Millen pulled up her sleeve, scratching the little dots that had formed there under the shot period of time she hid under the schools staircase and watched her boyfriend talk to a brunette in skinny jeans and a crop top.
It always itched her when she was nervous. And right now, as she stood a few feet away, watching as her boyfriend slid his arm around the brunettes waist and pulled the girl closer to him, saying she was nervous would be an understatement.
Millen didn't know what to do. She felt like she was paralyzed. She had just come back from her usual spot where she ate food alone, void of any human being whosoever, and had seen her boyfriend laughing so casually with some random girl.
Millen was sure she knew the mystery girl from somewhere. Light, brown eyes shimmering with sunshine and happiness. Tiny waist and wide hips with long brown hair that stretched all the way to her waist. She cursed once more as she stared at the girl.
Now, she was feeling a bit envious.
Millen looked nothing like her, with her blonde hair and her completely different fashion sense. Millen's gaze drifted back to little Miss pretty's hand on her boyfriend's shoulder.
She then knew where she recognized miss pretty from. She was a new student who got a large room in the Girls dorm all to herself, and then something clicked in Millen's eyes. Her boyfriend was probably just trying to show Miss pretty around.
Yes, definitely,— Millen thought to herself— Nevermind that they were way too close for comfort, almost as if they were slowly inching towards each other. Dave was probably just trying to be nice, like she always told him to be.
With newly found confidence, Millen took quite soft steps towards them. She reached them, finally and tapped on Dave's —her boyfriend— shoulder.
Dave visibly hesitated, before pulling his hand off the brunette's waist and towards Millen. Millen smiled at him. Dave didn't want to smile, anyone who wasn't blinded from their affections for him could see that. But as, Millen's smile didn't seem to waver, Dave forced a Tiny, almost non-existent smile her way and asked;
"What?"
Millen's smile brightened, "I thought I could come help you give the new girl a tour."
Dave scrunched up his eyebrows. "A tour— New girl—?" He looked back at the Miss pretty who had finally pulled her hand off his shoulder. Not willing, though. "I wasn't giving her a tour."
He looked unmistakably bored at Millen's lack of understanding.
Now, Millen was confused and she didn't know what else to think or say. She opened her mouth to try to make out a sentence when Dave caught her off.
"Look, um, Millen," He said, annoyed, glancing between Millen and the brunette. It seemed Millen had interrupted something and was causing further damage. "I'm busy right now, so I'll see you some other time, okay?"
And without waiting for her reply, he pulled the brunette away and they walked off.
Millen looked after them, trying and failing not to notice that as they worked away, Dave's hand slipped back into Little Miss pretty's own. Her eyes started to water at the rudeness that clung to his voice as he spoke those words and held her in that way.
What had she done wrong?
Turning away, she decided to head back to her dorm room where she stayed alone, though not because she was lucky enough to snag one and have her privacy, but simply because no one really wanted to sleep in the same room as her, and thus complained until they were switched to another.
Pushing those thoughts to the farthest of her mind where they would hopefully be forgotten, she hurried off.

Things were getting out of hand. Millen was confused and angered and felt pain Everytime her blue eyes landed on Dave. It was like he had forgotten about her. It hurt like hell.
Most times, their eyes would connect, but then he would quickly look away. And sometimes, he would just plainly ignore her.
She missed him so badly. But she didn't know what to do. Was it really what she thought it was? Nowadays, she spotted Dave hitting on any girl, and she would try to walk towards him, but as soon as he caught sight of her, he would walk away.
She knew she was an outcast. But how could she be an outcast in her own relationship? To her own boyfriend?
One day, she decided enough was enough. She would confront him and make sure she knew why she was being ghosted.
Finally, she stood in the cafeteria doorway contemplating on how she would walk up to Dave's table. She didn't have any class at all with Dave which meant she couldn't talk with him then, so this was the next best option.
She took a deep breath.
One step at a time.
Dragging her feet across the cafeteria table whilst dodging some students carrying food, Millen came to a stop just behind Dave and tapped on his shoulder.
Dave ignored it.
Millen knew he had felt it but decided to ignore, so she tapped again.
He finally turned around and his whole table went silent as they scrutinized Millen.
Her throat went dry, but she forced out a word. "Hey." She gave a weak wave.
He stared at her, blankly. "What do you want?"
"I—uh...I just...wanted to talk."
Some of his friends Snickered and others muttered rude comments. She ignored them.
"Why?" He asked.
She looked at the table and the people who sat at it. They all looked a bit more interested in the conversation that they should've been, considering it had nothing to do with them. Or did it? They were his friends after all. Who knew if they caused it?
Millen was so blinded by her affections for Dave that she couldn't even connect the dots and see that she was about to step into a trap. A huge one.
Her left arm started to itch, an indication that her nervousness was rising by the second. She ignored it, still politely asking, "Can we at least go somewhere private?"
"No," Dave didn't miss a beat. He looked around at his table and slid his arm over some other girl's waist who was looking at Millen with disgust. It wasn't even the brunette from before. "If you've got anything to say, say it in front of them."
Ignoring the sting of pain that shot through her body, Millen took one last glance at the group then nodded.
She explained everything. She poured her heart out towards him and held tears that threatened to spill over. She just thought everything was fine between them, but the mood swings, everything it was different. She thought they had something and she is just not fine at all with relying on hope that he would pull up a chair and sit next to her.
Which he never did, but seemed so comfortable with sitting really close to other girls. She wanted to be sure that what they had was real and not some bet like rumors said it was.
All these she wished he understood. But instead of getting a heart felt comment or atleast an apology for ghosting her, all he did was laugh. All they did was laugh.
It surprised her at first. Then, slowly, shock transformed into pure embarrassment.
They laughed and laughed and laughed.
She looked at them, her eyes turning red and her hands folding into fists. By now, everyone in the cafeteria was staring at her, slowly joining into the laughter and whispering between themselves. They had definitely heard her.
They laughed some more and someone even threw a donut at her in the process of it. What was so funny?
Dave's voice sliced through her thoughts like a sharp knife. He pointed at her while trying badly to stifle laughter. "Wait, so let me get this straight, You...you thought I had feelings for you? You of all people?"
She said nothing.
"Listen, and listen well, I feel nothing for you. You irritate me whenever you smile and that ugly looking thing you call a face scares the freak out of everyone in this school. Do us all a favor and put a face mask on every once in a while, okay?"
Everyone burst out laughing again.
He was making fun of her? Right now, Infront of all these people?
She wanted to die. At that very moment she just wanted to be sucked into a hole and dissapear. He had told her several times that she was pretty. Why was he doing this?
She wanted to run, hide, scream...but she just stood there, sobbing like crazy. Tears ran down her cheeks in waves and stained the pristine white tiles.
She just stood there and took in all the insults.
"Man, I don't know what's worst, her crying or her smiling. Oh wait no, either would still shatter a mirror from affar."
"What a hoe. Throwing her desperate self at Dave like that."
"Why is she even still here? Just looking at her makes me loose my appetite."
"Is she stupid? Can't she tell her presence and existence is so unwanted? Ha! Dave's choice in girls, though. Hilarious!"
Dave turned around at the last comment and looked me straight in the eye. "You think I like girls who look like that? I would rather mop the flour with my tongue than kiss her. Gross."
That was the last one Millen was taking. She turned around and was just about to leave, when that brunette girl appeared out of no where.
Before Millen could think or say anything, The brunette took her lunch and dumped it on Millen.
Millen froze. She stood unmoving, feeling the grease from the schools hamburger slide down her plaid shirt.
"That's for thinking you could hit on my boyfriend and get away with it." The brunette smirked, feeling a sense of disgusting pride.
Dave laughed at that and handed her a smoothie. The brunettes smirk widened.
"Don't forget your smoothie, hunny." She opened the cover of the smoothie bootle and dumped it all over Millen all over again.
Everyone froze this time.
That's because Millen wasn't crying anymore, she just stared at the both of them. Pure, raw hate cursing through her veins.
Before anyone could blink, Millen had walked over to Dave, slapped him across the face and had ran out of the cafeteria, muttering these last few words;
"You'll regret this, Dave. I promise you, I'll be back."
Behind her, a chorus of cheers and laughter erupted as they celebrated that finally, she would leave the school for good. Or so they thought.
