Chapter 6

Yrene's PoV

I excuse myself from the bickering brothers. Barry quickly hugs me, letting go before anyone from the school could see and both the brothers bid me adieu.

In a state of shock, I left them to their argument or whatever it was and make my way to my friends, pretending to be not as shocked. It was a Friday night. My parents were away and would be back late; Ideal party scenario.

Later that evening at the party, exhausted, Aelin, Katie and I were sitting on the couch

"He's cute isn't he?"

"Who?"

Too tired to take an active part in the boy talk I only listened to my two friends discussing a random boy however, it turned out that the boy, or man rather wasn't random; no sir.

"Mr. Drew, the younger one of course, who else?"

"Yeah got to admit: saw him for the first time today and boy he's an eye candy." Katie nods her head.

"Umm guys he's engaged. Or married."

My first contribution to the conversation which led to me being eyed suspiciously by the two cat-like women and before I can even begin to explain, Katie fires her question,

"And how must you know, Nene?"

"I kind of saw a ring on his left ring finger earlier when he came to talk to Barry and I."

In sync, the two simultaneously cluck their tongues, seemingly disappointed,

"What a pity that a piece of meat as fine as himself might be bound already."

Aelin and I make gagging actions to the Mr. Drew being referred to as 'meat' by Katie but on my part it was all a show because those were my initial thoughts on the matter. What? He's a good looking man who carries himself super well, oh and plus has amazing forearms from what I could gather by what I could see from where his sleeves were rolled up.

I didn't like to believe it but it felt like this was not going to end well. The whole crashing into Mr Drew thing; because I knew how this was going to end for me.

I knew it all too well.

I would develop an unrealistic crush on him, knowing full well it's not going to work and then end up being hurt, badly.

Good God why could I not like one normal guy without any complications? Why did it always have to be so fucked up? I must have zoned out because I was taken aback by Katie and Aelin snapping and waving their hands in front of my eyes.

"What?"

"You tell us what. What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing."

"It clearly wasn't nothing so tell us." Katie gives me a stern look.

"Guys. Please"

"Yr please don't think about Nick. You know he's not worth it."

Dammit they always knew when my thoughts would drift to him and my stupid crush on him! I hate him! I hate his perfect face! His lovely smile! I hate how he made me feel at home when I wasn't there! Damn him and his perfect life and his perfect ways! I hate how he healed me to an extent only to break me again! I hate his preppy girlfriend who took him away from me and I will never forgive her! Never, because she has played a very important role in making me hate myself!

Speaking of the bitch she was about to come over to me , undoubtedly to provoke and get me into trouble for no reason, but all in good time Katie saw her and told me.

I finished the beer I was drinking and headed out, telling my friends I was going for a run so that they could tell my already wasted brothers and my sister in law if they asked.
