Reluctantly, I released Piper and wiped away her tears. I wanted to assure her everything was going to be okay, that our plan would work, that she and her sisters would be freed from the blood oath their father had sworn, that Piper and I could be together. But I never got the chance. Nor was I so certain in our plan anymore.
Without the Pendragon Coven on our side, did we stand a chance of forcing the king to release them from the blood oath? Or had Piper been right earlier when she said this was a suicide mission? Either way, I didn't care. For her sake, I had to at least try. And I needed to tell everyone else that we might be on our own tonight.
"You should go," I said with a frown. "I'll be around. Watching."
Sniffling, she nodded. "I'll come find you as soon as Peyton decides if we'll stand with you or not."
I shoved my hands into my pockets and took a step back. "Okay."
