When the Reader Descends Into the Novel With a System

Darkness and light. Two extremes coexisting. A law of equivalent exchange, balancing the world. Where there is light, there must be darkness. And as such, where there is darkness, there must be light. That is the rule of the world my child, and you are the one balancing on the fine line, stuck in between. An anomaly. An abomination. Where you go, death and destruction follow. That will be your fate. You are the one and only son of the darkness, mothered by the daughter of the light. What path will you walk my child? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the story of Kurayami Akimitsu, a contradiction of light and darkness, and I, who reincarnated into his body. In this world based off a novel I had read, what will happen with the addition of me, an unknown entity? Who knows everything about the future of this world. Will I survive with this identity? Only time will tell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently on HIATUS. This is my WSA 2022 submission. A/N: So this is going to be the second novel that I will seriously write, with an upload rate of 7 chapters a week. My inspirations for this novel were TAPOV (The Author's POV) and DWTN (Dance With the Nightingale) but the world building will be extremely different and the backstory of the MC will be unique also. The ranking system will be the same, but it's the same ranking system across a lot of novels, so I think it's okay for me to use? There also might be cliches like an academy and an auction, but again, I'll make it as different from the norm as possible. I hope that this will be a refreshing take on the "mob character becoming overpowered genre" for you guys. Release Rate: Check the schedule Chapter Length: 1000-1500 words per chapter My chapters are edited by myself, so forgive me if I make any mistakes. Just comment if there is a mistake anywhere. The first 10 or so chapters are filled with world building stuff, so I hope you'll stick with it and read it as I tried to make it all original. After the first 10, the story should pick up and the action will start, so please don't drop it after only reading a few chapters. Discord Link: https://discord.gg/8ePQESSSHT Finally, as always, thanks for reading! All names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this story are purely fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, or products are intended. Note: The cover doesn't belong to me. If you are the original owner and want me to take it down, please leave a comment on my latest chapter.

Oh My God?!! A Fortunate Encounter Right Off the Bat? (1) - 88

<Ruiki's POV>

Finally, we were finally done with that whole interview shenanigan thing.

And also, for some reason, Bella had gone into total radio silence.

My most prominent theory for what had happened was that the author had done something to conveniently push the plot forward, because Bella would have spat on for hours, so naturally, I was singing his praises right now. (A/N: Like you all should.)

'Ha, what if she accidentally overheated because she was talking to much!'

As this thought surfaced in my mind, I started laughing at my own joke, before suddenly turning serious, as I looked at the two moons in the sky.

After all, they had reminded me of a fortunate encounter that I had heard about in my previous run through, and now that I had a clear goal, plans were already starting to form, and I knew what I needed to do.

So, with one last glance at the moons, I finally left my spot on that grassy hill, my figure disappearing from the scope of the moonlight.

...

The completion of the following task will result in a clearing of this world.

The objective is as stated by the system:

[Objective:

Save the "Lost Heroine"

(D) Grade Evaluation Requirement: The "Lost Heroine" is alive at the end of the plot.

(C) Grade Evaluation Requirement: The "Lost Heroine" is happy at the end of the plot

(B) Grade Evaluation Requirement: The "Lost Heroine" is heavily in love at the end of the plot.

(A) Grade Evaluation Requirement: The "Lost Heroine" kills her brother.

(S) Grade Evaluation Requirement: The "Lost Heroine" becomes the ruler of the world.

(?) Grade Evaluation Requirement: ???

Note: To gain a higher evaluation, all prior evaluation requirements must also be completed.

Good Luck!]

...

As I had already done this once before, I naturally knew who the "Lost Heroine" was, the MC's sister.

But, you know me, being the dumbass that I was, I hadn't figured it out until the very end, and so I had only been able to get the (D) grade evaluation, giving me a trash reward.

Anyways, now that I was looking at the requirements once again, I realized something after reading between the lines.

You see, the (A) grade evaluation requirement was that she needed to kill her brother, so, this meant that, normally, she wouldn't kill her brother?

Honestly, this explained a lot of things to me, as I remembered that the Lost Heroine had for some reason lost the battle.

I mean, I had been there, at the battlefield, as I witnessed the Lost Heroine losing even though she had been much stronger than the protagonist in my eyes.

'So it seems like this girl harbored good feelings for her brother after all this time, respect, but it's not like Namida wouldn't do the same thing...'

I was also one and the same, in some aspects, with that lucky bastard after all.

Anyways, I had watched on as she was barely able to get away with her life, and that was how I had cleared the scenario last time, not even trying to get any of the other evaluations.

But this time, everything would be different, as I kind of needed at least an (A) rank clear.

And well, from what I had just conjectured above, that would probably be one of the hardest things that I would have to do in my life.

So, I started scheming, as I continued to race to the opportunity that I wanted, letting my second mind do all the running mechanics, as I planned out 10,000 different paths that I could take to reach my goal, all of the paths fluid though, as they were made to adapt to any changes in this world.

I mean, the Empress and Namida were here too, and if I expected them to not cause any waves in this world, then I would probably be the dumbest person in the whole universe.

But still, one question lingered in the back of my mind this entire time.

I mean, for some reason, Bella had even stopped controlling my second mind, and the chip was just sitting there in my brain, not active or anything.

I was starting to worry, and it was definitely affecting the effectiveness of my thinking brain right now.

But... No, I didn't have the time right now. Looking at the two moons, I knew that this would be the only day possible for me to get this opportunity, and I couldn't let it go.

So, I continued running, the moon backdropping everything, as I blended in with the shadows of the forest, becoming almost a shadow myself.

...

After running away from the moons for a good 3 hours, I finally found myself in front of a lake.

You see, this lake was named the, "Immemorial Lake", and it appeared in front of any person that ran away from the two moons of this world for a few hours whilst both moons were full, which only happened about once every one hundred years.

And yes, the guy who first found this in my previous regression had been a young master who had been running away from some assassins that a rival family had sent to kill him.

He had, out of pure luck, been running away from the direction the moons were, and so this lake appeared in front of him.

Jumping into the lake, as he thought that it was better to just drown himself than to die to those assassins, he had quickly noticed that there had been a light at the bottom of the lake.

So, as he lost all the oxygen in his body, and his consciousness became lighter and lighter, he couldn't help but yell a hail mary in his mind before swimming closer and closer to that light, knowing full well that he didn't have enough air to swim back to the surface of the lake again.

And well, it had all paid off, as he was able to gain a very good material, one that I desperately needed.

As, after all, having been in this body for a few hundreds before in my previous run through, I knew exactly the problem I was facing right now.

It was an extremely dirty problem, but once solved, would make me into a legend once more.

I mean, if I had done it once, I could do it again.

You see, I was a nameless orphan, but also a bastard that had been born without a dao beast in his soul.

So, all I could do was become a limitless bastard, and do it I would.

10/10 chaps for today, woohoo!

Thanks for reading!
