MISSION COMPLETED

Ellie was in disbelief. It couldn't have happened. Shouldn't have happened. She never entered the house but watched through the windows as the brawl unfolded. It was brutal and harsh. She'd watched the people she had grown up knowing and trusting, the people who had always looked out for her, fighting for their lives against the ones who opposed them. It was horrifying to watch. But the part that shocked her the most was finding out that Danny had transformed himself from a loving person to cold, hard and mean. She had been thrilled to see Danny, half-way through the deadly battle, have a change of heart. That kind of change was incredibly rare in today's world, and to see her own brother make a final decision when fighting Jacob to instead fight alongside, it was incredible. Then, it happened. The top floor window smashed, and Ellie had stepped back to watch.

The killer stood with his back to her, but then Jacob tackled the killer and Rachael out the window. He had caught the frame and held onto Rachael, yet the killer had also managed to grip onto Jacob's leg. It was both an impressive and terrifying sight. Then, the others helped Rachael up to safety…and Jacob had pushed off from the wall. In slow-motion, the killer twisted the two of them through the air, and then they hit the grass. Landing back-first with a weight on top of him, Ellie immediately knew there was no hope. Jacob would have had to have been lucky as fuck to survive a fall like that, but even if he did survive, he would never be able to walk again. No matter what, he would have been taken out the fight for good. Luck wasn't on his side, that was why he was dead, and Ellie was forced to watch.

Unlike the others, a beam of light had split down from the sky, only visible to Ellie, and taken his spirit away quickly. She had never had time to speak to him or say thank you or anything. He was just…gone. Like a leaf n the wind. Gone. Ellie felt like throwing up. She wanted to throw up. But the feeling never rose to the extreme. She doubled over and breathed hard, trying to calm herself down as the others ran out onto the grass to observe the body. Ellie turned and ran just as the ambulances and police showed up. She hurried down the street, ignoring Luke's body as she did, which was still hanging from a tree but now surrounded by both paramedics and officers. She needed to find the others, but she didn't know where exactly they were. They had run off to find the third, like Ellie had told them to, but now she wanted more than anything for them to return.

She hurried through the streets, keeping her head down and eyes on the ground as she walked, watching her own shoes slap harmlessly against the pavement. The streetlights flickered ahead, the air stale and cold, but Ellie didn't mind. It wasn't like she could hurry home and crawl into bed. She didn't have a home anymore, or a bed, or anything. She was alone, only companied by the others, and even they had left to complete the mission. A sobbing sound made Ellie freeze in her place. She waited, and the sound came again, louder and more distressed than before. Ellie looked around, confused. The sound wasn't muffled by the walls of a house. It sounded quite close, actually. Why is someone crying outside? Ellie thought to herself. She slowly approached the sound, making sure to keep checking warily over her shoulder in case the others were returning.

Ellie found herself in a quiet park, the swings creaking back and forth in a gentle breeze. Someone was sitting on a bench just on the edge of the small playground, curled up into a ball on the metal seat and sobbing. Ellie felt a pang of sadness and guilt wash through her as she stared, watching the person. A girl, Ellie realised, her eyes widening. She knew that Jasper was the one the others were going to find, but there was one more. A girl called Leila. One who had remained hidden and mysterious while they searched. Could it be? Ellie started forward, staring at the girl as she slowly approached. The girl didn't hear the crunching footsteps as Ellie came close and jumped when Ellie sat next to her. The girl turned; eyes wide as Ellie smiled at her. "You…can see me?" the girl whispered, and Ellie nodded, the smile never leaving her face.

"I'm guessing you haven't met another spirit before, huh?" Ellie asked, and the girl shook her head quickly. "No…not since I died," the girl responded quietly, gazing at Ellie curiously. "Well, my name's Ellie. What's yours?" The girl stuttered for a few moments, took a deep breath as though to correct herself and then mumbled, "Leila." Ellie's eyes widened, and a confused expression came onto Leila's face. "What is it?" she asked politely, and Ellie chuckled, a sense of relief passing over her. "Leila…I've been looking for you for some time now," Ellie whispered, and Leila's face lit up. "Really?" she asked, both confused and excited, and Ellie laughed aloud. "Yes! Me and some other spirits, we've been trying to gather everyone else who was murdered by the killer. They went off to find someone else…but I finally found you on my own!"

Leila laughed a little as well, but then indicated to the now-distant mansion. "I've been hanging around there for a while. I had a Family there. People cared about me, but then I was murdered…I've been hoping they might see me. But no, they never have." Ellie looked down, her face become grave and depressed as Leila stared. "What? Did something happen?" Leila whispered, and Ellie softly nodded, tears already forming in the corners of her eyes. "There was…an attack," she mumbled, and Leila's eyes went wide, her mouth falling open. "What? When? Where?" she questioned, panic setting in as Ellie reached forwards and held her shoulders to keep her calm. "Breathe. Calm down first," Ellie advised, and Leila nodded, breathing hard and trying to calm herself down. Ellie waited until she was sure Leila's anxiety had subsided, and then continued.

"A group of people…were waiting for the Family when they returned. Like Rachael's ex-girlfriend was one I believe, I'm not sure. That's what I gathered, anyway. A fight broke out. The Family won, don't worry, but then the killer showed up. He's after Rachael, trying to capture her for reasons we still don't know. She's alright now," Ellie added, but the fear did not leave Leila's eyes. "The killer…he is insane…he wouldn't leave willingly. What happened?" she growled the last words angrily, and Ellie was taken aback for several moments before looking down and whispering, "Jacob saved Rachael's life…by sacrificing his own." Leila gasped and covered her mouth, shocked as Ellie looked away. It wasn't something she ever wanted to say again. She had liked Jacob. Not as much as some of the others, but still, he had always been nice.

"Was he murdered by him?" Leila asked hurriedly, and Ellie nodded in confirmation. Leila looked down with tears in her eyes, wiping them away hurriedly while Ellie averted her eyes. She always felt it was private when people cried, which was why she looked away. "I'm ok," Leila mumbled, and Ellie looked back up at her. "So, what do we do now?" asked Leila, and Ellie let another small smile onto her face. Voices came from behind, and Ellie turned. They were here. Luke, Thomas, Eddie and Jasper. They hurried over to Ellie and Leila. "Guys, I found Leila as well. The mission is complete," Ellie explained, and the others cheered. Finally, it was done. Ellie turned back to Leila, grinning from ear-to-ear, and Leila cocked an eyebrow. "If you guys have been trying to unite us all…what do we do?" she asked, and Ellie grinned even harder. "I have an idea on how we can end this!" she replied excitedly.
