Chapter -3

As they walked they were approached Ling xiao,

Xingyue: "Hm, Monitor, what happened?"

Ling Xiao: "You went to Mr. Tang?"

Xingyue : "Yes, I just came from there."

Ling Xiao: "I see. I wanted to ask about the science project."

Xingyue nodded, her eyes brightening at the mention of the project. "Ah, yes, the science project. We're still finalizing the details, but I think we're making good progress. Did you have any ideas you wanted to share?"

Ling Xiao pondered for a moment before replying, " Yes I have but is it convenient if we find a place and discuss the further details?"

Her expression changed " Not today, my uncle is going to pick me up, How about next time?

Ling Xiao smiled, " It's fine, then let me know when you are free".

As they were talking Cheng yan was watching them from far and feeling jealous and clenching the books in her hand then Cheng yan's friend Xiaoqing nudged Cheng yan, breaking her trance.

Xiaoqing: "Let's go. What are you staring at?"

Cheng yan: "Over there."

Xiaoqing followed her gaze to Ling Xiao, engaged in conversation with Xingyue and Yumei.

Xiaoqing: "Ah, it's Ling Xiao. Who's he talking to? Xingyue and Yumei? Why's he with them?"

Cheng yan: "How would I know?"

Xiaoqing: "Forget it. Let's go. Don't get worked up."

As they reached the school gate, Xingyue noticed a tall figure standing nearby—it was Haotian. In a moment of surprise, she was pushed by Cheng yan.

Yumei: "Hey, Cheng yan, what's gotten into you? Can't you see where you're going?"

Cheng yan: "Ah, sorry, I didn't mean to."

Yumei's frustration was evident, but Xingyue intervened, diffusing the tension.

Xingyue : "Let it go, she's blind".

Cheng yan and Xiaoqing hurried past, leaving them behind.

Haotian, who had observed the scene unfold, approached Xingyue.

Xingyue: "What are you doing here?"

Haotian: "Picking up the little kid."

Xingyue: "How did you know where my school is?"

Haotian: "Your uncle Wei Han tipped me off."

Xingyue glanced at Haotian, her brows furrowing slightly in confusion. "My uncle? Why? Didn't he say he was going to pick me up?"

Haotian adjusted his posture, his expression serious yet composed. "He called me this afternoon..."

In the afternoon scene, Haotian sat in his company office, surrounded by paperwork and the hum of business. His phone buzzed, and he swiftly answered, recognizing Wei Han's number.

"Brother, where are you?" Wei Han's voice crackled through the line.

"At the office, Wei Han. Busy as usual," Haotian replied, his tone curt.

Wei Han sighed audibly. "Ah, our CEO is always hard at work. Listen, I need a favor."

Haotian's brows furrowed. "I'm in the middle of something important, Wei Han. What do you need?"

"Just hear me out first," Wei Han pleaded. "I need you to pick up Xingyue from her school."

Haotian's eyes widened in surprise. "Xingyue? Why can't you do it? She's your niece, after all."

Wei Han's tone turned grave. "I have a new case on my hands and a crucial meeting. Recently, there have been incidents around her school, and it's not safe . Please, help me out this time."

Haotian sighed, rubbing his temples. "Fine. Which school is it?"

"Beijing No. 12 High School," Wei Han replied quickly.

"Got it," Haotian said, resigning to the request. "I'll take care of it."

With the conversation over, Haotian relayed the details to Xingyue, who listened intently, absorbing each word with a mixture of curiosity and understanding.

As Yumei standing beside Xingyue prepared her leave ,

Yumei - I'm leaving then Xingxing.

Xingyue: "Wait, you're leaving? How about I give you a ride?"

Yumei declined, "It's fine, my dad is going to pick me up."

Xingyue expressed concern before bidding her friend farewell.

Xingyue : "Okay then, be careful."

With a wave, Yumei headed off.

As they headed home, Haotian initiated a conversation.

Haotian: "How was your day?"

Xingyue: "It was good. Today Mr. Tang praised me for my assignment."

Haotian: "That's good to hear."

Xingyue: "Wang shushu, thanks for helping me with the assignment."

Haotian: "It's fine, little kid."Haotian glanced at Xingyue, noticing the slight growl of her stomach. "Are you hungry?" he asked, a soft smile playing on his lips.

Xingyue shook her head. "No, I'm not," she replied, but her stomach betrayed her words with an audible rumble.

Haotian chuckled at the sound. "Looks like I am, though. Let's grab something to eat," he suggested.

"Okay," Xingyue agreed as Haotian parked the car.

"What would you like?" Haotian inquired.

"Anything will be alright," Xingyue responded.

"Then wait here, I'll be right back," Haotian said before stepping out of the car.Haotian returned with the food and handed it to Xingyue. "Here, this is for you," he said with a gentle smile.

"Thanks, shushu," Xingyue replied gratefully.

Haotian nodded and started driving again. "Then I'll start driving," he announced, to which Xingyue simply nodded in agreement.

"Oh, I forgot to ask, where should I drop you? I mean, at your house or at your uncle's place?" Haotian inquired.

She replied, "There is no one at my house, so just drop me at my uncle's place."

"Okay, I got it," Haotian confirmed.

As they drove, Haotian struck up a conversation. "Are your parents always that busy?" he asked.

Xingyue sighed softly. "Yes, they both are doctors. That's why they are busy," she explained. "So I usually come to my uncle's place because there is no one to accompany me."

"You're the only child?" Haotian asked.

"Yeah," Xingyue confirmed. "But I don't mind. My friend Yumei, she has a little brother and always gets scolded because of him. She envies me for being the only child."

Haotian nodded in understanding. "I see," he remarked. "Just before at school, who was the girl who pushed you?"

"Cheng yan," Xingyue replied. "She's in my class."

While they conversed, Haotian's phone rang, and it was on speaker. It was his assistant, Mr. Lin, reminding him about a meeting.

Haotian assured assistant Lin that he would be on time before ending the call. Xingyue looked at him with concern and asked about the meeting.

Haotian explained, "Yeah, with a foreign investor."

Concerned, Xingyue suggested, "Then how about you drop me here, and I'll take a bus?"

Haotian reassured her, "It's fine, don't worry."

As they continued, Xingyue suddenly asked, "Have you heard about WH group?"

Haotian responded, "Of course. Why are you asking?"

Xingyue revealed, "Then do you know who the CEO of that company is?"

Haotian hesitated before responding, "I'm not sure. How about you search online?"

Xingyue did just that and was shocked by what she found. "Oh, I found it. It says Wang Haotian... What?" she exclaimed, looking at him in disbelief. "It's you."

Haotian smiled sheepishly. "Xingyue, why are you surprised?" he asked.

Xingyue was taken aback. "What do you mean you never told me that?" she exclaimed.

Haotian apologized, "Ah, I thought Wei Han told you. Sorry, I forgot."

Xingyue whispered to herself, "That old man, he always forgets important things. Just wait and see."

"Ah, I see," Xingyue replied aloud.

Haotian pulled over at the apartment building and noticed Xingyue struggling with her seat belt. "What happened? Let me help you," he offered, moving closer to her.

Xingyue's heart raced as Haotian helped her with the seat belt. "Okay, shushu, thanks for today, sending me back, and sorry for bothering you," she said, feeling flustered.

Haotian gently stroked her head and smiled. "Little kid, you didn't bother me, it's fine. Go ahead, don't forget to eat your food and lock the door properly," he advised.

"I got it," Xingyue replied, stepping out of the car.

Haotian rolled down the window and added, "And if you have any problems with your homework, call me after 7 p.m."

"Thanks," Xingyue replied gratefully.

"Then I'm leaving. Be careful. Bye-bye," Haotian bid her farewell before driving away.

After entering the apartment, Xingyue placed her bag on the sofa in the living room and made her way to the kitchen, where she poured herself a glass of water.

Just then, her phone rang, displaying "Mom❤" on the screen. She quickly answered the call.

"Hello Xiaoyue, how are you doing lately?" her mom greeted.

"I'm fine, mom. I'm missing you," Xingyue replied warmly.

"I'm missing you too. Have you reached home?" her mom inquired.

"Yeah, just now," Xingyue confirmed.

"Okay. Today, your class teacher called me," her mom informed her.

"Aah! What did he say to you?" Xingyue asked nervously.

"He was praising you and said if you keep it up, you will score good marks this semester," her mom relayed.

"Hmm, I'll work hard," Xingyue promised.

"Hey, he said you told him that your uncle helped with the work. Which uncle? Han shushu?" her mom questioned.

"No, not him. It was Wang shushu," Xingyue clarified.

"Wang shushu? Who is he?" her mom inquired further.

"He's Wang Haotian," Xingyue explained.

"Oh, I remember. Your uncle's friend, right?" her mom recalled.

"Yes, that's him," Xingyue confirmed.

"How do you know him?" her mom asked with curiosity.

"Well, Han uncle was supposed to help me, but he ditched me at the last moment, saying he had a meeting. At that time, Wang shushu was also there, so he asked him to help me," Xingyue explained.

"Oh, I see. That's good then. I should thank him one day," her mom remarked.

"Hmm," Xingyue agreed. "And when are you and dad coming back?"

"I'm not sure, maybe next week," her mom replied.

"Okay," Xingyue acknowledged.

"Xingxing, mom has to go. Your dad and I have a surgery, so I'll call you later. Take care of yourself," her mom said with concern.

"Hmm, bye-bye," Xingyue bid farewell before ending the call.

As she put her phone aside, a WeChat notification popped up from Wang Haotian.

💬 Haotian: Hey kid, don't forget to eat your food and rest for some time.

💬 Xingyue: Okay, I got it.

Curious, she clicked on his profile and noticed that he had never posted any moments.

Xingyue thought to herself, "This person has never posted any moments... Boring!!"

She then went to heat up her food in the microwave and grabbed a cold drink to have with her meal.

Before eating, she took a photo of her food and posted it on her WeChat moments.

Meanwhile, Haotian, on his way back to his company, was waiting for the signal to turn green when his phone vibrated.

He checked his phone and opened Xingyue's WeChat moments, where she had posted a photo of the food he brought for her.

A smile formed on his lips as he glanced at her profile and whispered to himself, "This little kid is kind of cute." With that, he resumed driving.

Xingyue went to bring her laptop so that she could watch drama while eating her food.

As she finished her meal, she thought to herself, "Hmm, I'm full."

After washing the dishes, she felt sleepy and checked the time on her phone. It was almost 6 p.m.

She said to herself, "Let's get some sleep."

As the clock struck 8:30 p.m., Xingyue was sleeping soundly when her phone rang, displaying " Uncle Wang ."

"Hello? You haven't woken up yet?" Haotian's voice came through.

"Yeah, I was supposed to take a nap, but I ended up sleeping for a long time," she replied groggily.

Haotian chuckled. "Little kid must be tired?"

"Don't call me little kid. I'm not a kid. I have a name, okay?" Xingyue protested.

"Alright," Haotian conceded.

Meanwhile, the doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation.

"Open the door," Haotian instructed.

Xingyue, still half-asleep, complied. She found a deliveryman standing at the door.

"Hello, it's your food delivery," the man said.

"But I didn't order any food," she protested.

Haotian's voice came through the phone again. "Take it. I ordered it."

"Ah, okay," Xingyue said, accepting the food and thanking the deliveryman.

Haotian glanced at Wei Han and then back to Xingyue. "Have dinner. Today your uncle is not coming home; he is with me. We have some things to discuss."

"He is with you? Okay, then," she responded.

"Yeah, after dinner, start doing your work. If you have any problems, call me anytime," Haotian instructed.

"Okay, thanks, shushu," Xingyue replied.

"I'll hang up now," Haotian said before ending the call.

As the call ended, Wei Han, who was with Haotian in the office, chimed in.

"Hey, Wang Haotian, when did you start caring about my niece that much, hmm?" Wei Han teased.

Haotian shot him a look. "Go away. Ask yourself who was the one who said he was busy and asked for help. So now I have to take responsibility. I'm not irresponsible like you."

"Hey, who are you calling irresponsible?" Wei Han retorted, but he backed down when Haotian gave him a stern look.

"Fine, you won. But I didn't do it on purpose," Wei Han insisted.

Haotian sighed. "Yeah, I know. You don't have to explain. Let's stop now and discuss the work."
