Chapter 17: The final room

Ivy and Jorge reached there safe and sound too. Nonetheless, this was an individual task but still, I was moved by the way Jorge cared enough to drag Ivy up here, even though it sounds like violence. Ivy, who at first meet seemed to be that cool sort of cyberpunk girl who would always support me, now feels like a cold and arrogant person, like as if I've taken something of hers but then.

I know a lot more girls who simply get jealous and forget about you and spread rumors and disappear when you most need them and- I rather not discuss that here at this moment. I felt extremely proud of myself to be able to make it here, alone. But as I turned, I noticed that a few of the opponent players had made it too.

DANG IT! AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE SMARTEST PERSON HERE!

When the coast was clear (when Ivy and Jorge stopped bickering) I suggested that we carry on with teamwork. Jorge was up for it but Ivy was reluctant. Time was running out and we weren't going to waste it convincing her. But as I and Jorge started to move, she said that she'd come and help us although her face said otherwise.

We were walking along the tunnel. It seemed that once we were there, the outsiders couldn't see us. We walked for what felt like ages. Jorge was a very friendly person to be around. He knew a lot about robotics, most of which I didn't understand but still nodded to various things. Ivy stalked behind us sulking and I had a nasty feeling that she was going to stab me.

Finally, we appeared in another room, unlike the previous one. Our instructions said that it included hidden traps we should watch out for. I told them that I couldn't do it but they (excluding Ivy) said that it's instinctive nature that I possess in my code which would help me overcome them.

It was a regularly ascending room, almost like a hill. There were only five very steep pathways leading up to something that we couldn't see from our spot. We decided that we should take the same path but Ivy took her own.

Jorge went first. I put on my goggles, just in case we need them. I started off with a run. It was almost miraculous how fast I was going and how flexible my body was. There were cliche traps. Most you would see in movies. There were holes that emitted flames and holes through which arrows would shoot out. I tried to copy Jorge's moves but it was impossible not to see him as a blur. I made it halfway. I glanced above and I could distinctly make out some statue at the destination point.

The next hurdles were randomly opening spaces beneath our feet. I thought I could hear the faintest scream from someone. It was almost a relish, to feel someone suffer. I pushed that thought away and concentrated my fullest on the patterns of hurdles. Finally, I made it. Jorge was standing there, waiting for me.
