Chapte24: Sundae? Sundae!

Ivy informed me that we were here to see an old woman called Audra Cinser. We left our very expensive bike in the parking lot of a supermarket store. I was extremely concerned about their security, and it probably showed on my face too because Jorge had me assured that locals dared not touch anything bearing the "THUG DAWGS" emblem. It would be nothing less than suicide to try to steal an object with a skull on purple flame logo on it. The gang didn't really annoy or bully people. In one sense, we did own the town but had the decency to respect them.

We were now moving along a busy street now. Obviously, too crowded for bikes. We were now walking in a row. I in the middle, Jorge to my left, and Ivy to my right.

"Now, will you like to explain what you did back there?" I asked both of them threateningly.

"OH, you know, shortcut." Jorge said casually.

"I forgive you for the outburst," I said in a regal tone.

Ivy snorted. "It was his idea you know please forgive me your Majesty." she said.

That surely startled a laugh out of me. Ivy would be the last person I would ever expect to have humor. She was in a particularly good mood today. As if she had taken her 'cold person' mask off. Just like Jorge did. I couldn't help but wonder how indifferent they really were from humans

"So, where is this place where we would meet Audra?" I asked.

"Didn't Jorge tell you? That's an afternoon plan. We would eat ice cream first and do some other fun things first." Ivy said.

I felt pain hit me. I felt hurt. I felt left out. Why did it hurt? They had just forgotten to tell me? But it had already taken too long to move on from....

NEVER MIND THAT NOW! Jorge must've... I don't know what.

"I thought it would feel good to have a dessert surprise." Jorge said bracingly.

That felt like someone had inflated me. Like as if lights had lit up inside of me. I felt like he could be my best friend in the whole wide world even though I was barely sure if he was real-or if anything I was seeing was real.

We hustled inside the ice cream parlor. Took seats at the table with four chairs. We got a lot of stares, ranging from awe to slight tension. The waitress came in. Ivy volunteered to order.

"Would you like the sundae?" she asked me and not knowing the menu, I nodded. After the waitress was gone I asked Ivy: "You didn't tell her what flavors we wanted."

She grinned. "You get the flavors as like your personality." she said. The waitress came back. I was excited to see what flavor would I be. She only had one sundae. She set it in front of Jorge along with a small card. It was too odd for me to see it.

It was topped with a single cherry and nothing else. It had flavors all sort of mixed in. Blue, green, and grey.

Jorge picked up the card and read:

"Blue for wisdom and stability, and green for friendly and balance and grey for-" he stopped and then said, "It's too weird to say it so never mind". He tore it apart. _He really doesn't want anyone to see it..._ I thought. He waited for ours to arrive.

Mine was made of rainbow. All colors imaginable maybe. But that's bluffing. I didn't say it aloud what my card said. It was terrifyingly accurate though. But I'll tell you that in the end it said;

"MIX OF TOO MUCH"

Neither Jorge nor Ivy pushed it. I suspected heavily that it probably say too accurate than you would admit and it did get personal sometimes. Ivy's arrived seconds later, a lot like mine with thorny-looking chocolate chips sprinkled on top and some melting candy at the bottom.

Ignoring what the sundae said about us, we only cared that it was too tempting not to eat. So, we ate with relish, although new questions were starting to form in my mind

That was us leaving the parlor:
