Chapter 9

Yrene's PoV

Shit. I just noticed that my sleeve had hiked up a little making the scars prominent but thankfully Mr. Drew hadn't seemed to notice it. He at least hadn't questioned me about that... I mean he's so arrogant with the way he thinks he can get anything he wants when he demands it.

I internally grunt at my train of thought knowing just how true it is. What a douche!

I gave him the directions to my house, swiftly, so as to get over and done with the ride already; the whole time I was so awkward and flustered I could die of it.

Just when I thought it couldn't get anymore awkward, let me tell you, it did,

"Hand them over."

I was taken aback by the weird command mostly because I didn't know what he meant, I had no clue what he was referring to; I swear I didn't have a gun on me. So then what was he asking for?

"Pardon?"

"The cigs Miss. Hand them over."

He stretched out his long, manly, Greek god fingers in front of me for emphasis. Wait, did he just call cigarettes 'cigs',?

I start to laugh so hard, and not the pretty pink princess type, like proper ugly donkey laugh; my stomach aches and I can barely breathe.

"Miss what is so funny?"

Did he really not get it? Oh well, more for me to laugh about. He doesn't even give me time to respond and brings the car came to a sudden halt.

"Are you okay, Miss? Do you have any other substance on you?"

Great! Did he just ask me if I was high? Okay, he looked so damn serious then that I stopped laughing, coughed and answered him; I bit my tongue to stop the spurts of laughter from escaping my mouth.

"No, Sir I'm not high nor do I have drugs on me, that's not my scene. Nah-huh. Yes, I admit I do drink a little," not really little but yea... "but that's it I am fully in control of my thoughts and actions."

"Fine." He purses his lips and nods, as if motioning for me to explain myself, "Then what is so funny about the situation?"

I sigh in defeat, proceeding to explain,

"Bro... chill out! I was only laughing because you called cigarettes 'cigs'. That's all."

"Okay," he nods again, " if you say so but to be very honest I just thought that was the new 'lingo', but seriously though ," he looks me direct in the eye with an expression so stern that I am sure that had it been anyone other than myself they would have turned to stone by now, "hand them over now."

This time I am glad that he air-quoted 'lingo' but still it was kind of funny ,however, I don't laugh this time but simply taste, with as much sarcasm as I can muster,

"Okay dad."

I take out the packet of Marlboro Lights and place it in his outstretched palm.

"Great. Now the other one too." He gives me a sarcastic smile and nods towards my left pocket,

"What? Miss I'm not that old. I know them tricks."

I huff and hand over the other packet to him too. We drive on in silence from there and eventually end up at my house.

And to be honest now that we had reached, I didn't want to leave just yet; I'd rather stay in the car with the Greek god next to me and just relax than go inside where I knew the party was still full swing, judging by the fact that teenagers were still standing in the front lawn, red cups in hand, but I had no other choice, did I?

"That's me." I hop a little in my seat before thanking him, " Thanks Sir."

I open the door but a hand on my elbow stops me; his hand and I feel an electric shock pass through my skin that is in contact with his at that point. Stupid hormones or whatever.

"Miss... you know I can care too, actually, you might not know it but anyways, I do, because I now know you and because Barry cares for you too. It's been a very very short time since I've met you but I want to let you know that you can trust me and talk to me about anything and everything when you want, okay?"

He proceeds to give me a very hot and very dimpled full blown smile. Not to over exaggerate but it did kind of take my breath for a few seconds, so much so that I couldn't answer him properly so I just managed a slight nod and a close lipped smile.

Just as I am about to make my way in I turn around, knowing he was the type of guy who was going to wait till I got back in safely; I run back to his car and knock on his car window indicating for him to roll it down,

"Ummm Mr. Drew?"

He nods for me to go on,

"I'm sorry to bother you again but my name is Yrene and you know it so please call me that, like just don't call me Ms. Jones or Miss, it kind of makes everything too formal for my liking."

He nods and gives me a smirk, not the full blown smile but still somethin somewhat similar,

"Yrene it is then."

I am just about to leave when he stops me again with his manly voice this time,

"Oh and Miss-pardon I mean Yrene, call me Chase when we're not in class please, as you said it makes the whole scenario less formal."

"Will do."

He gives me one last smile before I walk back inside.

I cannot believe I am on a first name basis with him; impressive.
