SURVIVAL

Before we could get to the location given to us we were told an Accident occurred close to the highway. I didn't want to believe what I heard at first until we were told that it was the same van that took Brianna.

I prayed asking God to keep her safe, Gia was shivering beside me, my mum has been informed that Brianna was missing.

How am I supposed to face my parents? They left her in my care but I couldn't keep her safe. Am sure my mum will be freaking out right now.

Immediately Dax packed the car, we all jumped off rushing to the scene but the police won't let us get any closer.

"I'm sorry but you all need to go back" he said.

"Please just let me pass my sister is in that car"

"I can't let you near that, we are still trying to get the victims in the van out. The truck driver has been rushed to the hospital"

I felt like the world stopped moving at a time. Just then I saw the rescue team bringing someone out of the van.

It was Brianna, she was still wearing her birthday dress. She was covered in blood, I was finding it difficult to breathe. Dax on the other side stood like a statue staring out in a blank space.

I pushed the police immediately and rushed to her side. She has injuries on every part of her body. Her body was covered with blood.

It felt like it was the end of the world, the rescue team tried pushing me off but I wasn't going to leave. They were still trying to keep her stable, I heard them saying that they needed to keep her stable .

"She is losing a lot of blood we need to stop the bleeding"

"How deep is the wound on her head?"

"Is much we need to get her to the hospital now and fast"

"We need a relative to go with us"

All this time I just stood staring at Brianna as tears ran down my face. It was like I was here but I wasn't here at the same time, for some seconds my spirit left my blood that I didn't hear the rescue team guy calling for me.

"Kid, kid!, Kid!!" He called this time slapping my cheeks slightly which brought me back to the moment.

"I need you to focus, your sister is dying and we need to rush her to the hospital. She needs you right now more than ever and if you keep blacking out like that you might lose her"

"What do I have to do?" I asked, wiping the tears off my face.

"We need you to sit beside her in the rescue van. We will try to keep her stable until we get to the hospital.

I walked up to Gia who had been crying her lungs out and took her hand leaving Dax behind. I was angry. I wanted to hit Dax right there in the face.

"What is happening, why is Brianna like that? Eric say something" Gia said, pushing me.

"Gia please we need to get Brianna to the hospital or we might lose her for good" I said trying to calm her down but she pushed my hands off and walked towards Dax. Who was still frozen at a spot since we got here.

"This is all your fault you Monster!. Brianna just wanted to have a good birthday party but you ruined it" she said but what she did next surprised me.

She hit Dax hard on the face not once or twice but continuously. I rushed towards her immediately and carried her away from Dax. Who just stood there as he was getting hit by Gia.

"Let me go, you should have been the one that was involved in this accident, Brianna had nothing to do with your stupid past, how come she is the one paying for it"

Gia screamed on Dax's face, I managed to drag her away from him. But she wanted to go back maybe to hit him more but Dax was already devastated.

"Gia we need to go, we have to go save Brianna or we could really lose her forever"

"No, no, no, it was supposed to be her birthday party. How did we end up here?" She asked, shaking her head, she hadn't registered it yet she was still finding it difficult to believe that we were with her a few moments ago but now she is lying lifeless in the pull of her own blood.

"We need to go, she needs us" I took her as we both entered the rescue van sitting beside Brianna.

Just before we left I saw the rescue team bringing Jake out, he was also in a critical condition as Brianna.

I heard the rescue team saying that he has a broken leg. We took off to the hospital, the rescue team called mum and informed her of the incident.

When we got to the hospital mum was already there waiting. Brianna was examined by the doctor before having my mum sign up for her surgery.

I know my mum was trying to be strong in front of us but looking at her eyes I could tell she has been crying. Gia on the other side went cold, she wasn't talking to anyone and she refused to go home to get some rest while we waited for the doctors.

I haven't seen Dax in hours, I hope he doesn't do something stupid, like trying to kill Jake. I know he is angry and all but making more mistakes is the last thing we need at the moment.

"Eric, can I talk to you for a moment?" my mum said before she walked outside and I followed her out.

"Where is Dax?" That was the first thing she asked and I couldn't answer her because we left him behind.

"I don't know mum, we left him behind"

"Why?" I didn't want her to know the truth but I had to say something.

"The guy that abducted Brianna was her ex-boyfriend the one that asked her to a date and didn't show up"

"Am aware of that keep talking"

"I really don't know but Dax warned me against Jake, he said he knew Jake back in West town that he has a misunderstanding with him and since then Jake wouldn't let him be"

"I still don't understand what that has to do with my daughter"

"I know, I am also confused. Jake has been going on and about saying he was going to hurt Brianna but I really didn't take it serious to report him, am sorry mum"

"It's okay , she will be fine, I know my daughter, she is a fighter. I want you to go find Dax, he has nothing to do with this"

"Wait, you are not angry that he might be the cause for this?"

"No am not but am disappointed in you because you didn't see the effort he put to keeping your sister safe"

"What do you mean?"

"The police called me, apparently Jake has been stalking your sister for a while now. He wanted to harm your sister then blame it on Dax just so he will be arrested.

Dax who noticed something was off immediately he saw Jake at Freedom high immediately called up some agent whom he paid to watch over your sister"

I was surprised, I never knew Dax went to that extent to keep Brianna safe, I felt ashamed for how I treated him.

"Mum I swear I had no idea"

"I know, go find him and bring him here while I will go talk to Gia"

"Thanks mum" I hugged her before I took my phone and dialled Dax's number, he wasn't picking up. I rushed outside the hospital only to find him standing outside.

"I know you don't want me around her but please just tell me how she is doing and I promise I will just leave"

He looked terrible, if not for the issue at hand I would have laughed at him.

"It's okay, you can come and wait for her with us. She is still in the surgery room"

"You are not going to throw me out?" He asked with a little light in his eyes.

"Yes I won't" I said and extended my hand to him which he took as we both headed back inside.
