked, in shock.
"Your dinner." Harry said easily. He filled the bowl halfway and then placed the hose away again. He held his hand over the blood and a bit of it separated, flowing up and formed a bubble over his hand, where it started reforming into something else. "Sirloin steak sound good?" Harry asked as he pulled out a pan and started heating it on the stove.
Harry then took a bit more of the blood and turned it into oil, which covered the meat. Then spices, made the same way.
"That's how you've been preparing our meals?" Esme asked in wonder. No wonder everything was edible even though it smelled like normal food.
"Well, it took a bit of experimentation, but I got it in the end." Harry said. "Turns out, I shouldn't try to make the meal all at once, like I used to. Using my actual skills, with parts separately prepared, makes it come out much better."
He continued preparing the meal and once it was done, he placed it in a container, which was not just a simple vacuum-sealed device, as much as it was spelled to keep things fresh until it was opened. He next prepared a glass of red wine, the same way, placed it in the container and closed the lid.
"I'm thinking a nice Cabernet Sauvignon will pair nicely with this." Harry said, with a thoughtful look. "Does Emmett still like the burgers better than the steak he had last time?"
"You put that much effort into our individual meals?" Esme asked. Harry always tended to send different meals along for everyone. She hadn't known he put this much thought into it, though.
"It gives me the opportunity to work my skills." Harry said offhandedly. "I'm thinking he'll likely be in the mood for something a bit spicier this time. Maybe a chilli sauce, with a milkshake on the side?"
Harry continued working, pulling out devices to process the foods and making everything fresh. Even the milkshake was made by making fresh ice-cream and then adding other items, to give it a personal touch, before blending it all together and making a thick creamy milkshake, which went into a tall glass, which went into the container.
"Why do all this for us?" Esme asked.
Harry considered this for a bit, before deciding to be honest. "You all seem like nice people, just trying to coexist and putting in the effort to seem like regular folk. I can appreciate that. I've been in similar situations and would not have minded someone helping with the day-to-day."
"You're a really generous young man." Esme said. Deciding to stop standing around, she rolled up her sleeves and started cleaning the implements he was using to prepare the food.
"You really don't need to." Harry said. "I can clean them easily by my own means."
"But this gives me something to do other than feeling useless." Esme countered. "Also, it's fascinating seeing you work. With the ingredients you make, I can finally start grasping why you do things the way you're doing them. The smell is different, so my senses are actually picking up when the flavours combine and in which ways."
"So, you're saying you want to help making the food?" Harry asked.
"If you don't mind, I'll watch for a bit." Esme said. "Maybe I can help you in the future and we could do things more quickly?"
"You're trying to play the mom role you normally portray." Harry said in realisation. He could accept that. "If you can keep how I make this all to yourself." he countered. "I kind of like being able to provide something you can't make for yourself."
"The fact that you can make any ingredient you feel is necessary probably helps keep this interesting." Esme said, nodding along. "I'll keep your secret. Though, now you'll likely be seeing me more often."
"You're good people, Esme." Harry said, smiling at her. "If you want, I may even send some ingredients home with you, to make something for your family at some point."
The answering smile Harry received was warm and grateful. He soon continued preparing more dishes. Rosalie and Alice would be eating sushi. Edward would get a burger with a garlic and mushroom sauce. Carlisle got a chicken salad and Jasper got a nice T-bone steak. The bone was conjured, though, since it would be pointless to use blood to transfigure something he could not eat.
By the time all the meals were prepared, they'd spent a good few hours in the kitchen and Harry decided to do something nice for Esme. He made her a chilled beer and some salty nuts to enjoy with it, while he poured himself some real beer. They were soon sitting on the balcony, while Harry sat back to relax after having stood in the kitchen for so long.
Harry was surprised to see a police van drive up his driveway, when he'd only half finished the beer.
"Hi Charlie." Harry called from the balcony, as Charlie exited the van. "Or is it Chief Swan today?"
"That depends." Charlie said, as Harry indicated for him to join them on the balcony. When he reached the top, Charlie spotted Esme. "Mrs Cullen?" he asked.
"Hello, Chief Swan." Esme smiled at him.
"What are you doing here?" Charlie asked.
"Harry's been showing me a few tricks in the kitchen." Esme said.
"That makes sense." Charlie allowed. He knew of Harry's talent in the kitchen. "Do you mind if I… is that a beer?" he interrupted himself as he spotted the beer next to Harry's seat.
"Yup." Harry said.
"You're underage." Charlie said.
"True. Here in America, I'm not allowed. Back in England I'd have been legal for a drink." Harry said.
"But you're not in England." Charlie said.
"I'm not driving, Charlie, and one beer isn't going to turn me into a delinquent. I even have adult supervision." Harry said.
"I only gave him the one, Charlie." Esme said calmly, trying to cover for him. "The rest is going home with me." she said, indicating her own drink.
"He's supposed to be suspended, not having fun chatting up his friend's mom." Charlie said. "This ties in with what I wanted to come talk to you about." he said sternly. "I know that you had a party here and rumour has it that there was alcohol."
"Yeah, some of the older kids did sneak a drink or two." Harry said. "I even think they spiked the punch."
"And you did nothing about that?" Charlie asked.
"I'm not stupid, Charlie." Harry said, showing a bit of his maturity as he straightened. "I made sure nobody that drank drove and I made sure nobody went home with someone they didn't show up with. Did you want me to call you and commit social suicide?"
Charlie wasn't expecting that honest of an answer, so he sighed. "If they didn't drink here, they'd do it somewhere else." he agreed. "I didn't mean to insinuate that you were irresponsible. I just don't like hearing the rumours I have been."
"Oh, right." Harry said. "That makes sense. Yes, I did get intimate with someone, but I'm not telling you who, just like I wouldn't tell the principal, since that's between me and her. And I'm not apologising, since it was both consensual and I was sure to be safe."
"It wasn't-" Charlie started, but he saw the look in Harry's eye. "Right, Bella's dating Edward."
"He's taking good care of her, too." Harry said. "Wouldn't let her touch the punch after that kid spiked it. Stuck with the clean stuff from the fridge."
Charlie looked at Harry through narrowed eyes. The kid was playing him, telling him exactly what he wanted to hear. "Don't think I don't see what you're doing." he warned.
"Charlie, if I wanted to hide what I was doing, I'd have lied to you." Harry said. "I could have gotten rid of the beer before you made it up here. I could have denied getting laid, or made it sound like less than it was. Instead I'm being completely honest with you, without betraying any confidences and giving you no reason to doubt my words. I don't want you to have reason to dislike me, so I volunteered things as well."
"Harry is a very honest person." Esme said. "I don't think he'd tell you things he feels are private, but he'd never try to deceive you. The only reason he's even having that drink, is because I believe he's mature enough to enjoy it like any man would, after spending hours on his feet teaching me how to not burn water."
"You're not that bad." Harry said back to her. "You just need to slow down a bit and learn the steps we're working on."
"Harry's been feeding the kids." Esme said. "I felt terrible that they prefer his cooking to my own, so he's offered to help me."
Charlie had a lot of respect for Doctor Cullen, and he'd be inclined to let this one go, but he still needed to know something. "Okay, fine. One beer won't kill you, but what about this other rumour, the one you were actually suspended for?" he asked.
"While I do consider that private, and I feel I have every right to my privacy, I'll admit to the fact that I had an intimate situation occur that involved myself and two others." Harry admitted. "If you heard the rumours, you already know that it's something no man would pass up if the opportunity presented itself. I didn't instigate that either. They came to me."
"Were they at least sober, and old enough?" Charlie asked.
"They're both in the same year as me." Harry said. "And I ensured to be careful and safe."
"You're seriously telling me that two girls showed up at your house, asking for you to… you know." Charlie said, not being able to finish the sentence.
"Well apparently one of them were bragging so much that the other wanted to try it." Harry chuckled. "Like I said, what man in his right mind would turn that down?"
Charlie agreed, internally, but wouldn't be admitting to it. "I suggest you start taking it slow." he finally said. "I understand having a bit of fun, but these things could start getting out of hand. Trust me, one woman is enough to ruin a man. Two could make your life a living hell."
"We're not dating Charlie." Harry said. "We were just enjoying ourselves. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as I'm careful, right?"
"No, not alright." Charlie decided. "This isn't a large town. There's parents breathing down my neck, because they are worried for their daughters. As a father, I don't like hearing these things either, so slow down, before you have an angry mob at your door."
Harry sighed. "Fair enough." he said. "If any more adventurous girls decide to make a move, I'll gently dissuade them, and I'll make sure they all know I'm not looking, okay? I've got other things I want to spend my time on anyway."
Charlie visibly relaxed after that. "Thanks for understanding. I know that it can be hard giving up on something like this, especially at your age. Especially with how popular you seem to be."
"It's no trouble, Charlie." Harry said. "I can always get lucky when I'm older."
"I'm not saying become a monk." Charlie said, finally having regained his humour. "Just, let this die down a bit and then limit yourself to properly dating someone before they start spreading rumours about your… skill."
"I doubt that's possible." Esme said. "According to rumour, Harry has a huge-"
"Stop!" both Harry and Charlie said.
Charlie turned to Harry. "You're not thinking of seducing Mrs Cullen, right?"
"Dude! She's my friend's mum!" Harry objected. "Sure, she's attractive, but… Just, no."
"Had to be sure." Charlie said. Especially with what she had just started saying.
"I was going to say 'talent in the kitchen'." Esme finished, smirking. "Apparently there's a lot of people who want to taste his cooking."
"I'll just be going now." Charlie decided.
"We're still on for steak, right?" Harry asked. "Next weekend?"
Charlie stopped, thought about it and then nodded, before leaving. He'd not thought the kid would still want to do that. This had been a difficult conversation, but he'd needed to address it, with how many people were complaining. At least now he could say that the kid was closing his bedroom door for a while, while he focussed on his other passions.
"That was uncomfortable." Harry said.
"Why didn't you?" Esme asked.
"What?" Harry asked.
"Lie." Esme said. "It would have been easier than to have to say all that."
"I don't like lying." Harry said. "Lies tend to spiral out of control, and the more secrets you have, the easier they all start crumbling, until you have to resort to other evils, to keep your secrets."
"You could have said the beer was non-alcoholic or that it was none of his business, when he asked about your sex-life." Esme said.
"But then he'd never trust me." Harry said. "Bella's still my friend. When I tell Charlie something, I need him to trust me. When he tells people that he trusts me, now, their trust in him will make things easier on everyone." He sighed then. "Now I need to stop having a sex-life again. It was just starting to look like I was going to be able to practice those skills again, too."
"You really like using your skills, don't you?" Esme asked.
"If you could fly, wouldn't you do that every day?" Harry countered.

When Esme returned home shortly before evening, she was loaded down with dinner and some fun new information, but she kept her promise and kept from mentioning what he was doing in his lab and how he was preparing their food. Apparently the kids had decided to spend some time on their own pastimes, since Esme was keeping an eye on Harry.
The revelations about his character didn't shock anyone. Harry was a stand-up guy and they all knew it. Esme did mention that Harry was teaching her how to cook like he did. Preparing the ingredients would still be his job, but Esme might soon be able to prepare food for them like Harry did. This was actually a shock to them, as they had assumed it was magic, or some advanced technology from a different world. They did ask after it, but Esme refused to betray his confidences.
The food was appreciated, as always, and after everything was consumed, the containers were cleaned and the kids were sent to go return them to Harry.
When Harry opened the door for them, Rosalie was the first one in. She actually hugged him in thanks for the meal. "I think I may actually have a favourite food now!" she exclaimed.
"Liked the sushi, did you?" Harry asked with a smirk.
"I couldn't get enough!" Rosalie agreed. "If there was something to make our meals more delicious and satisfying, you've discovered it."
"I must admit to feeling more satisfied after one of your meals, than our standard fair." Jasper said, his Texan drawl coming out as he gave his heartfelt thanks. "Thank you. It really means a lot to us that you are making the effort."
"Yeah, Esme wouldn't tell us how you do it, and Edward said she's not even thinking about it, to help you keep your secret." Emmett said, as he pulled out a stack of bills and placed them in Harry's hand.
"What's this?" Harry asked.
"Apparently you've been using your culinary skills to cook for us for a while and Carlisle requested that you get a payment that reflects both your skill and our gratitude." Edward said. "We know you don't need the money, but we all feel you deserve it for your effort."
"But this is way too much!" Harry said, looking at the fat stack of bills.
"Money really isn't an issue for us." Alice said. "Don't think that's your only reward, either. We're still thinking of something you might actually appreciate."
"Information is always appreciated." Harry said. "I don't know everything about your culture and I'm interested in any information about the Volturi and other supernatural things in this world." he said as he led them to the back yard. "Not that I did it for that." he added quickly, knowing it may seem like he was trying to bribe them to give away secrets that could get them in trouble.
He was putting up some glass walls and a domed glass ceiling, so that the pool area could be enjoyed even with how cold it could get in this area. Despite the fact that the water was heated, getting out in the cold was simply not healthy… for humans, at least.
"Ooh, this could work nicely." Alice said. "Maybe a bit of ventilation is a good idea, though. And you can add a couple of lights, and-"
"Why do you always do that?" Harry asked.
"What?" Alice asked.
"Make suggestions and add things." Harry clarified.
"It's what I do." Alice said. "Emmett, could you-"
"The shops are closed." Edward interrupted.
Alice frowned at that. If only they had access to places that had… "Harry, could you fly us to a place that has 24-hour shopping?" she asked sweetly.
Harry's shoulders slumped. He wasn't going to get any rest tonight. "I have something that might work, but only one of you can come with me on the bike."
"I'll go." Alice said, instantly. She'd wanted to go on the bike anyway.
"Come on then." Harry said, walking to the door. He turned back to look at the others. "Don't go breaking down my house while I'm out." he requested.
Harry and Alice went to the garage and Harry mounted the bike, Alice jumping on behind him.
Harry didn't open the garage, but he did start his bike and floated them up slightly, before they disappeared and reappeared floating in the air above New York. "Welcome to the city that never sleeps." Harry said, as he started them moving. "Any particular places you want to visit?"
Alice was quiet and when he looked back, he saw that she was just staring at him again. "Teleportation? Really!?" she finally asked.
"We called it something else back in my original world, but it is pretty accurate to call it that." Harry allowed.
"You can just go anywhere you want?" Alice asked.
"Anywhere I've been." Harry corrected. "It has to do with something I added to the bike. I don't want to waste too much energy right now and I need to reserve what I have for the completion of my test in a few hours."
Alice was in her element and, keeping in mind how much they could carry on the bike, only stopped at a few places to get decorations and things that would add something to Harry's pool room. When he started shrinking and placing things in his pocket, like he normally would, her eyes developed a gleam and quickly their short trip became a longer one.
By the time they came back, the others had started using the decorations Alice had used before and laying wiring, all neatly hidden, so that they could power whatever Alice had ended up getting. When they revealed a whole load of timber, tools, accessories and a whole pool table for the pool room, there was the expected reaction. Then Harry was told to finish the room, so that they could take over.
By the time Harry left to go finish his experiment, Alice had many ideas and had told him that he was forbidden to enter the pool room until they were done. The others just sighed. Sometimes, not needing sleep worked against them, and they had no excuses to being pulled into the work.

A few hours later they'd not heard from Harry at all and they were starting to get worried, since he had told them it should only take a short while. Edward went to go check his room and found he wasn't there. On his way back, he noticed the stairs Jasper had mentioned. He quickly called the others together and they sped up the stairs, to see if they could find Harry.

Harry had confirmed that the process had completed and went to go check on the human body. It seemed fine, but he needed to confirm that there wasn't something strange going on, since there was that long copy. He went to the human body and focused his power, to skim the memories that should have been copied. That's when he hit the floor.
The next thing Harry knew, he had a massive headache, which was disorienting him and he was in his bed. He didn't remember going to bed, either.
"Harry?" a gentle voice spoke up before he even opened his eyes. It was Carlisle. "Harry, are you alright?" he asked.
"Ugh." Harry said intelligently. "Migraine." he said.
"Hold on, I've got something for that." Carlisle said, and Harry heard the sound of movement as the Doctor likely went to get something from his bag. "Do you have any issues with normal medicine?" Carlisle asked when he was next to Harry again, a glass of water in his hand and three pills in a small cup. "Help him sit up." he added to the side.
"Potions work better." Harry said, as Esme, apparently also in the room, helped him sit up. "But I can use the normal stuff." He took the small cup and popped the pills into his mouth, before he drank them down with the water. "What happened?" he asked.
"We don't know." Carlisle said. "Edward and the others found you on the ground next to the human body."
"Your nose was bleeding and you wouldn't respond, so I called Carlisle." Rosalie said, from the door.
"What do you remember?" Carlisle asked.
"It's fuzzy." Harry said, as he closed his eyes and thought back. "I confirmed the copy was done and then… just, nothing. Was James still knocked out?" he asked.
"Neither of the bodies have moved." Edward confirmed. "We weren't certain how you were keeping him contained, so we've been watching."
"Did you follow clean-room procedure?" Harry asked, instantly.
"I'm afraid we didn't know the procedure." Jasper said. All the Cullens were now in the room with him. "The glass doors will need to be replaced and I suspect your clean room cannot be considered clean anymore."
"That's a problem." Harry said. "That equipment needs to be carefully maintained. If something got in, I might not be able to fix them."
"We already cleaned it up and sealed the room." Alice said.
"You should have just retrieved me and left it alone." Harry whined. "I'm not ungrateful. It's just, that stuff can be very fragile."
"We didn't wear our clothes and Rose and I cleaned ourselves as best we could before entering." Alice offered. "The decontamination thing still works. It's just not as well sealed as it used to be."
Harry thought about it. That might have helped actually. "Thanks." he said.
"We realised it was a clean-room, so we tried to keep everything as it was and we didn't go near your equipment." Rosalie said, nervously. She was really worried that there was damage. If he needed that equipment to help them and they damaged it, she'd not be forgiving herself anytime soon.
There was silence for a bit as they waited for the medication to work. When the headache faded a bit, and Harry found he could focus better, he did so and a bottle appeared hovering before him. Carlisle took it and looked at it. "Is this the potion?" he asked. There was a label, but it was really faded and even his vampire eyes couldn't make out what it said.
"It's a headache potion." Harry agreed.
"How much?" Carlisle asked. He was concerned that it might be affected by the medication and he voiced his thought.
"It is a magic potion." Harry said. "It doesn't work like medication, so it can't react. 60ml should be enough."
"Is that considered a high dose?" Carlisle pressed.
"It's standard for what I'm experiencing." Harry said.
Carlisle opened the bottle and instantly regretted it. The smell was awful and it smelled toxic to his vampire senses. Nevertheless he measured out the dosage and handed Harry the beaker he had used.
Harry drank the potion in one go, shuddering at the taste, but then relaxed as it instantly started working, as designed. "Ah, that feels so much better." Harry sighed.
"What's in that stuff?" Edward asked, with a look of disgust. They'd all smelled it.
"You don't want to know." Harry said. "Seriously. If I think about it now, I might need another potion to settle my stomach and I like drinking that even less."
"Are all magic potions like that?" Alice asked.
"Where I'm from, there were more mundane ingredients." Harry said. "I've had to re-supply since and the reagents I needed sometimes wasn't easily attainable, or in the same forms as I was initially taught. Better than going without, though." He shuddered again, as his mind finally came back to him. "Oh. Now I get it." he said.
"What?" Esme asked.
"Your minds work differently." Harry said. "That was the reason it took so long to copy. There's too much detail, with your enhanced senses, and as a result your minds have adjusted."
"How did that affect you?" Carlisle asked.
"I tried to read James's memories, to ensure the copy worked." Harry said. "The amount of detail and the compact nature of the stored memories caught me off guard and overloaded my mind."
"You tried to read his mind?" Carlisle asked. He didn't understand why that was necessary.
"I needed to know that the human mind was working after that long process." Harry said. "Unfortunately, this might be a problem. His mind is there, but his human physiology will not be capable of handling it, like mine couldn't. I'll need to try something else." He turned to Rosalie. "I'm really sorry. You'll have to wait longer, while I try and get around this."
"You don't need to apologise." Rosalie said. "If it takes you years, I'll not mind, as long as you don't do something like that again. We like having you around enough to not want you to threaten your mind."
"We were really worried, Harry." Alice said. "You're so unique, we didn't know what to do. We just found you. We don't want to lose you to some silly mistake."
"I wasn't in any danger." Harry said. "These things happen when you learn about new sciences. I just need to figure it out, or at least, figure out an alternate solution."
"Then do that." Rosalie demanded.
"I suppose I could extract some DNA from you and Emmett and have the sequencer create a baby for you, in the meanwhile." Harry allowed. "It's not the human life you wanted, but it will give you, oomph!" he exclaimed as Rosalie was suddenly attached to him in a death-grip of a hug. "Air." he wheezed out.
Rosalie's hold lessened, but she refused to let him go.
"You can't say things like that to her and not expect that reaction." Emmett said, with a soft smile Harry had not seen on his face before. "She wants children really badly."
"Well, babies aren't all that difficult." Harry allowed. "You won't be able to carry it yourself, of course, but maybe I can set it up so you can be around during development?"
"When?" Rosalie asked, eagerly, as she moved back, to look him in the eyes.
"I need to check the equipment, and then I should be able to start on something like that as soon as tomorrow." Harry said. "The only problem being that there's still that pesky vampire government that will likely kill any humans that know about vampires, including your baby."
Rosalie's eyes flashed at that. "So when do we start killing them?" she asked lowly.
"I never said I want to wipe out vampires." Harry said. "I just want to be sure that things are kept in check. If we can get the Volturi to change their ways, and enforce different rules, I don't see why we can't keep them alive."
"Aren't you supposed to protect humans?" Edward asked.
"I'm just a visitor to this world, Edward." Harry said. "I'm not the ultimate authority. I can't set up a system that will just fail once I'm gone."
"If you kill all the vampires that kill humans, or make it so that they can't, that will provide a safe system." Alice suggested.
"Nah, there are always reasons to kill humans." Harry said. "I don't mind the destruction of evil people, after all. I'm actually all for that. In my time doing my job, I've killed millions of humans." There were shocked looks all around. "What, did you think I was some sort of saint? Evil only flourishes when good people do nothing about it."
"I'm really starting to like you." Edward said. Harry had confirmed that he had a soul and that he wasn't as evil as he thought himself, because he once did rebel against Carlisle and killed people, but only ones he could tell were evil. Rapists, murderers and the like.
"You know what, Eddie?" Harry asked. "You're not so bad yourself."
"Move your house!" Alice exclaimed then. Harry looked at her in question. "You could move your house right? Move it, so you're our neighbour and then you can keep any kids we decide to have safe!"
"And end up being a permanent cook and babysitter? I don't think so." Harry declined. "I like my house where it is and I have just the right amount of privacy. What will you do when your kids want to make friends and go on dates and get married? Do you think you'll never want to see them again?"
"He makes a valid point." Carlisle said. "I think we'll need to think more on this. In the meanwhile, you should get some rest." Harry looked like he was going to object. "Doctor's orders I'm afraid." he insisted.
"Can he at least come see what we did with the pool room?" Alice asked.
Carlisle pretended to consider it, before nodding. "Fine." he wanted to see it anyway. Knowing Alice, she'd done something extra special.

Harry was allowed to stand up on his own, now that his headache was gone, and they took him through the house to the pool room. Harry was impressed with their work. Not only did all the windows now have curtains for privacy, but the angled roof had some form of shutter system, with railings for the wooden boards that had been used to create the shutter system.
Alice flipped a switch and the shutters started moving automatically to close, all moving from the side closest to the house. The curtains were apparently also automated and with another switch flipped, they started closing as well. As soon as everything was closed, she flipped another switch and hundreds of tiny lights appeared in the corners of the room, giving just enough illumination to make everything out.
Emmett walked to a corner, where there was now a bar, with the pool table set up in front of it, with stronger lights suspended above it. "You'll need to stock it yourself, but in the meanwhile there's some drinks for you in the mini-fridge."
"I didn't buy a mini-fridge." Harry said.
"It's from our house." Rosalie said. "We don't really need it, since it's mostly for show, for when we have guests."
"That was really nice of you." Harry said. "Thanks. This all looks amazing."
"That's not all!" Alice said excitedly, as she flipped the light switches and they were left to stand in darkness for a moment, until Harry's eyes adjusted and he saw, for the first time, a grand design in glowing patterns on the ceiling shutters. It was all curves and swirls, with patterns that melded seamlessly into each other, somehow looking like distorted stars through glass.
"Nice!" Harry exclaimed. "Did you take inspiration from Van Gogh?" he asked.
"You know your art." Carlisle said, with a smile.
"I've been to a few worlds that had him in the history books." Harry said. "You can't not pick things up with enough exposure."
"Yes and no." Rosalie said. "Alice has a real eye for details, and she did most of the detail work, but we all helped out in our own ways."
"I imagine vampire dexterity comes in handy with that." Harry noted, even as he still looked at the design. "This is beautiful. All I wanted was a bit of protection from the weather. The next time there's a party, people won't want to leave!"
"You're welcome." Alice said, smugly. She was glad they could pay him back a little for all he was doing for them. "There's still a lot we can do with the space and I'm thinking you could likely help make some impossible things possible with your skills."
"Okay, I'm thinking this is enough." Carlisle said, then. "Harry really needs his rest. He's still got patients he needs to take care of in the morning."
"We're staying." Emmett and Rosalie said. "Just in case there's trouble." Rosalie added.
"I don't think-" Harry started.
"We know you think it's not necessary, and we believe that you believe that." Rosalie interrupted.
"But look what happened last time." Emmett said. "I'd not want to risk my meal-ticket." he smirked.
"What about the term immortal do you people not understand?" Harry asked, even as he smirked at Emmett. While he was joking Harry also knew he was serious to a degree. "Fine. The guest bedroom is sound-proofed and furnished and the bed is unbreakable, so go nuts."
"And the floors and walls?" Emmett challenged.
"Yes." Harry said, easily.
"Awesome." he said, as he took Rosalie by the hand and they disappeared.
"He'll be proving that they can make a mess anyway." Alice pointed out.
"He'll be sorely disappointed when he finds out that all the damage reverts the moment the door is closed with nobody inside it." Harry chuckled then, as he walked into the house again.
The next morning, Harry awoke to the smells of food, and curiously walked out of the room. They'd made perfectly browned toast, with scrambled eggs and coffee.
"Don't look at me that way." Rosalie said. "I'm going to need to learn, if I'll be cooking for the kids one day. Back when I was turned, training to be a wife and mother was still part of the culture."
"Let me teach you a better scramble then." Harry said, as he sat down and started eating. "And how to season." he added, summoning the salt and pepper.
"I'm not going to object." Rosalie said. "If what you make for us is what it tastes like for normal people, I can learn a thing or two from you."
Emmett smirked at Harry. "Sorry about the room." he said.
Harry looked to the hall and the door closed on its own. "Looks fine to me." he said.
Emmett frowned before going to check. "No way!" he exclaimed.
"Self-repair is built into certain rooms in my house." Harry explained. "I don't like cleaning up after guests, so it does that on its own."
"That's unfair." Emmett said. "After we spent all night wrecking the place, you just close the door and it's all undone."
"Still useful to have sound-proofed rooms." Rosalie said. "We could use something like that at home."
"Right." Harry said. Vampire hearing probably meant there was no such thing as a private moment, when you were home. "I'll hook you up." he promised. "You'll need to still clean the room yourself. The magic that fixes the room is bound to the functions of this house."
"Thanks, Harry." Rosalie said. "Any chance you can do that for the others?"
"I'm thinking I'll skip Edward's room for now." Harry said. "I don't think he and Bella are ready for the next step."
"Bella's ready." Emmett smirked.
"I don't want to know that." Harry said. "Is it even possible for them?"
"It's probably a good idea for them to wait until she's been turned." Rosalie said. "Humans can be fragile."
"I get that." Harry nodded. "I have to consider that as well, sometimes, though I'm not usually as tough as you saw against James and Victoria. Had to add protections for that."
"And ripping off James's arm?" Emmett asked.
"Enhanced myself." Harry said. "Still only temporary."
"How strong can you make yourself?" Emmett asked. He really wanted to know how he'd fair against him.
"I've picked up a few tons in the past, though it takes a toll on the body after a while." Harry said. "It's meant for short bursts of power. The human body is simply not constructed for such things."
"Could you enhance other people?" Rosalie asked.
"Why?" Harry asked.
"Edward is worried that he'll hurt Bella." Emmett said.
"I could add something for that." Harry shrugged. "But if they want to get physical, I'll need to add other protections. You male vampires still produce baby batter."
"We do?" Emmett asked.
"I had to do a thorough investigation before I started experimenting." Harry said. "My equipment revealed quite a bit about your genetic code and physical limitations."
"You went that far?" Rosalie asked.
"I was looking into the possibility of reverting the change on the genetic level." Harry said. "That wouldn't work, though. The change doesn't just add something, it modifies what was there. I could likely still produce a serum that changes it back, but I don't have a mechanism to do that, which has a hundred percent success rate, as it resets some things and would end up turning every cell in your body into stem cells. Well, that and the mind issue…"
"Your, like, a science-fiction mad scientist." Emmett said.
"From your perspective… Yeah, I suppose I am." Harry allowed. He stood up then. "Thanks for breakfast. I'll be going back to my lab, to repair it, so that I can continue my research. You guys probably have school to get to."
"Give it a minute." Rosalie said. "Esme will be here by then."
"Do I need a babysitter now?" Harry asked.
"No." Rosalie said. "We realise you don't need it. We want her there for you, for our peace-of-mind."
Harry thought about that. If he could help them live normal lives, then obviously it would put their minds at ease if they had someone around to protect him from things he didn't know about in this world. "I'll allow it, but I'm not a child, so no telling me how to live my life." he warned, as Emmett walked to the door. "And I don't want a minder at all times. I want to explore a bit on my own and learn things for myself."
"That's normal." Esme said from the door, as Emmett opened it. "Hello, Harry."
"Hi Esme." Harry said. "Come on in." he said, realising she was not coming in, since he'd not given her permission. Perhaps they knew to respect his space, after all. She had been watching out for him from outside the house, last time.
"Thank you." Esme said, smiling at Harry.
"Bye Esme." Rosalie said, as she and Emmett left. "Bye Harry." she called back.
"Bye guys." Harry said.
That day was long for Harry. Fixing the doors to his lab was easy. Going through every piece of equipment was a hassle. In the end he found that everything was in perfect working order, though. Then he went to feed his test-subjects, with food he and Esme prepared.
"What's this supposed to be?" Victoria asked, with a scowl.
"Eat up, dear." Esme said. "It's made for our kind."
"Human food?" Victoria asked.
"There's a trick to it." Esme said, as she picked up a piece of shredded lettuce, from under the bars and put it in her mouth, chewing it and swallowed. "Completely immortal friendly and even gives us what we need."
"You're too nice to her." Harry said. He walked to James's cell, shoved the food under the bars and said, "Eat that, or die from starvation." Then he walked back to Esme. "See?"
"While they are prisoners for now, it won't hurt you to treat them like a civilized person." Esme said. "You do intend to let them go, after all."
"If they behave." Harry allowed. "And only once I've had time to finish my tests." He could wipe all their memories and then move their souls across, after all. It was the only safe way to make vampires human at this point. He'd be testing that last, though. Probably on James, first. If they forgot everything, it wouldn't matter how he treated them.
"What if James and I took the deal you gave Laurent?" Victoria asked.
"James isn't just a vampire. He's also a sadistic, evil person." Harry said. "Edward told me what he intended to do. Bella would have been his target, so that Edward would suffer, when he killed her."
"We're predators." Victoria said. "What's wrong with enjoying the hunt?"
"If you enjoy torturing people, you'll likely not be allowed to live, when I'm done with my tests." Harry said calmly.
"And Laurent?" Victoria asked.
"I could tell that he was not a threat. He finds the way the Cullens live to be fascinating." Harry said. He'd asked after it, and Edward had confirmed that he'd had good instincts, when he let him go. He now had both the opportunity and only the one choice open to him. Apparently he'd even gone to the Cullens to discuss with them their lifestyle, once Harry was home. He did not want to be there when Harry was there.
"So offer her the deal." Esme said. "It's not as if she could break her word, with your skills."
"Maybe once I'm done." Harry said, deciding to leave. "There's only a few more tests to go. Two, three days tops, but I'll also be going to visit the extended family tomorrow."
"Oh, right!" Esme exclaimed. "We'll have to make some food to take along." she suggested.
"Not a bad idea." Harry said. "Put the best foot forward and all that."
After that, they went back to the kitchen and started making food again. This time, Harry was making a large stew on the side, which he intended to take with for the Denali, while Esme, who had apparently been spending time reading up on recipes and food preparation started on the other meals.
By the time everything was set, with Harry remembering to add more of his power to the stew, so that it could last longer, they went outside for another drink. This time they had tea, but he also remembered that he wanted to try something, so he did it the correct way, so that he could do a reading for Esme.
Her cup showed him some fair weather coming up, much like his own had, but also something strange. "Unexpected guests?" he asked. He'd not seen that in his own cup, so it was likely centred on the Cullens. His had shown intrigue again, but that was pretty standard for him.
"We're expecting guests?" Esme asked, having heard of his ability from her children.
"It doesn't say who, but it does indicate someone arriving, or showing up." Harry said. "It could be good or bad, so be careful not to do anything that could attract the wrong kind of attention. That should tilt this forecast in your favour."
"I'll keep that in mind." Esme promised. "So it worked? You can read our futures with this as well?"
"Yes." Harry said. "It seems so." he added. While he'd heard all about Alice and her ability to see the future, he'd also heard he was exempt from her visions, actually changing things for her sight as if he was a hurricane blowing by and changing the landscape. His predictions were based off his ability, though, so it included him. Whoever was coming, likely had connections to the vampire world, or the Cullens, specifically. His own cup, showing intrigue, could include meeting new people, but it was vague enough, that he couldn't discount the possibility.
Perhaps it was time to take a hand in destiny's plans. There was one other way to read her cup. Perhaps it would be better to take the whole clan to visit the family.
"Scratch that." Harry said. "I'm taking the whole family to visit the Denali."
"What? Why?" Esme asked.
"Just trust me." Harry said. "I'm an old hand at dealing with fate. Call Carlisle. He's not coming in to work for the next three days. If he needs to make preparations, he'll appreciate the forewarning." He then got up immediately, planning on starting on something he'd meant to get to eventually.
"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Esme asked. His actions were worrying her. He seemed worried, too.
"I'm going to work on the Chevy." Harry said. "We'll need more room to fit you all."
That evening, Jessica paid him a visit. He'd kept his promise, though, and told her that he was taking a break, so that the rumours would die down. He even mentioned that Charlie had stopped by to request it. Jessica wasn't happy, but she didn't want to cause problems for Harry, so she said she understood and she and Harry enjoyed a bit of a visit. He even showed her the new pool room. She still flirted heavily and he joined in, but he didn't let it go further than the kiss on the cheek he gave her when she left.
The next day found Harry driving to the Cullen house to pick up his passengers. He stayed on the ground and saw a few envious looks at his purring Chevy, which made him smile and rev the engine a bit. By the time he arrived at the Cullen house, he was wearing a large smile.
"You ready for a trip?" he asked the vampires as they met him outside, having heard his car coming.
"Do you think we'll all fit?" Carlisle asked. In response, Harry popped the trunk. "I'm not getting in the trunk." he said, flatly.
Harry smirked. "It's meant for any luggage, and maybe Emmett." he said.
"Hey!" Emmett objected, even as Esme placed a bag in the trunk. When the others started placing their things in the trunk, they noticed that there seemed to be space left, no matter how much they packed. Trying for funny, Emmett actually climbed in the trunk, which fit him easily, and the trunk closed on him almost instantly. "Open the trunk or I'm getting out through the back seat!" Emmett yelled. Harry could hear the smile on his face, though. The trunk popped open again and Emmett was instantly out.
"Who gets front seat first?" Harry asked.
"I beat them to it." Carlisle said, as he opened the door for Esme. "So I gave it to my lovely wife."
"Wise man." Harry said. "The rest of you, get in the back." he said.
Carlisle shrugged and climbed in, followed by Edward, then Jasper, Alice, Rosalie and finally Emmett. They all sat comfortably and not even touching each other.
"It's like the trunk?" Esme asked.
"It's like the trunk." Harry confirmed, as he started the engine and protected the car from view, before instantly starting to rise.
"You've changed it?" Rosalie asked.
"I finished it." Harry corrected.
"His bike can do this too." Alice confirmed.
"And nobody will see us?" Jasper asked.
"Protected from view." Harry said, as he started accelerating.
"Could you do this with people?" Edward asked.
"I'm not making it so you can watch Bella in the shower, you pervert!" Harry said.
"I'll have you know I can be a perfect gentleman." Edward said.
"Yeah, and he's probably already snuck a peak." Emmett laughed. "Then again, from the smell of her, all he needs to do is ask."
"Emmett." Esme said in warning.
Emmett rolled his eyes, but said, "Okay."
"To answer your question, yes I could do this with people." Harry said. "It's not something I need. I tend to just make people ignore me. It works much better, because that way I don't shock people when I reappear and I don't need to worry about when it expires."
"That's what you do in the cafeteria." Alice said in realisation.
"I hate being stared at while I eat." Harry confirmed.
They drove for a bit, before Esme asked, "What's going on with your guests?"
"They're still back home." Harry said.
"Aren't you worried that something might happen while you are away?" she asked.
"Besides the security on their cells and the fact that thieves will overlook my house, I've got security cameras hidden all over the place." Harry said.
"Wait!" Rosalie objected. "Even in your lab?" she asked.
"Oh, yeah." Harry agreed, with a smirk back at the passengers. He hadn't checked the footage of them cleaning the lab in the nude, to protect from contamination, but he could keep that to himself for a bit. He'd realised that they had mentioned it to gauge his reaction, back when they told him. "From all kinds of angles." he added.
"Harry, if I find out you've been watching my wife in the nude, we may not stay friends." Emmett warned, seriously. Harry had not seen that side of him.
"Don't worry, Emmet, I've not looked at the footage." Harry said. "Tempting though it may be, I'm not a pervert like Eddie." That brought a bit of a smile to Emmett's face.
"Could you delete the footage?" Rosalie asked, just a bit self-conscious at the moment.
"If I told you I went looking for the recording to find it, and delete it, would you not rather worry that I'd have to see it to find it?" Harry asked.
"Good point." Rosalie said.
"So, we're just supposed to trust that you won't in the future?" Edward asked.
"Yes." Carlisle said emphatically. "We are."
Rosalie smiled at Harry at that. "I trust you." she said.
"I'm not saying I don't." Edward said. "It's just… he did mention that he likes what you look like. That he finds you attractive, even."
"That's because it's true." Harry said. "She's f-ing gorgeous!"
"Yes, she is." Emmett agreed instantly.
"And Alice is also one of the most beautiful people I've ever met. Inside and out." Harry added. "That doesn't mean I will be acting like a pervert, just because I know I can. I mean, if I wanted to, I could see anyone naked. All it would take is a bit of power. You wouldn't even know it."
"You've got x-ray vision?" Emmett asked, with wonder written on his face. Rosalie slapped his arm, indignantly.
"If I want to, I can." Harry agreed. "It was dead useful, back when I was a surgeon."
"You were a surgeon?" Carlisle asked. This was the first he'd heard of it.
"It was quite a while back, but yes." Harry agreed. "You'd be surprised how useful such a skill is to avoid arteries and to find bone fragments and stuff."
"I can imagine." Carlisle said. "You never stop impressing us." he stated.
"Hopefully that never stops." Esme said, fondly.
"I'll try not to disappoint." Harry said. "Oh, by the way, I wasn't talking about x-ray vision. That sees through skin and stuff too."
"What did you mean?" Alice asked.
"I can scan someone and produce a realistic image of them, doing whatever I want." Harry said. "As I understand it, it was a spell designed for tailors, actually. People could imagine clothing and then make their models walk around and see a realistic representation. It also helped in the design phase, so that modifications could be made before the patterns were copied and produced."
Harry focussed on the car for a moment, switching on the 'autopilot', which just kept them at their current speed, direction and altitude, and then the back of his seat vanished as he turned around to face them. "Let me demonstrate." he said. He focussed for a moment and scanned Edward, then he held out his hand and an image of Edward appeared above it, wearing his current clothes.
The image stood there for a moment, before he suddenly started strutting, walking in place. Then he threw his one hand up and pointed at the ceiling before his foot started tapping. The others laughed happily as they enjoyed Edward's headshake. He was smiling slightly, though, so he was taking the joke as it was meant.
Then the clothes he was wearing changed to something else. And then again. Soon it was cycling through different styles and cuts Harry had seen him wear since he met him. Stopping on what he was wearing currently again, the image of Edward disappeared, leaving only the clothes, which disassembled and floated above Harry's hand, showing the exact cut of every piece of fabric, including the underwear.
"This… is.. AMAZING!" Alice exclaimed. "You could design anything or copy anything and get the pattern to then produce it!"
"Unfortunately I've never been good at that kind of thing." Harry said apologetically. "With everything I've seen come and go through my life, fashion has never been something I cared too much about." He sat back and his clothes changed into a copy of what Carlisle was wearing. "With my abilities, I just stay up to date by changing what I have."
"Lucky." Alice complained, as Harry changed his clothes back. She rallied quickly, though. "But I could still tell you what to change in that image and then you can get me the patterns, right?"
Jasper was shaking his head emphatically behind Alice's back, as she sat forward in interest. Harry sighed, though. "If you want my help with something like that, you'll need to book time. I'm not your infinite model, or fashion advisor, or whatever."
"Oh, I'm sure I could find the proper motivation." Alice said confidently, smiling at him.
"We can discuss it at a later date." Harry said, turning around and making his seat whole again. "I've yet to get us up to speed."
"We're already going so fast, though?" Esme asked. She'd been keeping an eye out, since Harry turned around, not knowing how to react, but trusting him to know what he was doing.
"We're still too low." Harry said. "As we go higher, please refrain from opening your windows. The air will be a little thin up where we are going."
The car started gaining altitude, and as the air thinned, they sped up, going higher faster. They didn't stop going up, until the sky started darkening noticeably. "That's it for the height and speed. Unfortunately I don't have a power to tell us our actual speed, but we're going very fast."
Edward was looking down through the window. "If we look at the distances on a map and see how long it takes us to cover the ground, we should be able to calculate that quite easily." he said.
"Can you pinpoint exactly where we are?" Harry asked, curiously.
"No." Edward agreed. "On the other hand, once we get there, we'll be able to calculate our average speed at least."
"Good enough for me." Harry said. He'd like to know.
The trip didn't take long at all and pretty soon, they were flying lower, so that they could use landmarks to find the house.
When they were close enough, Harry switched off the music he'd been playing and landed the car, so that they could arrive normally.
When they arrived, there were six people waiting for them.
