Cunning Daisy

It's been two weeks now since school's resumption from the summer breaks. There has not been any special happenings so far except the school bustling with it's usual activities and the fact that Lucretia and Philip has become more glued to each other than before which has made Daisy bitter with hatred, seeking ways to get back at Lucretia.

For the past weeks, she has been keeping an eye on Lucretia and her friends, looking out for the right moment to approach them without looking so obvious of her plans and today seems like just the perfect day since her birthday anniversary was already at the corner.

Thanks to the principal who called her to his office for a short meeting. She was stepping out of the office when the sight of Lucretia and her friends strolling towards the hallway got her attention. She smiled to herself, instinctively going after them. Halfway through the hall, a student approached Lucretia and her friends which made them stopped for her chat. Daisy also paused, watching them from a distance without their notice.

"Daisy..." a voice called, interrupting her.

She swiftly turned to the call.

"Any Luck?" Nikita queried as she neared her.

"Well...." she slightly turned her gaze to where Lucretia and her friends were and noticed that they were gone. She winced, "I just lost a chance."

Nikita glanced around, "They wouldn't have gone anywhere far from here. Come on, they might probably be heading to the library to complete Mr. Martins' assignment."

"I guess you're right. Let's get going."

Nikita cocked her head and they hurried off.

LIBRARY

"Lately, Philip and you have become so closely knit, are you sure there is nothing more to it?" Mimie asked as they placed their books on the table, taking a seat.

"Truth be told Mimie, I wish there could be something more but there isn't. He sees me only as a friend. Besides, he is still with Daisy, you know..."

She scoffed, "Whatever..., " she stood up, "I will be back soon. Got to get some books from the shelves."

Lucretia tilted her head whiles Crystal looked on as she sauntered off.

Crystal chuckled, slightly shaking her head and went back to her books. Lucretia with a winced also reached out for her book and immersed herself into it.

At that instant, Daisy and Nikita got to the library. They sent their eyes scanning through the room for Lucretia and her friends.

"Over there Daisy." nudged Nikita.

She followed Nikita's gaze and noticed them deeply immersed in their books in the far corner of the library.

"This is your chance Daisy. Make good use of it."

"Don't worry Niki, I've got this." she smirked and strolled off, followed by Nikita.

"Hi Lucretia.." said Daisy gleefully as she settled in the chair beside her. Both Lucretia and Crystal lifted their eyes from their books, glancing surprisingly at her.

"Hi...." she sceptically replied.

Daisy noticing the surprise look on their faces chuckled, "Hey..., why the serious faces? I'm just here as a friend. I want to apologize for all that have done against you."

Crystal and Lucretia on hearing this looked aghast at each other's face for some seconds then back to Daisy.

"Do you mean what you're saying?"

Daisy sighed, taking Lucretia's hands into hers. "I really mean what I'm saying." she uttered dully, "I'm truly sorry for everything."

Crystal swiftly glanced at Lucretia who sat in deep thoughts.

"Hey..." she nudged her, whispering in her ears."Do you believe her?"

Lucretia narrowed her eyes, taking a quick glance of Crystal's face. "Stop judging her Crystal. The expression on her face shows how sincere she is. Don't be rude." she whispered and turned back to Daisy, composing herself.

"Alright Daisy, I forgive you."

"So are we good now?"

"Yeah.." she smiled, "And about your birthday party, when is that?" she grinned.

Daisy's face instantly brightened up with a smile.

"Oh it's this Saturday."

"Alright, we will be there." she grinned at Crystal.

"Okay, then...see you on Saturday." she took a quick glance at Nikita, smiling satisfactorily. "Let's go Niki." she said as she rose from her seat.

Nikita cocked her head with a smile, " Sure, see you later Lucretia... " She gave a slight wave and they strolled off.

Just then, Mimie returned with her books, glancing at Crystal and Lucretia quizzically.

"Just saw Daisy and Nikita leaving here. What did they say?"

Crystal scoffed, "Can you believe that Daisy came here to apologize to Lucretia and also invite us to her birthday party?"

"What..? This is totally absurd Luc...Trust me, I don't think they are up to any good."

Lucretia sighed, "Stop being so judgemental Mimie. People do change you know...for instance, look at Philip."

"God...Luc..," exuded Crystal, rolling her eyes. "Be more realistic. Philip was your best friend for cry out loud. Think...." she scoffed, returning to her book.

"I'm agreeing with Crystal this time. I don't think they mean well."

"Enough of the nagging. Are you girls going or not?"

There was a subdued silence for a short while,

"Of course we are. We can't leave you by yourself. Especially with Daisy, she can be very cunning you know.." replied Mimie.

Lucretia's face instinctively flushed with a smile, "Thanks girls..., you guys are the best." she said, robbing their hand.

"Mm...." they titled their head with a smile and went back to their books.

************

The rest of school weeks passed by quickly and soon Saturday was here. The morning was so bright with it's aura feeling up the atmosphere.

Lucretia was still on bed enjoying her beautiful sleep when she felt a tap.

"Arise and shine sleepy head..."

She slowly opened her eyes to see her father sitting beside her.

"Dad...." she shrugged up, sitting upright.

"How is my sunshine?"he smiled.

"I'm good Dad..., no work today?"

"Yes dear..., Just some few paper works to complete at home. It's been a while since I spent some time with this princess over here." He curbed her face. "Am I right?"

She chuckled, "You sure are Dad..."

"Then..., how about you go freshen up and come down stairs."

She cocked her head and glided down the bed. "I will be down in no time."

"Alright dear, will wait for you down stairs."

"Okay Dad..." she replied as she hurried off to the washroom.

Mr. Gilbert looked on with a smile before walking out of the room.

Some few minutes later, she staggered out of the washroom to her wardrobe. She picked out a white top coupled with a blue jeans and laid them neatly on the bed.

She walked up to her dressing mirror and smeared some pomade on her skin. After that, she got into her outfit.

She looked herself up in the mirror and smiled before returning to her bed.

She picked up her phone which laid on the drawer beside her bed and dialed Philip's number. she listened on as she sauntered to the window, looking over at Philip's. After a some seconds of ringing, Philip answered.

"Hey..., what took you so long to answer?"

"Sorry Luc..., I was in the washroom."

"Alright, alright , what have you planned to get for Daisy for her birthday?"

"Well..., I don't know of anything yet. Any ideas?"

"Yeah..., that's the damn reason why I called anyway."

"Okay, so when are you up for it?"

"Well..." she mumbled, "I think 2pm will be okay. I will call Crystal and Mimie to tag along. They can also help."

"Okay, see you at 2 then."

"Okay, talk to you later. Bye..."

"Bye...." he replied and the line went dead.
