Chapter 03: Awakening(02)

'Wait… something's off…'

He looked around. He could 'see' everything. He could sense everything out for miles in every direction. That wasn't the oddest thing though. He had been warned that his senses would be heightened. Though the extent was much more than he expected.

'I can sense cosmic energy. That's normal… Hmm… Maybe this is what Grandma and Fujin were talking about when they mentioned that sensing the air lets them see everything around them.'

No, the oddest thing was the fact that nothing was moving. The smoke from his bed just floated in place, the ventilation fans were still, the generators were still, even the insects in the area outside the bunker were frozen in mid-air. Also, when he seriously concentrated he could sense the light move if he paid attention long enough.

'What in the world is going on? She said that my perception speed would increase but there's no way…'

Kai went to take a step towards the closet and the floor gave out under his foot, crushed into a fine powder that slowly floated up into the air and then just stayed there.

He slowly raised his foot.

'Ok…. Move super slow. Noted…'

He then tried to drop back to sit on his bed, only to be left floating in mid air.

'Right… Super fast perception. Wait, how am I even breathing? Ok… I need to calm down and focus.'

Kai brought his legs up slowly, moving his still floating body into the lotus position. He then closed his eyes.

'Aaannnnd, I can still sense everything. Closing my eyes had absolutely zero effect. Which means, I'm not actually seeing with my eyes…'

He opened his eyes back up.

'This may take a while to get used to…'

'Gotta keep at it till I figure this out. I at least have to figure out how to slow myself down…'

With that thought he closed his eyes trying to focus his senses towards his body.

'Oh good. At least this is like they said it would be. I can feel the… Why is my body absorbing four kinds of energy?'

'OK. Ok… we've got lightning that's the pale blue electricity looking flow of energy. Check…'

'Wind energy the silver flow. Check…'

'Mystery energy number one is the white flow. Then this dark blue flow I'll just call that number two for now. Hmmm…'

'Let's see if I can move any of it.'

He then attempted to have the energy move. Kai quickly figured out that he could blend some of the energy together.

'So I can blend the white energy in with either lightning or wind and same goes for the dark blue.'

'The white and blue energy both make the wind easier to manipulate. Well that's a no brainer then…'

'Neither one seems to mess with manipulating the lightning either so that's good at least. They are both a pain to move by themselves though.'

Kai continued to experiment with the mystery energies, attempting to figure out what element they were and how to control them.

0.01 nanoseconds later

Kai fell onto his bed as the room filled with streaks of superheated plasma, the desk transformed into powdered rust, and several golf ball size holes appeared on the ceiling with singe marks at their edges and the entire room was painted black as the paint was turned to carbon.

He raised his hand and white electric arcs shot between his outstretched fingers while space seemed to bend slightly around his hand.

'That took forever… It felt like years. On the plus side I'm pretty sure I figured out what the mystery energies are at least. If I'm right then…. Wait, wait. No.'

'If comic books have taught me anything, it's that you shouldn't play around all willy nilly with time or space manipulation.'

'Time travel is a definite NOPE! Not even trying that freaking ever. That's all I need. Yeah, let's go screw with time and unmake myself… Or worse; I could get stuck like I was forever, where every second seems like a billion years.'

'Also I definitely don't want to get stuck in a time loop.'

'Definitely don't want to teleport into a wall, or the planet...or a blackhole'.

'Wait, are timeholes a thing?'

'So I somehow awakened probably the most dangerous powers ever and they are just as dangerous for me.'

'Great…'

'OK. So the dark blue energy seems to be space and the white is apparently temporal energy. At least I figured out how to slow down my…'

His eyes, now a pale silver. Roamed around the room.

'Dang it… everything's still moving super slow. At least it's all moving though.'

Kai then slowly stood up using wind and space energy to keep him from affecting the air around him.

'Cool… Glad that worked. Thank you Mr. Alcubierre.'

'I should head to the gym and see if I can figure out how to use my powers better before I end up… Well, dead.'

He stepped towards the blast door and carefully grabbed and turned the steel wheel. It crumpled as if it was made of paper. Kai tried pushing open the door and it was launched across the hall smashing through the door and room on the other side. It was left embedded in the wall on the opposite side of the neighboring sleeping quarters.

'Grandma is going to be really mad when she sees this… OK. Slow and steady. I got super strength and superspeed. Everything is rice paper.'

'How do the other S+ ranks even do anything without breaking everything?'

'Riiiight… That's what the extra 10 days are for…'

Kai slowly made his way to the gymnasium… At mach 4.
