Wu Xue didn't return to his residence until the sun began to dawn the next day, he had so much fun that night that he was glad he accepted the invitation.
Yor, particularly, was the first person he met who had a heart similar to his. Despite his old age, he had no qualms about his prestige and didn't care about what others thought about him. He acted and spoke what was in his heart.
Yor's status instantly rose to several leaders in Wu Xue's heart and he became a bosom friend. They continued drinking in the streets after the end of the meeting and made a lot of trouble in the streets while drunk.
"Well, I should help him later," Wu Xue muttered while taking a bath, he used his Yuan Qi to cleanse the alcohol in his body and return his mind to pure sanity.
An interesting fact about mages of that world was that they had incredibly weak physiques compared to cultivators. Even those at the Seventh Star had physiques as weak as that of an ordinary person.
Only those at the Eighth Star and beyond begin to experience deep bodies strengthening and refining through the aura.
Therefore when drinking, mages can be very vulnerable and unable to quickly cleanse away their drunkness in case of danger.
The fact Yor drank to his heart's content even after there was only him and Wu Xue showed he had some trust in him.
"Even at home, there was no one as fun as him," Wu Xue muttered with a smile, "I hope I get to meet more people like him."
Unfortunately for him, not many people were as eccentric as him and Yor. And a great part of those who were eccentric were also evil.
After wearing another set of clean clothes, he prepared a breakfast and began to plan his next classes and steps. He began to write an agenda to "help."
With his almost photographic memory, he didn't really need to write it, but he chose to do so nonetheless, to feel a bit more what it meant to be an ordinary person.
When he ended up writing everything he had planned and his responsibilities as a professor, he also separated some time to teach Jasmine.
As for why he was willing to give private lessons to that girl, he thought it would be a way for him to gain a free test subject, a talented one.
He left his residence and went to work, that would be his routine for a while.
The scene from the day before happened again, and many students were shocked by his teachings and novel knowledge.
When he gave his last lesson at 1E Class, he sent a voice transmission to Jasmine, "Every time I end my lesson at this class, follow me to the experimental boundary, I will be teaching you there."
Jasmine wasn't shocked by the voice sounding directly in her mind and just nodded.
Rudd seemed reluctant but in the end, didn't go after Wu Xue, he had other urgent things to attend to.
The experimental boundary was a place where students practiced their magic and sometimes were taught by instructors and professors. It was a large space protected by advanced magic spells and covered by a magic barrier strong enough to guarantee nothing cast inside ever goes outside.
It was divided into many spaces for different purposes. Wu Xue used his authority as a professor to assign one of those spaces for his use.
Jasmine was acting as indifferent as before, but she wore practical clothing instead of the usual academy uniform.
"You are clever," Wu Xue praised her quick wits, "Let's start with a fun fact."
"Fun fact...?" Jasmine tilted her head in confusion.
"You are not an ordinary human," Wu Xue grinned, "What kind of branch race are you?"
Jasmine's expression changed and she looked at him in shock.
"Was it supposed to be a secret?" Wu Xue chuckled, "This tool you are using is unable to trick my eyes."
"What do you want?" Jasmine's expression turned ugly, she knew she was simply unable to escape from the situation.
"If I'm going to teach you something in advance, you must pay a price... I'm not your master to do this for free," Wu Xue shugged and elaborated, "The fact is, I need someone to collaborate with me in an experiment."
Jasmine's expression darkened and she threatened, "You better forget about it, do you not fear my family?"
"Don't misunderstand, this experiment is not prejudicial or dangerous," Wu Xue waved his hand, "But I really need someone's help, and someone with your innate talent is more than welcome."
"You..." Jasmine was shocked, "How did you?"
"For other mages in this Dominion, it might be impossible to see it, but I..." Wu Xue smiled mysteriously with narrowed eyes, "I'm not like others. I can sense your innate affinity to time.
"And not only that, I can also feel the life signature of your hidden bloodline, it is not of an ordinary human lineage."
"Are you really in the first Dominion?" Jasmine asked with uncertainty, "How is it possible?"
"The vast world is vast, but is not everything," Wu Xue smiled.
Jasmine's expression changed again, "What do you mean by those words?"
"Judging by your reaction, you must come from a rather developed place," Wu Xue held his chin with a hand, "Not many people, if any, here know that the seemingly infinite Vast World is just one of the many worlds."
"Are you from the same place I came?" Jasmine asked with a complex expression, "Did someone send you after me?"
"Don't think too much," Wu Xue laughed dumbly, "I'm not even from this world, to begin with, why would I plot against you?"
"You are an outsider!?" Jasmine's face showed fear, "What do you want?"
"I see no reason for me to explain it to you," Wu Xue grinned, showing a row of white teeth, "But you can be assured that right now I'm just a professor at this academy, and one to actually teach you precious knowledge in advance compared to your colleagues."
"Why would you be such a gentleman?" Jasmine asked with an alert expression, "We don't know each other."
"That's a fun question," Wu Xue laughed, "You probably didn't ask this to yourself when you went to my residence yesterday."
Jasmine was silent.
"Are you willing to learn?" Wu Xue asked and approached her, "I'm willing to teach.
"But everything has a price.
"And the price for this deal is that you help me with my experiment."
After a long silence, Jasmine asked, "How strong can it turn me?"
"Strenght... huh?" Wu Xue's eyes showed a rare depth and blank, "I'm not particularly interested in your past, but... If you learn everything I teach you, you might get what you want, the strength to control your life."
"I don't trust you very much with your promises," Jasmine began to return to her usual indifferent state, "But I have no choice but to grasp any opportunity presented to me, no matter how small it is."
Wu Xue smiled and patted her shoulder lightly, "You won't repent your choice.
"And if I end up appreciating you, I might teach you unimaginable knowledge.
"But that will depend on your performance."
Wu Xue didn't notice the weirdness on Jasmine's face and gave his back to her, "Let's start today's lesson."
He suddenly urged his literary power and it began to surround his body like a raging aura, it was black-and-white and seemed like two different inks twisted together but not mixing completely.
"What do you feel?" Wu Xue asked.
"What... is it?" Jasmine felt a huge constriction, "It is not the same aura we mages from the Magic Star Dominion use. Are you from the next Dominion?"
"No," Wu Xue shook his head, "I'm not a mage to begin with."
Jasmine's expression changed, "Because you are a foreigner."
"Well, I'm still wondering if it is a good idea to begin another path, I already have four..." Wu Xue muttered in a low voice.
"What?"
"Doesn't matter for you," Wu Xue shook his head, "What you must understand is that I will be teaching you this method of power."
"A foreign method..." Jasmine was absent-minded, still processing what she just heard.
"It is called literary path out there, or Will Refining Path," Wu Xue began to explain, "It is a way to harness power from the world by understanding and resonating with it."
He then looked at Jasmine, "Doesn't it sound a bit like magic?
"But the difference is that literary power is something I produced and is an energy that is completely owned by me," Wu Xue continued, "The magic aura you mages use is just the same natural aura of the world, but because this world has different laws you guys can use it to cast magic."
"There's no magic in your world?" Jasmine was surprised.
"No," Wu Xue shook his head, "Out of this world, the mainstream practice method is to refine the natural aura and cultivate Qi. Of course, it is possible to refine it into other kinds of energy.
"But the main point is that the refined energy carries the refiner's will and can't be controlled by others."
He then pointed to the ground and said, "Rise."
His literary power stirred and a statue of two people ascended from the ground in a blink, those two people had magic circles above their hands, and one of them was just like Jasmine.
"That's..." Jasmine's eyes widened.
"The reason I was able to control your and your colleague's magic circles was that mages, at least in this Dominion, don't own the energy they use to cast magic, they simply borrow it from the world."
"But how?" Jasmine asked.
"A characteristic of the literary power... I mean, MY literary power, is that I can use it to directly reflect in the real world what is in my mind.
"I bring to the real world an IMITATION of the world in my mind."
Jasmine opened her mouth wide and couldn't hold her indifference, "How is such a thing possible?"
"The goal of my experiment is to see if a mage can practice the literary path without problems..." Wu Xue then explained his objectives, "I think it's more likely to be possible than the contrary, but I don't want to risk it myself."
"You said there was no danger..." Jasmine twitched the corners of her mouth.
"You don't need to worry, I can absolutely protect your life in case of any problem," Wu Xue comforted her with a smile.
"But then why don't you do it yourself?"
"Because I'm too powerful to control any side-effect coming out of myself," Wu Xue explained, "If my energy riots, I will probably explode. But if your energy riots, I can forcefully calm it down."
Jasmine was still skeptical but she already agreed to it. Moreover, it was the first time she saw hope for reaching her goals.
"Literary power..." Jasmine muttered and then asked, "But why me? Isn't there any other better option for you?"
"Maybe?" Wu Xue tilted his head, "But you got good luck, I'm particularly fond of people who act as their heart wishes.
"You didn't hesitate to ask me for knowledge, even knowing it was improbable. I just decided to choose you on a whim."
"Just because of that?" Jasmine was shocked.
Wu Xue giggled and said, "Let's just stop wasting more time and begin to lesson, okay?
"If you don't want to tell me your human lineage, that's also fine by me. I was just curious."
Jasmine was silent for a moment but then said, "I'm from the elven race."
"The same race the founder of the empire is said to be a descendant of?" Wu Xue was surprised.
"Yes," Jasmine nodded with reluctance in her eyes, "Please don't tell this to other people."
Wu Xue smiled like a villain and said, "Too late, I finally got you to confess!"
Jasmine looked at him indifferently.
"Not scared? Well, you have some mind," Wu Xue changed and feigned it never happened, "Let's start with how to start your literary path, the literary heart formation and condensation."
