The next day came rather quickly, the maidens set out to the forest and when they got to their destination, they found him still unconscious which annoyed Brina because, she still wanted to slap it out of him.
Valerie just shook her head and proceed in attending to his wounds by applying some herbs on them and wrapped his exposed wounds with bandage.
"When is he going to wake up?" Brina asked for the fifth time which got Valerie fed up.
"I don't know Brina" Valerie answered while standing up. "Maybe tomorrow, a week, a month or year" she added with a smirk while Brina gaped at her.
" You sound like an old woman most of the times" Brina told her and Valerie giggled, placing her hand over her chest acting dramatically.
"Oh why, thank you Brina" she mocked.
*~*
The sound of the humming bird was what made woke him up from his deep slumber.
He groaned as his eyes fatter opened but his vision was a complete blur as a painful moan escaped his throat, and the bright sun light went into his eyes.
Slowly, his vision became clear, and the first thing he saw was the high mountains surrounding him, and the first thing he heard was the rushing of water from the little stream beside him.
He groaned again when another sharp pain went through him from his side. He bought his hand to his side, he touched a bandage wrapped around his stomach, he sighed and rested his head lazily on the rock behind him.
For a second he thought he was dead and had gone to hell.
Well, with all the souls he had killed in battle, he definitely would not make heaven. But, his surroundings told him otherwise. He was still alive on Earth and breathing, at least, for now.
What had happened to him?.
He couldn't remember and when he tired to recall the past events, he only succeed in inviting more pain and a very terrible headache.
It was obvious to him that someone had save him from seeing hell. He rested back trying to relax and wait for the person to come give him something that will reduce his pain.
His closed his eyes as he tried to sleep. But, when the heard of breaking of sticks and movement, he prefer to stay awake but his eyes remain shut.
Soon, the sound got closer and he was sure they were coming his direction. By the movement of feet, he could tell that there were two of them and they were women, and his thoughts were confirmed when he heard a laugh of an Angel and for a second, he forget that he was pretending to be asleep, he wanted to see who had such an amazing voice but, he was not ready to blow his cover.
Finally, they arrived at where he was and he could feel their presence in front of him.
"Not awake!" He heard an annoyed voice said.
No, definitely not the angel.
"When he is going to wake up, it has been a week" the same voice said and he realized that he had been unconscious for a whole week!.
"I told you, he will wake up when the time is right" an Angelic voice answered calmly.
Okay, now that was his angel.
"Let's just pour water on him" the first one suggested.
"Don't you dare Brina!" The angel warned and he could tell she was throwing daggers at her. " I am going to go pick some herb. Stay here, and don't do anything stupid, I will have your head" she added with a threat and he couldn't help but grin with satisfaction from the inside.
"Of course, your highness" the other one mock.
The voices stopped but movement continued.
He could tell that, his angel had left and for the fact that, he was with a crazy woman who had wanted to pour water on him did not ease his worry.
But, he couldn't help the little painful cough that escaped his lips. He cursed his luck that had befallen him. But, he was really tasty. He gave another cough which alert the young maiden as she matched over where he was and slowly, he opened his eyes.
"Finally, you are awake, we need some action around here" she said as she put both her hands on her waist with a grin playing on her face.
He looked at her and saw that she had long black hair that was braided with a grey scarf around her head and big grey eyes.
He opened his mouth to ask for water but he couldn't find his voice, he tried again but nothing came out.
"Are you trying to say something?" She asked looking down at him confused.
He opened his mouth again but ended up coughing to his dismay. It was painful for his dry throat but, this girl was clueless on what to do.
Brina stared down at the young man, she could tell that he was trying to say something but she couldn't understand what he wanted. She cursed herself for being useless at times like this. Valerie had to come back fast or he would die without her knowing it.
"I am sorry man, we have to wait for Val"
He nearly rolled his eyes. This girl was going to kill him without knowing it. He only hoped that the angel would come back soon and bring him out from his agony...
"Brina" he heard her voice called and he couldn't help but thank the heaven.
Soon, the angel came into view and his mouth opened in awe at the beautiful sight. She was really an angel with the most beautiful brown hair and bright blue eyes...which he found oddly familiar.
"He is awake!" His angel exclaimed happily but suddenly stopped and turned to look at her friend suspiciously. "What did you do?" She asked and he nearly laughed out at the look she was giving her.
Brina waved her hands in front of her face. " I didn't do anything!" She defeated herself.
"Has he said anything?" She asked Brina.
"He was coughing?" She asked rather than answering and he watched as his angel rolled her eyes and walk away.
She later came back with a bottle of water and he couldn't help but thank the heavens that the pretty one was smart...this time.
