Inspect Skill

Roan was done with analysing his new teammates. He began thinking of getting to a safe place and check out his new skill.

Morris sensed no danger in the plateau. He led the team in the plateau searching for a cave or hiding spot.

Roan and others followed him. He already sent Roan a request to join the team. Roan accepted the request and joined the team.

The team was named Four and already had two intermediate tier beast crystals.

He looked over other teams scores and found the maximum number of beast crystal has risen up to 6.

Morris was walking, searching for a good place but did not find it yet. Roan grew bored following the team.

He opened his system out of boredom. He looked at his skill tab and read the details of Inspect skill again.

There was limit to its uses, he only used it twice and his head started aching. He wanted to know the stat which affected the inspect skill.

He looked around and used his inspect skill on Morris again. The skill worked and showed the same stat as before.

"Have I recovered already?" he used the inspect skill twice and that was his limit. It was not even an hour yet, just a little more than 30 minutes and he could already use it.

He used inspect this time on Lucas. His skill worked and showed a new window of Lucas.

This time he did not feel any headache, he did not care for Lucas's stats but still looked at it gauging his strength.

He used his skill again but this time on the blonde girl. He glanced at her and used Inspect quickly.

His head started to ache, he tried using the skill again after a minute but the headache again started.

He did not try again, the pain was not very much but it felt weird to look at a girl and start acting hurt.

It was good enough that he knew he could use inspect two times in a row.

The team was still going forward, searching for a spot.

The plateau was full of greenery, it did not have dense trees like forest but it was maintained like a garden.

The plateau was four times a football ground. Earlier it took a lot of time for him to just check out the place with wind path.

But now the team was actually walking slowly searching for a resting spot. It did not seem like they would be getting rest anytime soon.

He was looking around, there were many trees and some low level bugs and creatures near them.

He noticed a beetle like bug on the tree. He could easily see a bug from hundred meters.

The bug was black and red in color with a turtle like back. He tried to experiment and used Inspect on the bug.

Luckily this time he did not suffer from headache. A window appeared showing the result of inspect

"Agility of 12? doesn't that mean with it's size even some intermediate tier wouldn't be able to catch it" he never checked the strength of basic tiers.

This was the first time he got to hunt the beasts but hunting basic tier could not help him. Hence, He never tried to observe a basic tier beast.

He stopped thinking of the beetle and used inspect on Jennie.

Again a sharp pain came into his head. It felt as if someone smacked his head with reinforced steel.

He groaned in low voice but next second he was able to contain his groaning, others did not notice him.

He found another bug nearby but the pain to his head made him think again. He did not want to suffer pain but he knew that only by doing certain actions the system would unlock new features.

He steeled his resolve and used the inspect on the new bug he found. The bug was in front of him, only 50 meters away.

It was crawling on a stone, its needle like mouth was stuck in the rock. The bug looked a little like mosquito.

The shape of the insect or bug was like mosquito but its color was purple with black thin legs and mouth.

He was getting close to it and would soon cross it, he used the inspect on the creature hoping for good results and no pain.

A window appeared and information about the creature came up. Seeing the results made him smile.

He quickly understood that the creatures which are overall more powerful cannot be scanned a lot of times.

But low level creatures could be scanned more than that of high or similar level creatures.

He was still a little unsure of of his theory so he searched for another creature nearby.

There was bird nest on a tree left to him. He quickly checked the nest from where he was and found a bird and some eggs inside it.

"If I am not able to inspect the girl and the skill still works on the bird it means that the skill has limitations and cannot be excessively used on high level creatures" he used inspect on Jennie again and his head felt electrocuted.

A warning message showed up in dark red but he was in so much pain that he could not even walk straight.

He fell down on the ground holding his head. His eyes and mouth bled and terrible pain accompanied the blood.

Morris and other saw him suddenly fall down while holding his head. They felt scared and thought some beast attacked.

"What happened ? did some beast attack you?" Morris asked worriedly. He was looking around checking for any beast around them.

Other members of team also looked around ready with their guns and knife. Lucas used a beast armament gloves on his left palm.

Jennie and Jasper distanced themselves from Roan and was warily looking around.

After ten seconds the pain in his head returned to a normal headache. He wiped of blood from his mouth and eyes and stood up.

Morris and others fell back, wary of him. They prepared their weapons ready to attack the second Roan moved.

"Is it a psychic type beast that can control other creatures?" Jasper asked.

"No, a psychic type beast won't be able to control someone this quickly. It must be an attack of some beast" Lucas replied.

Morris was about to say something when Roan started speaking "It is not any beast attack, it was just that the beast I hunted earlier was poisonous."

Morris and others felt some relief then asked him " Are you fine ? Do you need any help?"

They still did not fully trust him and were still a distance away from him.

He removed his hands from his head and said " It is fine, it was only a basic tier beast. I already forced out the poison mixed in my blood"

Seeing the traces of blood on his sleeves and face, others relaxed. They now had a little understanding of situation.

'A basic tier poison ability beast is not that deadly, it seems fine' Morris thought.

He nodded at his other teammates who were looking at him expectantly. Others seeing him nod let go of their weapons.

Morris asked him about the details of the beast he was poisoned from. He gave him some false details from the information he knew and made up a story.

Morris seem convinced of the story. He asked if Roan wanted to rest but Roan rejected the offer.

He knew Morris was just being polite and even if he wanted to rest there was no safe place. They were searching for a place to rest.

It was already dark and wasting time to rest here was similar to inviting trouble.

Morris nodded appreciating Roan's thoughtfulness and started walking again.

Roan felt relieved when the interrogation from his teammates were over.

He walked comfortably for a minute to show others that he was fine. When all his teammates became busy not caring for him anymore then he walked at his comfortable pace.

His head was still aching but this much of pain was sustainable. He could walk normally without anyone noticing.

The pain from his head was decreasing and no more affected him that seriously.

He looked at the surrounding and found that the tree with nest was left behind. He could not go back to use inspect on the bird.

It was more correct to say that he did not dare to use inspect more than twice.

He opened his system and read notification. He got a warning message when he used inspect but could not read it because of his terrible pain.

[ Inspect skill is only available after level 10. Due to you using a skill similar to Inspect, the skill has unlocked early.]

[ Your body cannot handle more than two uses of perfect Inspect. Forcefully using it would damage your body]

When he read the notification he was happy then sad then frustrated.

"When the system had such notification system then why not already tell me in the beginning" he felt as if system was a thug.

It only notified him when he was already in terrible pain. The system could have saved him from that headache.

It did not even give him the necessary information. It only informed that he unlocked a skill before it was supposed to and would only work twice.

"I already used it more than twice, and in half an hour I was able to use it again" he focused on the perfect inspect part.

"The perfect inspect must mean the inspect after the level 10. The inspect used on low level beast must not be perfect because it did not cause me headache." he understood the explanation to a certain level.

He no more used the skill and closed the system. The team was still walking through the plateau searching for a place to settle in.

They found some places which were similar to cave but not that secure.

Morris said that they would temporary settle in the cave if they don't find out any other safe place nearby.

They walked for ten more minutes before founding a big cave enough for all five of them to rest in.

Morris and others took out their weapons ready to attack. Morris had a energy skill which worked as protective layer.

His body glowed blued, he slowly went in the cave first, followed by Jasper and others.

Roan also took out his knife not wanting to look careless. He was using wind path and could quickly attack the beast, if any.

Morris went in, the cave was dark but the light from his defense skill lit up the cave.

Inside the cave there was grey wolf. It was one meter in length. Its height was little less than a meter. It looked intimidating with its two sharp fangs.

The beast took its stance ready to dash to anyone of them who acted first.

Cold sweat formed on Morris's head. He was the closest to the wolf and most probably the first to be attacked by it.

Roan also felt sad, he did not have his inspect skill. The time needed to use the skill again was not yet confirmed.

He could not risk gambling his life just to check the beast's stats. If he fell down now because of headache, the wolf would not show mercy.

Morris gave some type of signal from back of his hand to others. Roan did not know its meaning but it was most probably some team formation.

He did not know their plan, he could only be extra vigilant to kill the wolf instantly.

He did not want to expose his strength but it did not mean he would let someone die in front of him.
