Competition 1

The maths competition has finally started as the two representatives from each schools walked towards the different podium so as to get ready to answer their question when being called.

With each podium having their name, it didn't take them long as they all compose themselves to get started.

The competition was the same as usual like every other year. The questions were hundred in number, each student is to pick any number from one to hundred, then the question would be upload on the screen for them to start solving.

The first student that was called to start was a student from Kings Esteem school with him picking the number twelve as his question.

After displaying the question on the screen, they could all see another side of the screen showing a timer which quickly started moving with a countdown of a minute.

The student didn't waste time as he started solving for his answer as he knew he only have a minute to finish.

Having finished solving the question, he quickly call out his answer before the timer could get to zero.

"That's correct Master Gabriel, five marks to Kings Esteem school" announced one of the five judges.

The next person that was called was a female student from Exploit High Academy with her picking the number forty two.

Having given the question, she immediately started solving for it with no time to waste.

Just about two seconds left for the timer to come to an end, she quickly called out her answer even though she wasn't sure if it was correct.

"That's correct Miss Vivian, five marks to Exploit high academy " announced the judge as the five marks could now be seen on the scoreboard.

A long breathe of relief was what escape her mouth as she heard the words of the examiner.

After about twenty minutes, it finally got to Kiran turn. Hearing his name from the examiner, he opened his eyes which he shut since the moment he walked towards the podium.

Knowing the rules of the competition as it wasn't his first time participating in it, he quickly picked a number which was sixteen.

Seeing the question on the screen, he squinted his eyes as he couldn't read it properly because they seem blurry to his eyes.

Immediately giving him the question on the screen, the timer quickly started counting as it won't be waiting for anyone.

Taking a deep breathe and opening his eyes for the second time, he could finally see the question properly but the timer was now fifteen seconds gone.

Reading the question in his mind and knowing that he won't be able to solve it on time, he quickly started calculating it in his head.

Everyone looking at him couldn't help but jump to the conclusion that he has fail because the timer was just fifteen seconds left and he still haven't make a move to solve for it.

'Kiran, what are you doing?' Asked Abigail who was looking at him from three podium away from his.

Mr Andrew seeing this couldn't help but panic, he didn't even know when he started chewing on his fingers like a child.

'Kiran, what are you doing' said mr Andrew inwardly as he continue chewing on his fingers.

Just a second left for the timer to booze, Kiran opened his eyes and called an answer.

Even after hearing an answer from him, mr Andrew still couldn't relax as he was waiting to hear the words of the examiner. Even the examiner seems to be lost as his brain didn't fully process the answer.

"That's correct Master Kiran, five marks to Brilliance high" announced another of the judge as the first one still seem to be dumbfounded.

Hearing the words of the judge, mr Andrew breathe out in relieve as he pick a bottle of water and quickly started drinking.

'But this isn't your first time participating in this competition, so why do you look like the pressure is getting to you?' Asked mr Andrew inwardly as he Look at how sweaty and uncomfortable Kiran was.

Calling the next person, he picked his number from the screen. After seeing the question on the board, the student quickly started solving for it with his materials.

Having finished solving, he quickly call his answer as he could see that the timer was almost over.

"You did good master Fred, it pains me to say this, but you are eliminated, your answer is wrong" announced the judge.

One downside of this competition was that it was only a once trail, one failure from you would lead to you being eliminated and also a pressure for your partner.

Reaching Abigail turn, she took a deep breath before picking a number.

'I pray it should be a lucky number' prayed Abigail inwardly as the question showed on the screen.

Seeing the question, she didn't waste time as she started solving. Looking through her solving and her answer, she quickly call out her answer before the timer could hit zero.

"That's correct Miss Abigail, five marks to Excellence Star Academy" announced the judge.

Getting to another student turn, she picked her number before it was display on the screen.

Having solve the question, she called out her answer before the timer could reach zero.

"That's correct Miss Jane, five marks to Queen's royal academy" said the examiner.

Turning for the second time and reaching the turn of Lydia, she picked her number and waited for it to be displayed.

Seeing the question, she didn't waste time as she quickly started solving. Before the timer could get to fifteen seconds left, she quickly called out her answer.

Everyone on seeing that Lydia was through solving, they couldn't believe it as it was just unbelievable for her to finish this quickly.

Even the examiner was surprised too, but he quickly compose himself as he call out the results.

"That's correct Miss Lydia, additional five points to Brilliance High" said the examiner.

'Seems they weren't exaggerating at all' said Abigail to herself as she looked at Lydia.
