Awkward Attitude

They continued until they got to the path where they usually go their separate ways.

"Can I have my bag now" said Lucretia panting heavily from the ran

"Which part of I'm taking you home don't you understand, thick head,....?" uttered Philip teasingly, pricking Lucretia's forehead

"Phil...." exclaimed Lucretia slightly and followed him like a master and his dog to the house.

Lucretia slammed the door opened when they got to the house and dashed in, followed by Philip.

"Mum...., I'm home.." exclaimed Lucretia

"And guess who's with me" she hastily added

"I'm coming dear, you know I'm not good at guesses." replied Mrs. Angelica descending the stairs.

Lucretia chuckled at her mother's answer and dashed off to the kitchen.

"Oh...Philip..., it's been awhile. Where have you been? Or did you two fight?" questioned Mrs. Angelica curiously.

"No... mum, I..." just then, Lucretia returned from the kitchen with a glass of juice cutting into their conversation

"Mum...., I told you we didn't fight."

"Then what happened dear?" asked Mrs. Angelica, turning his attention to Philip

"I was caught up in a school assignments so I always had to leave early for school."

"oh...,I see..." replied Mrs. Angelica skeptically, nodding her head.

"I have to run now." he announced, standing up from his seat

"Not so fast block head..., I brought you juice. You have to drink before leaving else you'll have me to contend with." said Lucretia, handing him a glass of juice.

Mrs. Angelica looked on and chuckled

"I will you two to yourself. I will be upstairs. Philip, my regards to your parents." she uttered, leaving.

"Okay...mum..."

Within few minutes, Philip gurbed all his glass of juice.

"Satisfied..? I'm leaving now." he uttered, took his book and walked towards the door

"See you tomorrow block headed creature." exclaimed Lucretia after him

Philip, without a word slightly chuckled and left.

Lucretia took her bag and rushed off to her room. She opened the door, threw her bag on her study table and slammed herself on the bed. Just then, her phone binged with a message. She took the phone and beamed with smile on seeing who it was from.

MESSAGE

Jayden :Are you home now?

Lucretia : Yes, I am.

Jayden : Okay, see you in school tomorrow.

Lucretia : Sure.

Jayden : Byeee

Lucretia : Byeeee

Lucretia tossed her phone aside and moved over to her study table to work on her assignments.

It was 7pm, Lucretia sat in her room reading a novel when she heard a knock on her door.

"Lucretia dear..., can I come in?" called a voice from the door

"Sure...dad..." she exclaimed

Mr. Gilbert opened the door and stepped in. He moved over to her daughter's bed and sat beside her.

"What's up dad?" she questioned with a smile

"I don't have the chance to see you before leaving to work and after work for some time now so I'm here to make up for it." he uttered with a grin

"Uhm..." she nodded with a smile.

"So..., how has school been dear?"

"Nothing special dad..., just the normal school activities."

"Oh I see..." replied Mr. Gilbert as he listened with rapt attention to his daughter. They talked and talked for a while, laughing and giggling.

"It's late now dear.., you've to wake up early for school and so do I. You should catch some sleep now."

"Okay...dad.." she replied, pecked her dad on the cheeks and laid down to sleep.

Mr. Gilbert covered his daughter with the blanket and left to the door. He opened it and switched off the light.

"Goodnight dear..." he murmured and closed the door behind him.

***********

Lucretia sat in the library reading a book when someone suddenly closed the book before her.

"What the hell..." she said angrily lifting her eyes to face the culprit but suddenly stopped.

"oh great...." she said ironically rolling her eyes

"What now Daisy..?" she added going back to her book.

"Are you pretending not to know or you're just playing dumb with me?" she questioned

"Daisy..., don't you have anything better doing?" asked Lucretia quizzically

"I have Lucretia and that's what I'm doing now." she uttered furiously

Just then, the bell went off.

Lucretia stood from her seats and grabbed her books and bag

"I'm not in the mood for your funny jokes." said Lucretia sarcastically and dashed off.

Daisy looked on and gnashed in fury

"Let's go girls..." she uttered and stormed out with a friends tailing after.

Lucretia got to the class and met Mimie and Crystal waiting for her. She quickly dropped her back and they dashed off to the canteen.

They got to the canteen and their usual spot was taken so they tried to find another one.

"Over there.." uttered Mimie, pointing to the far corner of the canteen.

"It's okay.., let's go over." said Crystal

They went over and settled around the table.

"Mimie and I will go for our food." volunteered Lucretia.

"No Luc.., let me go with Mimie. You stay here." said Crystal as she stood from her seat and they left.

Lucretia sat alone wandering her eyes in the canteen when she saw Daisy and her friends sitting over one of the table. She looked over to them keenly, fighting the urge of pouring mayonnaise over their uniforms

"No.., you're are not like those bitches." a small voice reminded her.

She turned her attention away from them and saw Jayden standing at the far end of the canteen with his eyes scanning the hall for them. She raised her hands in a form of wave and beckoned him over.

"Oh.., you're here. where are the rest?" he asked as he took his seat beside her.

They sat down chatting and waiting for Mimie and Crystal when something suddenly caught Lucretia's attention.

She gave a careful look and it was Eugene, Mike and Philip approaching their table.

"Are they really coming over or I'm just seeing things." she thought to herself.

She was brought back to reality when they dropped their tray of food on the table.

"What are you guys doing here? You usually sit with Daisy and her friends, how come you are here now?" questioned Lucretia suspiciously

She raised a questionable eyebrow at Philip but he just shrugged.

"What are they up to?" she thought to herself.

"Huh..., this punk" she cursed underneath her breath

While Jayden and Lucretia waited for Mimie and Crystal, she eyed Philip suspiciously. She dared not to look around because she knew some people were definitely watching their table.

She murmured and sighed.

Mimie and Crystal stood scanning the hall for Lucretia but couldn't see her. Fortunately, Lucretia saw them and beckoned them over. They sighed in relief and quickly move over but they stopped in their tracks when they got to the table and looked quizzically at Lucretia.

Mimie sat beside Lucretia whiles Crystal sat opposite Eugene.

"What happened? Did you call them over? whispered Mimie in Lucretia's ear.

" Huh..., as if I will." replied Lucretia

"I didn't..." she replied coldly

Crystal looked at her baffled but did not say anything.

After that, they dug into their meals but there was an awkward silence.

"Hi..." said Jayden to Philip and his friends.

Eugene and Mike received him with a smile but Philip took a quick glance at him and ignored.

"How rude..., what's wrong with him. He could have at least replied with a smile?" thought Lucretia to herself starring vaguely at Philip

Philip and Jayden just starred at each other like they are having a serious conversation through their eyes.

Lucretia looked on confused

"Why are they starring at each other? It's like they are challenging or something. Or it's just me?" thought Lucretia.

She was about to say something to ease the tension between the two but Jayden cut in

"Are we still on this Saturday?" he questioned

"Sure..." replied Lucretia without a second thought

"Great..." uttered Jayden

Lucretia eyes wandered around but was surprised to meet Philip's questionable gaze at her.

"What..." she uttered

The rest turned to look at me puzzled.

"So you two are going on a date?" asked Philip ignoring the gaze from their friends.

"It's not a date, dump head....Mimie and Crystal are also coming along." answered Lucretia indifferently

"Since it's not a date, I guess I can come along." said Philip curiously only to my hearing

"What..? Why would you like to come along? Don't you have any meeting with Daisy this weekend?"

murmured Lucretia to him in a low tone enough for his ears only

"No.., it's on Friday evening." he replied swiftly

Lucretia sat silently for a while and sighed. Philip was wearing the biggest triumphant smile.

Both Lucretia and Philip knew that he had won

With a great sigh, he stood up from his seat and picked up his tray

"See you on Saturday" he murmured to Lucretia and turned to Mike and Eugene and nodded to the entrance. They followed with Philip leading.

"So Philip is joining us this Saturday?"asked Crystal

"Just as you heard girl..." replied Lucretia with a sigh and shrugged.
