Thomas looked around the room in frustration. he kept expecting Grace to walk in but there was still no sign of her. he reached out for his phone and called her number.
few seconds passed but there was no response. at last, it was answered. before the other side could speak up, thomas interrupted, "Where are you? why are you not here yet! I cant make them wait any longer."
Grace replied in a weak voice, "I don't think I can make it today. I have a sprained leg ..."
"what ...?" he looked at the crowd of students in the room. they were all waiting for him to lead them. "okay then ... take a break." he hung up on the call and walks back to his place.
other trainer noticed thomas's displeasure and asked away, "Is she not coming?" he only shooked his head in no. "What are we gonna do now, we need a female partner."
Thomas only stood speechless while the trainer freaked out. he knew grace too well from the start. there was nothing wrong with her leg. She lied to avoid the class. his career seemed like nothing but a pointless matter to her.
y/n walked into the room. there were more students present then she expected. even if she had taken class in the same room before, it was still an unfamiliar place to her.
but before she could realise anything else, she made eye contact with thomas. without even knowing, both stared at each other.
Of course they had some moments they've spent together. but was it worth recalling when their presence only makes them'strangers'?
thomas came back to his reality and looked away. she polietly bowed and walked off to a corner.
"How about you choose someone from the students?"
"what...?" thomas looks at the trainer confused.
"You must choose someone as your partner or we can't continue. I know they're not experienced but isn't it better than noone?" thomas listened to him and fell into deep thought. It may be a good opportunity to give others a chance to learn more but at the same time he was worried how the ignored ones would feel.
The trainer assumed that thomas didnt think any different and announced it to the students, "Attention everyone, we have a situation here." once everyone turned around at them, he added "our female trainer couldnt attend today." a sound of annoyance came out from the crowd. they were all dissappointed with today's class.
"But thomas will choose a female dancer from here to fill her position. So everyone please cooperate." All the female dancers in the room were pleased to hear the news. they fixed their hair and makeup while standing in the line.
Thomas approached the group of girls standing ahead and passed them when he recalled their perfomance to think that they were'nt capable enough. It continued until there were only few left.
y/n sure was no different from them. deep inside she wanted to be choosen too. but she also has to consider the consequences. The mean girls who despised her for approaching thomas would probably lean towards a headache.
towards the end, Thomas stood in front of y/n. she felt compressed in front of him. she wanted to hide away and not get selected. her hearbeat increased when she noticed him slowing down his pace. a sudden eye contact happened as they stood still.
At this point, everyone was convinced that y/n was the chosen one but they were all shocked by the sudden entry of a third person.
Someone approached them and put his arm in between to restrain thomas from his choice, "she's taken."
both turned to face someone familliar, "jay...?" his name left her mouth in shock. surely he wasnt in a place to stop the trainer but since he did so, thomas felt irritated. he only forced a smile and chose the girl standing beside y/n.
"we'll continue the class, everyone please take your positions." one by one all the students were paired. y/n still didnt get over what happened a while ago. "you can dance...its quite unexpected."

The next day, students crowd in to see the selected couples. Henry came out of the crowd while trying to catch his breath.
"Did they make it?" Isla asked excitedly.
The other shaked his head in no. y/n stood right next to them but she did not react too much. it was expected from her side. deep down she knew she wasn't good enough.
"Hey cheer up! We can still have fun."
