When the world stops

Chapter one

"So are you trying to tell me that you still haven't finished the assignment I've given you" My boss shouts. "I have not finished it yet but I will get it done by tomorrow" I sigh. My boss looks at me and whispers "This is your last chance". I walk back to my desk with all eyes on me. I got back to work on the assignment that was overdue.

"Nyla, I heard what happened. Do you need any help". I shake my head as I type more quickly. The girl talking to me was my friend. Her name is Lily and she is my boss's girlfriend. Last night I was hanging out with her and since she is a higher status than me when she offered me a drink I felt as if I had to take it. So I drank it but after I finished one she kept offering more and more. If I didn't drink so much I would have turned in the assignment the same night. Lily sits and smiles at me saying "When someone in higher status offers you help you should take it". She could be a little rude sometimes but who am I to tell her that. I take a look at my watch and stand up. "Nyla where are you going don't you have work to do?". She tells me. I look at her and say "It's my break and i have to go visit my sick grandmother so if you could please get out of my way". As I finish my sentence I notice the boss looking in my direction. Lily notices me looking and forces herself to fall as if I pushed her. Her fake tears stream down her face crying out "You didn't have to push me Nyla i was going to move in just a second" The boss rushes to her aid as i just stand still staring at her with my coldest expression. He looks up at me and asks me what has happened. "I do not know for when I stood up for whatever reason she fell, I'm on my lunch break and this right here is taking up my time". I start to walk off but I stop in my tracks and turn back and smile and say "I hope you had a good fall Lily" I turn back around and walk off. As I was walking I could still hear the fake tears slowly fading behind me.

I wait outside the bus stop. The bus was running late. I sit down and lay my head back. And before I could even realize my eyes were glued shut and I was asleep. I had an hour break and I usually spent 30 minutes talking to my grandmother and the other 20 getting back to my job. It was 1:25. "Ma`am the bus is here hurry our you`ll be left behind" I open my eyes to see a guy with dark brown hair and a sharp jawline. I sit up and say thank you. I took a look at my watch and it was now 2 o'clock. I slept for 35 minutes so now I have no time to go meet my grandmother. I thank the guy one last time before I start to walk back towards my job.

I get inside of my office and everyone is staring at me and whispering. I don't give them any attention and sit back at my desk. My boss walks up to me and tells me to meet him in his office. I look down at my shoes. They were flat black shoes that revealed my size of 5 foot. I then stand up and start to walk towards my boss's office. I knock on the door and when I hear you can enter I walk in. My boss is sitting at his desk and looks me up and down over and over again. I just stand there and wait for his instructions. The silence is broken with him asking me a question. "Why?" I looked at him with confusion. "Why did you push her right after looking at me?" he asks, I stay quiet knowing that i didn't even lay a finger on her. He starts to smirk before standing up and sitting on his desk facing me. "Did you think touching her would effect me in any way?, Cause if so you are very wrong, And what are you doing pushing someone half your size?, huh". I chuckle. " I did not touch her and to be absolutely honest I don't mind my height, If this is all you have to say then i will make my way back to my desk". He smiles at me, I turn around and walk back to my desk and of course Lily had to be standing there waiting for me. "Yes?" I ask. She looks around and says " Don't you have something to say to me?". I Laugh "Move out of my way,I got work to do and I'm sure you do as well". She scoffs and walks off. I sit down and get back to work so I can hand in the assignment the same night.

It is now five at night and almost every person is out of the office, Lily is still here and I can feel her eyes glued to me. I finished up the last marks and handed the chip in to my boss. I get my stuff and walk out of the office. It takes an hour and a half to get to my apartment. I sit back at the same bus stop and wait for the bus.
