CHAPTER 18: I'm not a demon...I think

Planet Everest, Continent Gai: Zahey kingdom, green flower village

On top of a building in the village, David can be seen. He jumps into the sky at an incredible speed. His target is an archer in a white uniform belonging to the church of light. The man's eyes widen at David's foolish actions. The man uses the spell wind manipulation to fly but David just jumped straight at him. That is a stupid mistake in the eyes of the man. " Rain," the archer says as he activates his skill. " Swoosh!" the man smiles at his attack. There is no way David can dodge this attack.

As the arrows reach a hundred meters away from David. David creates a platform made of mana underneath his feet. He raises his hand in the direction f the arrows. " Swoosh!" within 0.1 seconds David fires 200 mana bullets. " Bang!, bang!" the arrows and mana bullets make contact. The arrows are countered but David remaining bullets head straight for the archer. " Wall of wind!" the archer calls out as a rotating sphere of wind appears around him just in time to block the bullets." Bang!, bang!" the bullets bombard the wall of wind furiously.

' Is this the mana bullet spell? How is it so powerful...' the archer thinks to himself only for his thoughts to be interrupted. Over 20 bullets make it through his wall of wind. " Aaah!" The man screams in slight pain as his armor blocks most of the damage. But some of the force of the attacks still passes through his armor. "Bastard you dare defile this land protected by her holiness," the archer says as the bullets stop hitting his shield. He pulls his bow and points his arrows at the place David was.

Once the wall of wind disperses the man realizes that his target is not where he thought he was. " Where are u looking at?" David's voice resounds above him. "How did he..." the archer thinks to himself as he looks up. " Boom!" only for a fist to make contact with his face. The man's body is sent flying downward. " Boom!" he crashes onto the middle of a road causing the creation of a crater. The NPCs and players alike all scatter in fear, not knowing what has happened. David slowly walks damn from the sky. Each time he raises his leg a mana platform appears beneath his feet supporting his body.

The practice of mana manipulation taught to him by Marko is proving to be very useful right now for David. With his already basic knowledge and ability to control mana. This allows him to the ability to use mana manipulation to a certain extent, especially because his mana manipulation is SSS ranked. David lands on the ground and looks at the man. As David receives this information he smiles in pride. Right now he realizes just how much of a benefit he gets from beings a platinum-grade creature. Humans are non-ranked creatures. Even the stats of a tier 3 human are soo little. If this man had been a tier 3 elf all David would have been able to do is run for his life. NPCs in AKO are stronger than players of the same level. Not only do they have the stats from leveling up. They also have the stats they acquired through years of training. NPCs can be 5 to 10 times stronger than a player of the same level.

The NPCs in the area all look at David and the church member in fear. All of them run away from the area due to fear. The players on the other hand stay still. They are simply shocked at what is happening in front of them. They think David and the archer are NPCs and they are waiting for an opportunity to gain any benefits. David had already put his character in a private mode. This means that most players won't be able to tell that he is a player apart from those with inspection-type skills and the fact that he still wearing the newbie clothes.

" Why did you attack me? I haven't offended the church in any way Explain yourself" David asks with a stern voice. David may have stronger stats than the archer but he knows that it will be really difficult to kill him. In AKO there is a system called tier suppression. If a player attacks an opponent of a higher tier their damage is reduced by 20% for each tier. David is still a tier 0 player. This means that all his damage will be reduced by 60%. This effect is something that only applies to players. For the native tier suppression only applies to magic and spirit energy.

" You filthy demon. You dare step foot onto this sacred land of our human territory. You may be incredibly powerful but you can't defeat me with such a weak tier," the archer says as he stands up as if nothing had happened. He lifts his bow at a fast speed and fires an arrow at David's face. Unfortunately for him, the ground beneath his feet seems to be unstable. One of his legs sinks into the ground causing him to completely miss David's head. David is full of curiosity by what the man has said." I am not a demon. I'm human, just look at me" David says.

He raises his arms and smiles for the man to feel at ease. Too bad for David his smile only exposed his sharp teeth. The man looks at David as if he was looking at the incarnation of stupidity. David felt his face heat up in embarrassment at the man's gaze. " Of course, you are not a demon. I am blind please accept my arrow as an apology gift," the archer called Jonathan says with sarcasm as he fires another arrow at David's face only for the same thing to repeat itself as the ground beneath him seems to give up carrying.

Jonathan blushes in shame at his actions. Seeing David's expression and that of the players around him. They all seem to be holding back their laughter. " Die demon!" Jonathan screams in rage as he fires arrows rapidly. Sadly the man just increased his embarrassment. Due to the unstable ground, Jonathan just couldn't get his balance and he kept missing. After 15 missed arrows. The players around couldn't hold back their laughter. " Hahaha! do you see this loser he can't even hit a non-moving target from 12 meters," player 1 says.

" Hahaha! is this what a tier 3 archer can do thank god I'm not an archer I would die from embarrassment," player 2 says. " Nooo! why did I choose to be an archer? I have to reset my account," player 3 says in shame. Hearing the words of the players around him Jonathan experienced the most shameful moment of his life, ever since he became a member of the church of light. " Do you need help?" David asks feeling bad for the guy. At this point, Jonathan has half his body buried in the ground, " Shut up! Mayhem arrow!" Jonathan releases a powers skill.

The arrows released are coated in lightning and light elemental mana. David simply tilts his head to the left side. The arrow passes his head and flies off into the distant sky. "How are you able to dodge a mayhem arrow from such a short distance," Jonathan says in confusion and shock. That skill is supposed to be one of the fastest tier 3 skills. The arrow would travel at a speed faster than that of sound and it won't cause a sonic boom. ' Now I get it. These people of the church of light have the skill of 'abyss detection'.

It allows you to sense anything that has abyss mana within a certain range. Since werewolves are a type of demon my body must be producing abyss elemental mana. Damn, why didn't I think of that?' David thinks to himself as he finally realizes why they think he is a demon. Only demons or other variant races of demons possess abyss mana. They have no defensive properties because he created them just to be a disguise. He noticed some players activating the record function of the system as a red blinking light appears above their heads. This light is only visible to players. Everything on him has been taken by David.

David would have no guilt if he killed the man. Just as players can't be killed in the game as they will infinitely respawn. The system has also allowed the native creatures of the trail world to be respawned if they are ever killed by a player. This function of the system makes AKO more challenging. Raiding monsters is not that easy once they learn how a player fights and they can make plans to counter players. Although they are loopholes in this function. NPCs can kill each other permanently and a player can kill an NCP permanently if they use true damage or through indirect means.

Like dropping a bolder on an NPC. As David places all his loot into his inventory. His ears and nose twitch. " Damn it, they are already here, It hasn't even been a minute. David runs at full speed toward the direction he believes the village exit is in. Just a few seconds after David left a group of twenty village guards appeared. They search in the area looking for the cause of all the disturbances. All they can see is the half-naked body of Jonathan. Within 10 seconds David has traveled more than 3 kilometers. He smiles in joy such speed is something he only ever dreamt of having.

David's expression suddenly changes as he stops in his tracks. 950 meters in front of him is standing proud and beautiful. A temple of the church of light. David immediately turns around and dashes in the opposite direction." Why am I so unlucky?... Oh yeah, I got jinxed by Alakshmi. Damn you, you sexy evil goddess. Why are you so hot I can't even get angry at you," David says out loud. " Since you have come to my home why don't you stay longer? " a gentle female voice resounds in David's ears. Before David can even blink he senses a distortion in the mana around him.

David had felt this type of distortion before. " Swoosh!" David is teleported. He suddenly finds himself in a big hall. 5 people clad in gold and white uniforms surround him. Standing on an elevated platform a beautiful priestess can be seen. Her appearance is nothing short of stunning.

Long black hair braided into a ponytail, blue eyes, and an hourglass figure. The woman's eyes glare at David with disgust. " Congratulations demon, you stand in the presence of Maria Astatine. 7th princess of Zahey and the 12th priestess of the church of light. Welcome to your execution" the priestess says. Her voice is gentle but cold as ice.

Author's note: Sorry to all readers about the inconsistent updates. I am currently very busy with school as tests are currently about to start and I have assignments to do. I can only promise 2 chapters a week. I will upload any extra chapters if the opportunity presents itself. Here is today's chapter, I will upload another chapter tomorrow. I have changed David's stat.

As I read my chapters I realized that I have not written his stats properly as some of the effects of his titles, skills, and traits are missing. David's traits will be explained in tomorrow's chapter. I ask for all of you to be understanding and I will try my best to update. God bless you all
