A New Student

Lucretia turned to meet the sneers of the students in the canteen.

"sorry....." she said smiling sheepishly at the crowd, turning slowly to meet the gaze of her friends.

"Keep it down guys." she said with a sigh.

"What did you just say Lucretia?" asked Crystal bemused.

"Just what you heard guys. Daisy and Philip are dating." said Lucretia indifferently.

"How come Philip never told us?" asked Mike with a questionable look.

"Whatever, I need to leave to class now." replied Lucretia indifferently, dragged her tray from the table leaving.

"Hey...girl, let's go together." exclaimed Mimie

after Lucretia.

"See you guys later..." she hastily added, smiling back at Mike and Eugene as She and Crystal tailed after Lucretia.

Crystal and Mimie caught up with her half way through the corridor to their classroom.

"Are you okay?" asked Mimie as they neared her.

"Okay..? About what..?" asked Lucretia bemused.

"About Daisy and Philip." said Crystal.

"Sure...., that's what he wants and I'm his friend so I should be happy for him. Don't you think so? asked Lucretia expectantly.

" Yeah...." they reluctantly replied.

"I'm okay guys...." she assured with a grin.

Crystal and Mimie chuckled a little and nodded.

The rest of lesson hours passed peacefully with no special happenings.

The bell went off.

The students jumped happily from their desks laughing and giggling as they dashed out of the class in pairs or in a group of three.

Lucretia was still in her desks packing her books into her bag when she heard a voice called from behind. She turned to the voice and it was her friends.

"Will you be going together with Philip?" asked Mimie

Lucretia turned slowly to Philip's desk without his notice and saw him with Daisy. She sighed and turned back to her friends.

"I don't think so." she replied and stood up from her desk.

"So....., would you care going with us?" asked Crystal expectantly.

" Sure.., why not." she replied with a grin.

"Okay...., let's go." replied Mimie excitedly

"Okay..." she chuckled, took her bag and they dashed out of the class giggling at each other's jokes.

Philip's attention was drawn by their giggles. He glanced bluntly at Lucretia as they left the classroom.

"I'm sorry Luc..." he mumbled to himself.

"Did you say something?" asked Daisy with a smile.

"No..., can we go now?" he asked with a smile.

"Yes.." she answered with a grin, took her bag and held his hand as they walked out of the class.

"Mum..., I'm home...." said Lucretia as she entered through the door.

"How was school dear....?" asked her mother as she came from the back yard.

"Great...mum..." she replied as she neared her mum

"And how was Philip? I didn't see him the whole of today."

"Well...Uhm...he..."

"Is everything alright between you two?"asked Mrs Angelica, cutting in.

"Yeah...yeah...,mum..everything is alright." she hastily answered dashing off to her room.

"I will be in my room mum.." she added.

"Okay...dear..." she slowly replied, shrugged and left to the garden.

It's been weeks already since Daisy and Philip started going to school together. School has been peaceful without any new occurrences. Daisy and her friends has also left Lucretia alone for a while now after their confrontation in the locker room.

It was a beautiful and sunny day. The class looked chaotic with students chatting in groups and others throwing rolled paper at each other. Lucretia sat in her desk with her friends, her back facing the front of the class chatting and teasing each other.

"Attention....!" a voiced exclaimed.

The students quickly rushed to settle in their seats. Lucretia turned and it was Mad Lora, their homeroom teacher.

"Good morning ma'am" said the class in unison.

"Good morning class, today we have a new student." said Lora with a grin.

All the students were surprised by this news and murmured among themselves.

"Quiet down everyone, I know you're all curious to meet your new friend." she said expectantly.

The students quiet down with all eyes fixed on her.

"Come in...." she added, beckoning to some one standing outside the entrance of the class.

The whole class attention were fixed to the door, anxiously waiting. A young and elegant boy stepped into the class and took his stand beside the teacher. All the class murmured in bemusement.

"Introduce yourself..." said Lora, beckoning him to the front.

He went forward, eyes searching through the class and sighed.

"Hi..., I'm Jayden, a transfered student. Nice to meet you all and hope we'll be good friends and take care of each other. Thank you."

"Welcome..." replied the students in unison and applauded.

"Okay..., this is your new friend. Take care of him." she said with a smile.

"Lucretia.....?"called Lora

" Yes...ma'am" she answered a little alerted

"Is someone sitting beside you?" she asked

"No ma'am..." answered Lucretia with a grin.

"Okay..., go sit beside her." she said to Jayden beckoning him to Lucretia's direction.

"Thank you ma'am." he uttered with a grin and left to take his seat beside Lucretia.

"Hi..." he whispered to Lucretia when he sat beside her.

"Hi...." she replied back, smiling sheepishly.

Philip glanced over to their desk with a stray look.

Kriinngg

The bell went off.

"Okay...class, see you after lunch."

"Okay...Mrs Lora." they replied in unison.

Mrs. Lora took her things and left the class. Jayden smiled and turned his attention to Lucretia.

"Do you remember me?" he asked expectantly

"No....I....don't... think I have meet you anywhere before." she slowly answered looking clueless

"Really?" he questioned with a smile skeptically

"Yeah...." she slowly answered, a little confused.

"OK....,okay.., let me save you the stress. I was the person you bumped into few weeks back when you were getting off the bus."

Lucretia sat quietly for a while trying to remember then suddenly beamed with smiles.

"oh...it was you..? I'm so sorry, I didn't really pay attention that day. I was running late for school."

"Never mind..., so..., can we be friends?" he said with a grin.

"Sure...." she replied smiling.

Philip sat in his desk starring at them all those while.

"What are they talking about? Do they know each other?" he thought to himself, starring bluntly at them.
