Chapter 16

“Morning,” Evan says, because at least one of them can be polite.

“Damon sent the information we need. I have a list of all the Felis who’ve left town and had contact with humans. There are fifteen Felis on the list, and none of them have sick children,” Rene says. No hello. No sign he even remembers what happened between them last night. Well, Evan can do that too.

“They still might have had contact with the sick kids. We need to ask them. Can you take me to them first?” Evan asks.

“It’ll take a while, but if you think it’ll help the kittens.” Rene shrugs.

“Let’s start now, then. I’m ready,” Evan says, standing up.

“Okay, but don’t expect a warm welcome at any of these homes,” Rene warns him as they both head for the door.

“I know. No one likes humans.”

“That’s right,” Rene grumbles. They walk over to his car, and Rene lets them both in.

“So, tell me about the people we’re going to see,” Evan says.
