“I’ll try to find out how long it’ll be till the trial. I don’t want to hide for too long. But maybe we can go someplace for a little while, while the police are working.” Evan doesn’t want to give up his life, being able to see his friends, doing research, but if he gets killed, he’ll never do those things again.

“Good. Just smelling your blood and knowing you were hurt makes me want to tear out someone’s throat,” Rene growls.

“You don’t have to hurt anyone. I’m safe for now. No one’s going to hurt me here in the hospital. They have security. So you need to relax as much as you can, rest and get well. The easier you take it, the sooner you can.”

“Oh, shit,” Rene curses suddenly.

“What?” Evan asks.

“They asked for my details when I got here, name, next of kin, and insurance information, all that,” Rene says.

“Yeah, that’s standard practice,” Evan shrugs.
