In the apartment, Ai Tutu sat next to Mo Fan with a mischievous look and asked, "Tomorrow's the start of your challenge week. Are you ready, big boss?"
"What's there to prepare for?" Mo Fan replied nonchalantly.
Ai Tutu looked at him, exasperated. "Do you even know how many people want to beat you up?"
Mo Fan shrugged, "It's not my first time getting ganged up on."
Ai Tutu shook her head. "Back at the junior campus, you had the advantage with your Commander Level Flame Wolf. But things are different at the main campus! You're broke and barely have any good equipment. Sure, your dual-element abilities give you an edge, but once people know what you can do, they'll use defensive magic tools to counter your fire and lightning attacks. Then you'll be in big trouble!"
She grinned, adding, "Maybe you should just marry into the Mu family. They'd probably give you a full set of top-tier magical gear for free, considering your fame now."
Mo Fan glanced at Mu Nu Jiao, who was standing by the balcony, and smirked. "If the Mu family would let me marry Mu Nu Jiao, I wouldn't mind being their son-in-law."
Mu Nu Jiao turned, her face slightly flushed, and shot Ai Tutu a glare. "Stop joking! Who'd want someone who's always causing trouble like him? He'd ruin the family's reputation!"
Ai Tutu leaned closer to Mo Fan and whispered with a sly smile, "Big boss, did you notice? Ever since you came back, Mu Nu Jiao keeps teasing you. She never used to do that to any other guy. If she's not genuinely annoyed with you, then maybe… she's starting to like you!"
Mo Fan nodded in agreement, noticing that Mu Nu Jiao didn't deny the teasing. Her cheeks turned even redder, and she turned away, avoiding the conversation.
The next day, Challenge Week began. The students of the Fire department were ready, eager to teach Mo Fan a lesson for insulting them as weaklings. The whole department gathered in the grand hall, their eyes frequently glancing at Mo Fan. Surprisingly, he had shown up despite knowing how many people wanted to fight him.
Mo Fan, however, didn't care about their hostility. Numbers didn't matter to him. He was confident in taking them down one by one, proving the gap in their strength.
He calmly sat behind Huang Xingli and Ding Yumian. Huang Xingli turned and looked at him in surprise. "No wonder you're so cocky. I heard you beat all the freshmen at the junior campus."
"But," she continued, "the opponents you're going to face now aren't novices who haven't even mastered star mapping. They're experienced fire mages, each one a specialist in their element. Your magic wolf won't be enough to win this time."
Mo Fan glanced at her and replied, "We've only met twice. You don't need to be so concerned about me."
That comment shut her up instantly.
On stage, the instructor, Wei Rong, had already spotted Mo Fan in the crowd. He smiled, eager to see this arrogant student finally brought down a notch. "I have the challenge list here." Wei Rong announced. "Let's not waste any time. We'll begin immediately."
He scanned the list, smirking as he saw the sheer number of challengers. "Mo Fan, ranked 100th, has 231 challengers today. If you come up here and apologize, write a reflection letter, and apologize to all the students, I might let this slide since you're new to the institute."
"No need." Mo Fan responded bluntly.
Wei Rong expected that answer. "Alright, first challenger: Zhang Youhe, ranked 736th."
As Wei Rong called out Zhang's name, Mo Fan calmly walked toward the large arena, which was the size of a football field and covered in fresh green grass. A young man with a crooked nose approached from the other side, a wide grin on his face as he looked around at the spectators, feeling like the luckiest person for getting the first shot at Mo Fan.
"You have no idea how many people are jealous of you. The resources you got so easily are things we've fought tooth and nail for. You'd better hand them over, or else you'll be paying a hefty hospital bill." Zhang Youhe sneered.
Wei Rong added fuel to the fire. "Mo Fan, if you can't even beat Zhang Youhe, who's ranked 736th, you'd better follow my advice and apologize. I won't tolerate useless students in my institute."
"Can we start now?" Mo Fan asked, unfazed.
Wei Rong was irritated by his cockiness, but restrained himself. "Fine. Begin!"
