Chapter 47

"I command you to reveal yourselves to me first! I can become queen on my own if I want to. Did mister Garfield send you to harass me?" She wouldn't put it past the man to send someone to trick her. If it was truly him, he disrespected her twice in one day and she was not going to just take that.

"Just like you I hate that man. I am a being your brother has been hiding from everyone in the palace. I have watched his every move for a long time and know all of his plans. If you want to become queen you need someone like me on your side."

"Being? You are not human?" It now dawned on Catherine what that chilling feeling was. Why would her brother have someone that was not human alive inside of the palace when he was sending out his guards frequently to kill those who didn't seem normal?

"Is it clicking in your mind that if anyone found out this information your brother would be in hot water? But that's not how I plan to make you become queen. I can do things out of this world to help you get what you want."

"How will I be better than Darius if I use your help? If anyone finds out that I worked with some creature, I'm doomed. Darius will hide his own secrets and put me to receive anyone's hatred. He and those ministers who leech off of him won't have a problem with disowning me. Why would I risk my title?" Catherine truly wasn't as foolish as everyone put her out to be. She thought carefully about her future which is why she wanted to get married to Alexander.

"You have so little faith in me. I never reveal who I am working for, princess. You have my word that I will never reveal that I am helping you. Let's just say I like you more than your brother and I'll say it was him if that will make you feel better. I am not going to extend this offer for much longer princess. I am not one who enjoys begging." Chaos was drifting away from what Artemis had planned but he was certain the woman would love what he planned to do.

"I don't trust you," Catherine admitted, wary of what was speaking to her right now. The offer sounded tempting but there was no way for her to know she could trust whatever this person was.

"And you shouldn't but I am your only chance."

"Answer me this, what does my brother need you for inside of the palace? He wants to kill all your kind. Have you been helping him locate them? Are you a traitor to your people?" She asked. It was crazy to think her paranoid brother kept something like this around. If she had proof, she would expose this to everyone as revenge for the way he treated her just now. She had always been a petty person.

"Your brother thinks he has me as a prisoner but as you can see, I am free to roam as I please. I am asking you for the last time princess, do you want my help or not?" Chaos was starting to get annoyed with the princess. Annoying ran in the family obviously. If he wasn't certain that he could manipulate her, he wouldn't have entertained this for so long.

Catherine had a bad feeling about this but her need to become queen was clouding her judgment. When a golden opportunity like this was presented to her, how could she just turn it away? If someone were to ever find out about this she'll drag Darius down with her. "I do. Now what?"

Chaos smirked, revealing himself from the shadows in a human form. It was to make the princess less scared of him. "Pleasure to be working with you."

Catherine was surprised to see the handsome man with white hair and blue eyes appear out of thin air. Had he been a human male from a good family, he would be at the top of the list for many young girls to get married to because of his looks. However, he wasn't that good looking to gain her interest. "What is your name and how will you help me? I expect to see some results quickly since you are not human."

"It would be best if you could refrain from mentioning that I am not a human princess. This is not the best place for anyone to be anything but human." Right after Chaos said this there was a knock at the door from Alexis since she had finally found the princess.

"Don't come in yet!" Catherine yelled to her. "How are you going to help me? You did not answer that question. How long will it take for me to see the results?"

"Patience princess. All good things come to those who wait. I will see you soon when the time is right," Chaos disappeared from her sight right after. He needed to get back to the king's bedroom before he noticed Chaos was gone.

"I better not regret this," Catherine muttered.
