Chapter 20: Wave

"Look at you" she admired his looks, and continued, "The color blue really suits you. You are looking so tasty like an ice cream,that I could actually lick you". Jason came out of the tent and on seeing this, he coughed.

Clara was startled, and she quickly let go of Micheal's arm, looking at both of them. She hated to admit it, but she was confused as to which one was Jason. "Jason!" she said to non of them in particular.

Jason smiled, "Yeah?" he said, and Clara panicked, "I... I really didn't know it wasn't you" she said.

"So you are saying that you can't differentiate between your boyfriend and another guy?" he asked her teasingly, but Clara didn't get the joke, instead she got annoyed.

"It's your fault. Why did you give him your tracksuit? How was I supposed to know that it wasn't you" she was almost yelling,

Jason amused, and he almost laughed. "You should know when I'm joking by now. I was just messing with you" he hugged her. "You were making sound like I was flirting with another guy on purpose" she said with her voice sounding like she was gonna cry.

Jason was surprised, "Are-are you crying?" he asked, and she quickly responded, "No!… I was just scared that you thought so low of me" she said.

"I am sorry if I made it sound that way. I was just kidding, I would never think that way of you" Jason assuredly her. Michael felt he was the one who needed to apologize, "I am the one who is to be sorry. I should have told you that I wasn't Jason, but it all happened so fast that I was short of words, and just stared at you like a dummy".

Clara ignored Micheal's apology, "It's okay Jace" she smiled at him, "let's go exercise"she said, and held his arm as they went, while Micheal trailed behind.

"Okay guys, let's go jogging like yesterday" the announcer said.

Most people around Micheal and Jason were admiring them, even some guys found themselves staring. The jogging started, and tomika spotted them, so she ran to Micheal.

"Good morning mike" she said and held his arm, "You totally disappeared yesterday" she complained. Micheal wasn't glad that she found him, but he forced a smile, "Good morning tomiks" he said.

Clara was displeased that tomika was trying to show off with Micheal, but she didn't know why she was boiling inside just from seeing her holding Michael's arm like that.

"Good morning Jason" she waved at Jason, smiling brightly. 'How did she know his name' Clara wondered, and she was heating up.

"Hey tomiks" Jason said and waved back. This made Clara almost burst, but she didn't want to embarrass herself before Tomika, so she jogged faster, but this was what Tomika wanted, so Tomika also jogged as fast as Clara, so that they were still beside each other.

The jogging soon ended, everyone had their morning bath, and most of the damaged tents were fixed, but Michael's own was yet to be fixed. Jason invited Micheal to have breakfast with him and Clara, which Clara didn't really have a problem with, but she didn't know Tomika would be tagging along.

The guys, including Tomika were busy enjoying the food, while Clara was having a hard time chewing her food, because she was busy shooting glares at Tomika.

Jason broke the silence, "So, are you two a couple?" the question he asked made Clara choke. "Careful with your food bae" he gave her a glass of water to drink.

Tomika laughed inwardly, while putting on a mocking face. "Well, if Micheal asks me out, I won't say no" she shamelessly said while smiling, but Micheal remained silent, which Jason kinda understood, or maybe he just thought he did understand.

Clara's nightmare finally came to an end, as Micheal and Tomika left when they were done with breakfast. "I think Micheal doesn't like Tomika, and she is forcing herself on him" Jason said and Clara who had been moody for a while finally laughed, "Really? You think so?" she asked.

"Why does it seem like you are pleased to hear that?" he asked playfully.

Clara coughed, "I am not pleased, I am just... Never mind, why do you think Micheal doesn't like her?" she asked curiously.

"I'm not sure if that's what the expression on his face meant, but that's the facial expression I do give, when I don't like something, or I feel forced to do something" Jason explained.

"Then he should go on and say it to her face, I don't even like her guts" Clara expressed her dislike in Tomika. "Not all guys have the heart to turn down a girl just like that. If I was in his shoes, I don't think I can do it... But maybe now I can, now that I have you" he completed his words with a smile.

"Maybe?" Clara asked, squinting her eyes at him. Jason laughed, "Okay, I meant now I'm sure I can".

Time went by, and it was time for some fun events. "Please may everyone get out here so we can have some fun!" the announcer said, and everyone rushed out, they couldn't wait to see what was waiting for them.

"As you all can see, on the sand over there are several surfing boards. So if you can't surf, I will advise that you back out and only watch them surf. For those who are stubborn, and would still surf despite the warnings, we have lifeguards present here to rescue you, but we do hope you would take our advice" he said in a pleading tone.

"Do you know how to surf?" Clara asked Jason. "Yeah, but I haven't tried it on an actual beach before, but gladly, I am a good swimmer" he answered.

"You can surf, but you haven't tried it on an actual beach before" she repeated what he had said, as if telling him that it didn't make any sense. "Then where did you try it?" she asked.

"I have watched lots of videos about surfing. It's pretty easy" he said. "Then go" Clara urged him, and Jason was surprised, "Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yeah, I will be just fine here" Clara assured him with a smile. "Kk, don't worry, you will be impressed by the skills I have learnt" he said before hastily stepping forward, and stood before a surfing board.

"Hey, can you surf?" Tomika asked Michael. "I haven't tried it before, but I have seen a lot of videos about it" he replied.

"And you can swim, right?" she asked again, and Michael said, "Yeah".

"Fair enough. I am a pretty good surfer myself, so let's go, you just have to follow my lead" she said as she pulled him forward, and they both stood before their respective surfing boards.

Clara saw that Michael and Tomika came forward, and she was feeling left out. Jason's words came ringing in her head, 'It's pretty easy'. "Surfing isn't that hard, and anyways, I can also swim" she made up her mind to join them, so she moved forward, and that got Jason worried about her.

"What are you trying to do?" he asked her worriedly. "What does it look like? I wanna surf" she replied without looking at him.

"Can you?" he asked. "Yeah duh, I just didn't feel like it before, but now I do, and besides I am a pretty good swimmer" she told him confidently.

"Okay surfers, get ready" the announcer said, and they all took their surfing boards, then went a little further into the ocean, waiting for a wave.

"We wait for a perfect wave to give us a balance, then we get on out boards" Tomika said to Michael. They didn't have to wait for a long time, before the wave finally came. It pushed them forward, and they all got on their boards.

Clara was watching their steps, and also overheard what Tomika had told Micheal, so she was getting it right, and was proud of herself. "It's really easy" she muttered under her breath excitedly.

Another wave was coming right towards them, and Tomika said to Michael, "Now, we are to wipe out" Clara heard her, but she was confused as to what she meant by that.

Jason saw her confusion, and he became worried for her, "Wipe out Clara, like this" he yelled, and showed her how to do it. Clara saw what he did, and immediately understood, but it was too late. The wave was already too close, so it swept her off her board, and right into the ocean.

On seeing this, Jason and Michael panicked, and shouted , "Clara!" they both jumped into the ocean immediately to save her. The lifeguards present also jumped in for the rescue, while the others who were watching were mumbling in fear and worry, especially the coordinators of the camp, as it would give them a bad name if things go wrong.
