Chapter 41

“There’s a man in your town who’s had contact with some of the children. He may have even had contact with all of them. We’re not sure. I don’t want to accuse someone and have people hunting them down if they’re innocent, but we need to look into a man the children called Mr. Socks.”

“I know the name. Rene mentioned it on the phone, and I started looking into him. He was born here, left for college, came back when his parents passed in a car accident. He lives in their home, alone. He’s never committed a crime or hurt anyone, let alone a child,” Damon says doubtfully.

“What did he study?” Evan asks. He wants to know if Mr. Socks has a medical background, if he would even have the knowledge to make the kittens sick. Would he have the access to the components he needed? If not, then more than one person could be involved.

“Let me check.” Damon opens up a laptop and starts looking for the information they want.
