The elven army immediately followed the order. Order from the princess is absolute.
The elven army did not follow what the princess just said, just a moment ago, because that is not an order.
Instead, it is a request; there is no consequence if an elven soldier does not grant the princess's request, but disobeying an order is not an option.
If a soldier ever disobeyed an order, then that only means the elf the disobeyed it is not a soldier.
That's why the elves stopped all their prepared attacks; the mages canceled their magic from getting cast.
The soldiers are confused by the order, but following the order is the first thing a soldier needs to do.
After they all cancel their attacks, they all look at the princess, waiting for an order or their question to get answered.
Alvara also knows her soldier is confused, but she does not explain and instead gives another order.

The soldiers immediately move; their movement causes minor shaking on the earth.
