Chapter 29 : ....Not Literally.

( SYDNEY'S POV )

I stopped in my tracks and looked behind me, " Now I'm sure someone's calling my name ". I scanned the long corridor and shook my head as I leaned on the wall [ I'd rather stay put than walk back ]

( ( TYLER'S POV ) )

I was surprised when I saw she stopped moving again. I shook it off and moved faster, [ Better not to jinx it ] I turned the corner and saw her leaning against the wall. I twitched slightly as I started the long walk towards her.

She seemed to realize someone else was there and smiled at me as she waved her hand, " Good Morning Tyler ". I sighed as I waved back, " There's definitely nothing good about this morning ".

She made to close the distance between us when she started walking towards me, kicking at imaginary stones " You found me, didn't you "? I clenched my teeth slightly, " We should really get you back. It seems like this part of the castle is abandoned for some reason ".

She nodded slightly then laughed, " No problem, scardy cat ". I frowned, " At least I'm not a reckless Betty ". She blew me a raspberry [ My human vocabulary is off the charts ] " Alright, no more joking around. Let's go back ".

She sighed as she kicked her foot out, " Fine, I was getting bored again anyways ". She seemed to miss her step and nearly fell. She leaned on the wall and managed to balance herself.

She winked and tried to look natural, maintaining her original standing position and leaning against the wall rather awkwardly, " I meant to do that ". I nodded in obvious disbelief, " Of course you did ".

There was a sudden groaning of chains and we both looked up at the ceiling when there was a slight tremor. I sighed, glad the ceiling didn't cave in " We should really get out of her Sydney ".

She nodded in agreement and laughed, " I'm so over this ". She let go of the wall and the trembling continued again, only this time it was louder. She really looked scared this time, " Tyler ". Then the ground seemed to be disappearing behind her.

She looked at me this time, " Tyler "! My body moved before my brain could process what was going on, " Shit "! and ran the small distance left and caught her hand just in time.

She stopped screaming when she realized she wasn't falling again and gave me her other hand and started laughing. I frowned, taking the other hand " Are you seriously laughing right now "?

( SYDNEY'S POV )

[ What if it isn't Tyler? ] The thought occurred to me when the footsteps seemed closer and since I'd probably already given away my position, running wasn't an option, so I thought of something else.

That's when I realized someone was looking at me. Half expecting it it be a bad guy, I was glad it was Hunter...I mean Tyler and waved at him. I started walking towards him since I realized that would be the way back [ Why didn't I walk back the way I came? Note to self: Retrace steps next time lost ]

I did tease him a little and blew a raspberry [ Did I brush my teeth this morning? ] My bad breath was all the answer I needed and kept walking, idly kicking imaginary stuff out of my way.

" Alright, no more joking around. Let's go back ". I sighed and missed my step, kicking when I was supposed to be walking. Luckily for me, I didn't land flat on my face and managed to stop myself when my hand touched the wall.

[ That could have been bad ] and remembered Tyler was still in front of me [ And is still embarrassing ] I tried to look natural and it only hurt my back, " I meant to do that " and he spoke sarcastically, " Of course you did ".

I did nothing and yet it seemed like the palace was about to crumble, not once but twice. I ended up on my knees the second time, really scared me too as I looked at Tyler who was stumbling about, trying to keep his balance.

I even ended up calling out his name, " Tyler "! I looked down at the floor [ That was even more embarrassing, I wish the floor would just open up and swallow me ] I know it seemed what happened next was obvious and if it wasn't, the floor did open up [ I didn't mean it literally ]

It crumbled slowly behind me, I even had enough time to look at him and still ended up calling out to him, " Tyler ". The floor I was on finally caved in and I really thought I was gonna die when I opened my eyes and saw Tyler was holding my hand firmly.

I looked down and I thought I saw something glow but shook it off then stopped screaming as I gave him my other hand [ My life was probably about to start flashing before my eyes ]

I ended up laughing as Tyler pulled me out and he seemed upset, " Are you seriously laughing right now "? I sighed as he brought me out and pursed my lips, " Nun uh ". He raised an eyebrow, setting me down on the solid ground " Then what was that "?

I pointed at the gaping hole in the ground, " Was a really weird echo ". He nodded slowly, obviously not believing me as he held out his hand to me, " Then we should get going before something creepier shows up ".
