Chapter 01: The Awakening(03)

Lina smiled at her mother. "Oh good you're here already. I'm glad you were able to make it. Well I guess that means I won't have to wait.".

While looking down at her new born child Lina smiled. "I am your mother, Haseyabaá of K'aa' Dine'é, for Bit'ahnii, known as Lina Nakai to the world. This is your father Keme Sunchild of the O'Chiese Blackfoot and we are your parents. This is your grandmother Mai Nakai. You shall be named, Hashké atsiniltłʼish known to the world as Kai Nakai. We will love you with every moment of…".

Mai glanced at Keme. "Blackie…"

Looking over at her he smirked. "Crone…"

Lina shook her head. "Could you two just, not...".

Keme looked at his feet, "Yes dear… Well, I'm going to find the nurse and start on the paperwork. I'll be right back." He then stepped towards the door.

As he approached the door Lina's mother looked at him, "Don't forget to wash your feet, Blackie.".

Stopping, he glanced back, shook his head, and grinned. "Now you're just trying to get me hurt… See you in a bit Mai, try not to scare Kai too much with that face of yours and…". He then quickly left the room as he noticed Lina glaring at him with a look on her face that seemed to be daring him to continue.

Mai then came around the side of the bed hugging her daughter gently. She then leaned over looking lovingly at her grandson while holding his hand with a smile on her face. 

"WHAAAAAAAA!!!!"

A world shaking roar emitted through the room as a dragon as big as the sky  rushed towards him. As it was about to devour him a beam of golden light shined from his glabella causing the dragon to begin smoking then melting as it roared in pain and then over the next few minutes flowed into the area between his eyes like water going down a drain.

Both women tried soothing him. Trying to get him to eat, taking turns trying to rock him, but no matter what they did he continued to scream.

After several minutes, he just stopped screaming. Then closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Keme, followed by a nurse, both with a panicked look on their faces came through the door just as the baby stopped crying.

Keme looked at his wife and child.  "What happened? Is he ok?"

Both women looked at him then Lina replied, "I don't know, he just started screaming. He seems to have calmed down though.". 

Looking at the nurse, Mai asked, "Are you a wood controller?". 

The nurse shook her head, "No. I'll go get Dr. Johnson." 

As the nurse left the room she stopped and looked back into the room for a moment at the two women and whispered, "Holy s**t it's f*****g Bloodwind!". Looking back and forth between the two women. She then walked off as she said to herself, "Wow, she looks great for someone pushing 90… Wait, Bloodwind isn't supposed to have a sister. Then that means… That must be Windraider and that guy must be Tempest! I actually got to see them without the masks. My sister is not gonna believe this!!!".

A man came to the door a few minutes later. Knocking on the door frame he spoke. "Mrs. and Mr. Nakai? Nurse Cooper told me that your little boy isn't feeling well. May I have a look?".

Lina nodded her head.

The doctor, who appeared to be in his mid 40's with a full head of short wavy brown hair walked to the opposite side of the bed that Mai was standing on. 

He then put his hand over Kai's head. His hand began to glow with pale green light.

"Hmmm. He seems to be fine. There's no abnormal temperature, his organs seem ok, no bruising or bleeding anywhere. He's just sleeping. What happened right before he started crying?". 

Mai looked at the doctor, "Well I rubbed his little hand then he looked up and just started screaming.". 

Keme covered his mouth and turned and walked into the corridor. "HAHAHAHA!!!", a loud laugh was heard from outside the room.

Dr. Johnson cleared his throat. "Well he seems fine now. Maybe he just got scared for some reason. Well, just let him sleep for now."

 Then he turned to Lina. "You need to get some rest as well mom. We'll get all the paperwork settled and as long as there's no complications you all should be able to leave tomorrow morning."

Keme came back into the room and looked at Mai with a grin. He then waved his hand past his face and mouthed the words, "He got scared by your face." Then left the room quietly chuckling. 

Lina shook her head as the doctor gave her a confused look. Mai facepalmed while Lina grinned, laughing quietly as she waved the doctor off. 

The doctor got up and left saying, "I'll make sure to have nurse Cooper bring you some breakfast. Make sure to get some rest afterward Mrs. Nakai.".

"OK Dr. Johnson." She and Mai waved as the doctor left through the door.

At that moment, a rapid beeping sound was heard from the small table next to the head of the bed. 

Lina reached over and grabbed the silver bracelet that functioned as a holocommunicator. Pressing a button on the side of the device a small screen appeared above the bracelet.

Keme came rushing into the room. "I've got it dear. You just stay here with Kai and get something to eat.".

Mai looked at him. "Stop… I'll go take care of it. Lina, go ahead and accept it on your device then give it to me, I left mine at the house. I'll just use wind. No one will know the difference. You two relax and get something to eat."

Lina looked at her mother. "Are you sure Mom?"

Mia held out her hand. Raising her eyebrow she looked at Lina. Lina hit [YES] on the blue holographic display, then closing out the screen, she put the communicator which now resembled a thin smartphone into her mom's outstretched hand. 

Taking Lina's communicator Mia took down her hair, grabbed a swaddling blanket, wrapped it around the lower part of her face, and walked through the door.

Keme tapped [NO] on his device then sat down in the chair next to the bed and Looked at his wife. "Those guys are so screwed…".

Lina nodded her head in agreement. "Super screwed…". Closing her eyes, she lay back on the bed rocking the newborn Kai with a smile on her face..
