The person in the shadows

After a few minutes, all that doctor Ed could hear was the sound of the motorcycle. He was still in shock, he couldn't stand from where he was, he just closed his eyes and slept for some minutes. Later he then woke up, gathered the courage to stand up, and began to look around. He checked his cameras but it looked like they had stopped working a while ago and the intruder wasn't recorded at all. He checked his doors and there was no sign of a break-in, this gave him some chills. He thought of ignoring the intruder's warning by informing the police about the break-in but then he figured that he had not enough information. He tried to remember the motorcycle's number plate and he realized that he didn't see any. The other party was so careful and didn't seem to have left any prints, he knew her name but her surname he did not, even where she lived, he didn't. Even though he wanted to connect with her through the previous events and me(Tasha) but just the thought of the guys in black who came to the hospital sent chills down his spine. He then realized that his only option was to be obedient and do as he was told because the people, he was dealing with didn't seem to be simple.

On the other hand, Ghost sped her motorbike, although the place she was going to was a bit far, she didn't take too much time since she had to make use of shortcut routes. She reached home and found Anne sitting in the lounge and the lights in the room were so dim, such that she couldn't see the other person's face properly. She was sitting on one of the small couches leaning on it and looking up to the ceiling. Ghost could hear her breathing so heavily like one who has been crying for so long. Ghost then decided to sit on the couch that was opposite Anne's so that she can give herself time to read the atmosphere. There was silence for almost 30 minutes then later Anne spoke.

"Here I am again in the mountains surrounded by forests and the damned color green. (Chuckling) What a wonderful way of reminding myself about what happened in the past. I wish I could get over this or even forget what happened back then but the more I try the more painful it is. But how can I huh (sniffing) especially in times like these? I thought I had a chance when I rescued Tasha. I had seen the child in me, I was lost too at some point and didn't know where to go and who to turn to. She was the same and I wanted to give her a chance, to depend on herself and be free, which is why I even taught her to fight and got her a job at Lizzie's company. But how could I be stupid to just leave her without proper protection, I know I didn't want her to know anything about Midnight, I wanted her to leave a simple and quiet life, but how could I forget that once she got acquainted with me her life was already in danger? Have you ever thought of what would happen if Tasha dies Ghost?"

Ghost didn't answer, she knew what was happening, and no matter how correct her answer would be it might be wrong in the other party's ears. There was silence for about an hour and then Anne was the one to dismiss them.

"It's late, let's talk tomorrow," she said standing to leave for her room.

"Okay boss," said Ghost as she left for her room too.

The following morning by 7 am, Ghost was done tidying the whole house and she was almost done making breakfast. At 8 am Anne came into the kitchen well dressed and looking fresh.

"The food smells so good, I can't wait to have some," said Anne sitting on one of the kitchen chairs.

"Good morning boss…"

"Today, I am not boss, it's Anne your cousin."

"Okay, morning Anne…"

"Morning Ghost, did you sleep well?"

"Yeah, you?"

"I did."

"Very well, I am almost done preparing food, you may have a glass of milk for now," she said handing her a half glass of milk.

(With her tongue out) "Bleh…" She said wagging her head in disagreement.

"Okay then let me finish then we will eat."

Ghost went on and finished cooking, then they sat together and began to eat.

"Anne," said Ghost stopping what she was doing and looking at her cousin.

"Mmh," said Anne without lifting her head and still focusing on the food.

"I know it has been hard for you for all these years, from the day when you were almost beaten to death, to the day you decided to walk this path up until now. I know and understand the burdens you carry as a leader also, and I know how you feel each time you come to this place. I just want you not to forget that I am always here for you, I might not be the best person but I got you. Also, if you ever feel like quitting, nobody is going to blame you. You have helped a lot of people already and I am sure they will also help others, you can retire and just be there to assist in difficult times."

"Hehehe Ghost, are you asking me to retire so that I can be your assistant, you can't wait to order me around right? Anyway, I get what you are saying, but although it's hard I take everything as a reminder whenever I feel like giving up those invisible wounds keeps me level-headed. These forests and the color green are always a reminder that I have some unfinished business to do. As for my retirement, we will talk about it once Tasha gets back on her feet," said Anne without any form of regret or looking drained.

"I'm just worried about you, and I do not mean to replace you, I am just glad you are doing well," said Ghost as she proceeded to clear the table.

After the meal and tidying, they all set down and began to strategize.

"Ghost how is everything as of today?" Asked Anne sitting on a reclining couch, with her legs leveled a bit up.

"The enemies haven't taken any action yet but according to my analysis they are going to make a move sooner than expected," said Ghost whilst sitting on the couch that was in front of the one that Anne was sitting on.

"Go on I am listening, " said Anne.

"The day that Doctor Ed took over, he said that Scar was panicking which means things didn't go as they had planned. I am sure they didn't expect things to be noticed sooner which means they are likely going to go into hiding or even leave the country."

"Have you got any information about those people who were involved in the hospital incident?"

"Yes boss, please give me a minute," said Ghost leaving for her room and she came back with a big brown envelope in her hand.

(Sitting down) "Kali brought this earlier when you were still in bed, I have checked all the contents inside and everything we need (tapping the envelope) is in here."

"Go on and brief me then."

"The guy who changed Tasha's blood bag his name is Xavier Wood AKA X, he is into selling almost all drugs, which is what he does for a living. He is 25 years old; he has brown eyes, he is 5'6 tall, he has curly hair, and has got fair skin. He stays at number 6 leeway street, close way road. His parents are Mr. Richard and Mrs. Margret Wood and they are in another province. He likes having food in restaurants and other places where he can do his business without anyone who is not involved noticing, he goes for a jog every day at 6 am. He is not married but he has got a girlfriend."

"How is X related to Scar?" Asked Anne.

"That is the weird part, from what Kali collected they had no relations before the incident. It seems they only connected to plan and execute the past events."

"Meaning there is another person behind this, how interesting," said Anne with a smile and nodding her head 3 times.

"My thoughts too. Anyway, the guy who stole the blood bags, his name is Alfred Mills. He is 28 years old, 5'5 tall, with dark brown eyes, a light complexion, and short black hair. He is also a dealer, any business that has to with money he does it without any hesitation. He stays at 62 Almond Street Michael's Road. He is not yet married and has no girlfriend; he likes having food at Cherry's restaurant and he goes to Iron gym close to his place at 9 am."

"There is no information about his family?" Asked Anne

"None," said Ghost

"Just as expected of a dealer, is that all?"

"From the information, Alfre and X know each other," said Ghost.

"Hehehehe, this is amazing, so which means these two were hired by someone who is Tasha's enemy. This person knows Scar very well and they might have agreed to work together because of one common thing and that is to eliminate Tasha. X and Alfred were doing this all for money. Now what is cracking my head right now is who is the person in the shadows?"

"I am suspecting Marble," said Ghost

"That could make sense but then Marble couldn't be rich to an extent of hiring people like X and Alfred."

"Then what if there is someone backing her behind?" Asked Ghost.

"That also makes sense, you may proceed."

"The nurse who helped with the report is Maya Gains, 5'2 tall, she has hazel eyes, and long curly blonde hair. She has been working at Francis hospital for more than 10 years. She agreed to be acquainted with Scar because he found out that she and another nurse from the dispensary were stealing drugs and selling them on the black market. She stays at number 32 Adam Street, Kenneth Road. She doesn't do many activities, she spends most of her time home with her two kids, she is divorced and her parents are late."

"Okay that's it, for now, you may brief me more later, since you don't like the sight of blood I need you to delegate something to Danger (She is at par with Ghost when It comes to skills meaning when Ghost cannot do a mission sending Danger makes no difference). Tell her to give Stars to Maya, she has to warn her never to do any shady businesses in the future, also she has to make her just peep into the entrance of hell but don't make her die. I don't want her kids to become orphans. (Sounding disappointed) A mother who likes to play dirty, how brave, tell Danger not to mess up." She said closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.

"Won't that alert the enemy if Maya happens to speak about it?"

"Well, that is exactly what I want, that way we might get to know who the person in the shadows is, and also that might send a message to Ed in case he thought you were pulling his leg last night."

"That is killing many birds with one stone, okay on it boss," said Ghost as she left to ring Danger on an untraceable phone.
