Chapter 2

Chase's PoV

My feet seemed to have been glued to the ground, and the world seemed to have stopped moving as she came into my view. A vision straight out of a fairytale. She was in a hurry and thus, it made complete sense to me that she hadn't spotted me walking in the her general direction to get to my new office.

She looked like a princess from the olden times; a princess in a hurry. Her long billowy dress sweeping the floor even as she attempted to bunch it up in her hands at the side of her waist, the image complete with the heavy wreath of flowers and pearls sitting atop a braided strand of hair the colour of the blackest night. Struck by this sight I was so, that before I could move out of her way the girl crashed into me.

The impact was subtle and soft, certainly lacking the heavy blow I had expected it to deliver but that was only for me I guess because the girl, student rather I had figured by now considering I had seen her face in the hallway once before, seemed to be hit by it pretty harshly. As a matter of fact she was about to collapse onto the stones of the corridor but I was quick, before she hit the floor, I held her by the waist, preventing such an incident. She fell backwards in my arms and where my hands contacted with the bare skin of her back and shoulders I felt electric sparks.

Ah it must be the static current from her hair; yes, that must be it: my body was giving a path to the static charges from her dark as night hair to flow and I was feeling the sparks it resulted in.

She seemed stunned as well, literally hanging off my arm but she said nothing and did nothing other than gaze with her, deep blue orbs which glinted like star fire, into my eyes.

We were close enough that I could see the strand of her liquid night-like hair woven with pearls, it might not even have been longer than three minutes but the weight of her mesmerising gaze made it seem like it had been days.

The spell was soon broken when the medieval princess cleared her throat and attempted to apologise,

" I am so sorry I did not see you there-", I cut her off before she could proceed,

" Don't worry about it, I should have seen where I was going but I guess," I began to rub the back of my neck awkwardly, " we are both at fault here."

She smiled sheepishly, brushing a loose strand of liquid night behind her ear. I looked ahead and saw that two other girls were standing there too, their mouths hanging open from their jaws; One in a medieval dress and the other in normal clothes; ah great I had not missed out on Halloween just yet. I attempted to ask the young lass that stood in front of me an odd but rather important question,

"Who are you?"

"Titania" at my confused expression she explained further, realising and blushing furiously at the notion that I had asked her who she was, not who she was playing ,

" Oh I am so sorry I am Yrene Jones, Feshmen year and I am playing the role of Queen Titania in the play....you know the one by Shakespeare...."

To save her from the discomfort I told her I understood but before I could say much else the voice of the drama teacher, Miss Pentaline, I assume, ricocheted from the stoned halls,

"JONES AND CARTIER WHERE HAVE YOU TWO BEEN! MY TWO MAIN LEADS, MISSING BACKSTAGE AND THE PLAY BEGINS IN FIVE MINUTES! HURRY UP YOU TWO! NOW DO NOT MAKE ME REGRET CHOOSING YOU BOTH INSTEAD OF SENIORS! OFF YOU GO!"

As they left I whispered to myself for a reason unbeknownst to me, ' A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
