Chapter 15 The last straw

Jake had taken a lot of hits and his previous handsome face wss riddled in deep cuts and blood, Nevertheless it was working.

The kendoclaw Lizard looked to be in a more miserable position as all of its hard scales had been penetrated with deep claws and slash marks.

Black blood was oozing out and its long, spiky tail had been severed cleanly with one violent slash. Jake had used his new ability to successfully increase his speed as he copied Jesses speed ability, improving his reflexes to yet another substantial degree.

Running down the knuckles of his right arm was a long bonelike claw exactly like Tuckers.

     [ NEW SKILL LEARNT: BONECLAW SLASH ]

That was the new move that he used to severe the Lizards tail and break through the tough scales.

He dashed forward towards the lizard and the latter shot out its tongue in panic to try to counter. But Jake was a blur as he sped past the tongue and cut it off with the claws on his left hand.

This was just a beast fighting on instinct and its attacks had become way too predictable. The beast shrieked in pain and Jake sled on the floor and used the Boneclaw to cut of one of its front legs. 

At that moment, he looked like wolverine except with a single claw.

The lizard howled and staggered about to lose its balance when jake turned around for another attack. The beast panicked and did something Jake didn't espect.

It flapped its wings with huge force and speed that the wind actually knocked Jake back by a couple meters. The kendoclaw didn't seize the moment to attack and instead flapped its wings vigorously as it attempted to flee, actually taking flight into the air.

"Damnit! I didn't think it could actually fly".

         [ TIME LIMIT: 1:03 ]

Only one minute left, no way am gonna lose now. He clenched his fists and dashed towards the departing Kendoclaw that was already in the air.

He picked up the spiky tail he had cut of an hurled it at one of the beasts flapping wings.

What foloowed was a large crashing sound as the overgrown lizard plummeted to the ground. 

       CRASH.... . 

Seeing the lizard in such a vulnerable state, Jake didn't hesitate and leapt in the air towards the beast.

   [ BONECLAW SLASH ]

He swung down with a fast slash and the lizards head rolled off its body and black blood spurted everywhere.

"Did I.... Did I really just kill a beast"? As if to answer his question, a notification screen popped up.

        [ YOU HAVE KILLED A RANGER GRADE KENDOCLAW ]

       [ OBJECTIVE COMPLETED: YOU HAVE PERMANENTLY UNLOCKED KINTARAN DARKSIGHT ]

       Notifications kept popping one after the other and jakes brain was feeling overwhelmed.

       [ SYSTEM REWARDS: INSTANT LEVEL UP. LEVEL 1 REACHED ]

        [ BONUS POWER REMOVED, ALL STATS WILL RETURN TO NORMAL ]

         A sharp pain swept through jakes body and he fell to the floor unable to support himself. He checked his stat logs and the reason was quite obvious

[ STAMINA: 0 ]

[ HEALTH: 3 ]

      "Shit! I used too much energy". The fight had naturallly depleted his stamina and health to extremely low values. His willpowet must have held up the pain so he would be able to kepp fighting but that was all over now and the pain flooded his entire system.

More roars could be heard coming his way, his fight had naturally drawn quite an audience and now the spectators were coming to rip him to shreds.

He got up and moved a few feet away from the dead kendoclaw and rested his back against a tree, he couldn't fight now even if he wanted to, he couldn't even flee. 

A large wave is beasts poured out of the forest rushing towards jakes position, Jake closed his eyelids and waited for his fate but a large bangggg interrupted his path to death.

A large explosion had blown up a huge portion of the beasts in front of him,  he raised his head up and saw two large mech planes that looked more like small battleships.

Men and women jumoed out from the plane and immediately engaged the monsters in combat using all kinds of explosive firepower.

He watched the beasts being effortlessly slain that he had struggled so hard with while the military suffered minimal losses and these guys were foot soldiers.

"Hey pretty boy, not so prettty now are you"? Jake turned his head and saw Jesse being carried by soldiers with a low smile on her face and small tears while Tucker had completely blacked out. He was dead!

        A doctor rushed over to jakes side and injected him with a syringe

      [ SLEPPING POISON DETECTED. CHOSENS WILLPOWER IS TOO LOW TO BLOCK ]

Drowsiness clouded his vision, he had no energy so it worked almost instantly.

A voice resounded in his head the moment he drifted off, chukling lightly. " WELL DONE BOY".
