The man, that thick solid spirit figure lowered his head and took the leaves from his hair. Dawn was silent, looking at the figure for a couple of seconds. Even though he was just a mass of solid spirits, Dawn could feel his presence when he blocked the wind from him. The man smiled, the small willow leaf on his palm now, but still lowered his head, looking at Dawn's face for a long time. His curious eyes enjoy seeing the pretty figure right in front of him now.
The man smiled, Dawn's delicate face, from a very close distance, was even more attractive to look at. He couldn't stop looking. How could he resist that captivating look, especially those marble eyes? So enchanting.
"So, can I call you, Dawn? I'm Ethan Rouke by the way, you can call me Ethan," said the man holding out his hand.
Dawn tugged at his lips, pushing the man off him. Strangely, he could touch him as if he were another human being.
"No need to bother, you will also leave after a few days"
The figure straightened his body. He smiled when he saw Dawn who was looking straight in front of him and ignored him.
"That, maybe it will take time, until now those stupid police have not found any clues about my case. If by tomorrow they don't get any of it, they will cremate my body, and all the evidence will be gone with the dust" said the man.
Dawn looked at the man. He talked about his own story very calmly as if it was a very ordinary thing. Dawn should sympathize with him, his body is still lying in the freezer. His family only gave three days to the police and the deadline ends tomorrow. He is also very unfortunate.
"Does, you only have your uncle?" Dawn asked.
The man pursed his lips, he scratched his head.
"Hemh, that's still better before no one wanted to consider me as family, everyone disappeared when we grew up. Uncle and I are not close either, he just doing his job. Heh, if I knew I was going to die like this, I should have used my credit card to its limit. But I'm lucky I bought this leather jacket, it was really expensive. "Two months' salary as my journalist," said Ethan, holding a light brown leather jacket that was still shiny, it looked like it was still very new.
"This is good, right? I bought it a few days ago, it happened to have a fifty percent discount, I've been eyeing this jacket since last month, it's great."
Dawn looked at the man, finally stifling a laugh because he looked ridiculous. He looked away when the man realized that Dawn was laughing.
"Hey, is that funny? What are you laughing at?"
Dawn refrained from laughing. It had been a long time since he felt like laughing because of funny things. As far as he could remember, he hadn't wanted to laugh for a long time. However, he couldn't help but see the silly face of the man who, even though he had become a spirit, still had an optimistic nature, he never met anyone like this before.
"You work as a journalist? What's the last thing you remember? Which might be the cause of your death?" Dawn asked.
Hearing that question, the figure straightened up in his seat, thinking hard.
"That's right, what news did I work on last time, why did I forget it? Hmmm"
Ethan, the spirit thought hard. Until a sound from the direction of the house made them both turn around.
"Dawn! I've been looking for you everywhere. Are you ready? We'll be leaving in a moment," Emily shouted, approaching. Dawn looked at his aunt who looked ready.
"Now?" asked Dawn.
Emily pursed her lips, looking at Dawn with furrowed eyes.
"Well, what do you think? Come on, hurry up, clean your body, don't let Doctor Regan say you smell bad."
Dawn pursed his lips. Emily spoke loudly on purpose for everyone to hear it. Ethan restrained himself from laughing at Dawn's reaction.
"Hehehe, you don't smell bad, Dawn, even if you don't shower, you still smell good."
Dawn glanced at Ethan who seemed to be mocking him. He gets up from his seat.
"Em, does it have to be that loud?"
Emily smiled. He pulled Dawn's hand towards the house.
"Hehe, forgive me, my dear nephew, how could my Dawn smell bad, even though you haven't showered for two days, you still smell so good"
"Don't joke Em, you're making fun of me, right? Dawn looked annoyed and pulled his hand away from Emily. The woman couldn't stop laughing a little seeing Dawn get annoyed, so rarely to see that expression. Ethan followed the two towards the house.
...
"Take a deep breath"
A calm atmosphere filled Dr. Regan's office. The young doctor's face beamed; Dawn's arrival had him grinning uncontrollably. Dawn sat on the examination table, unbuttoning his shirt. The doctor placed his stethoscope on his chest, both top and bottom. Emily sat quietly at the doctor's desk, waiting for the examination.
"Again, take a deep breath and hold it for five seconds," the doctor said, placing the stethoscope on Dawn's back. Before five seconds passed, Dawn coughed. Dr. Regan observed his face.
"Is your chest tight?" he asked.
Dawn nodded. Ethan stood near the doctor's desk, arms folded across his chest, watching the doctor's actions.
"He's been all over you, Dawn. Look at that goofy grin; he thinks he's so handsome, smiling like that non-stop."
Dawn looked at Ethan, who was wandering around the room, touching things. For the first time, he realized that a spirit could roam quite far from its body, moving like any other living person.
Doctor Regan hangs the stethoscope around his neck. He helped Dawn button his shirt back up.
"Here, let me help you,"
But Dawn shifted the doctor's hand.
"Thanks, Doc. let me do it"
Doctor Regan helped Dawn out of bed.
"So, is Dawn alright?" Emily asked helping Dawn sit up.
Doctor Regan sat in his chair, looking at Dawn's face for a moment.
"Dawn's lungs are low for oxygen. If you can, make time for therapy. An hour or two. I don't have the equipment here so I will schedule a session at the hospital. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, is that possible?" the doctor asked looking at Dawn and Emily.
Emily saw Dawn who was busy buttoning his shirt, he grabbed his jacket and put it back on.
"No need doc, I'm fine, the funeral house is busy"
"Tomorrow works," Emily said, cutting Dawn off.
Doctor Regan looked at Dawn who was looking at Emily with sharp eyes.
"Em"
"Pops would tell you the same thing. The funeral house has Pops, Lena, and the others, they can handle it. Besides, there's only one new body today, so we won't be too busy tomorrow."."
Dawn just pursed his lips looking at her aunt in annoyance, speechless. Ethan stood behind Dr. Regan, looking at the computer screen and everything the doctor could see.
"Wow Dawn, you have to look at his phone wallpaper, this is a photo of you and him, is he one of your fan?"
Dawn wasn't going to pay attention to Ethan, who'd been pacing back and forth. But unconsciously, Dawn glanced at the doctor's phone on the table. Dr. Regan adjusted his glasses, sliding his phone, which had briefly lit up with a group message, away. He didn't want Dawn to see the wallpaper.
"Then, tomorrow, I will schedule morning time, ten o'clock. Is that okay?" asked Doctor Regan.
Emily nodded quickly.
"Of course, it's a perfect time, we haven't been that busy, have we, Dawn?"
Dawn crossed his arms in front of his chest. Would there be any changes if he said no? No matter what his aunt would still force him. Dawn couldn't help but take a deep breath.
"Heh"
Ethan leaned over to look at the doctor's laptop screen. Dawn's complete medical history was clearly displayed; the doctor had clearly done a lot of preparation.
"He's a real fan, Dawn. Look at all this data, he's really gone the extra mile," he said.
